Bowl food is exactly what it sounds like; food in a bowl. We’re not sure what the craze is all about, but it seems to be all over Instagram. And it might have something to do with the royal wedding – Prince Harry and Meghan Markle did serve bowl food, after all, when they tied the knot. Their royal lunch included pea and mint risotto, chicken fricassee and a slow-roasted pork belly, served with apple compote and crackling. So what exactly is bowl food and where has it come from? Bowl food is larger than a canapé and about a...

A state commission in Colorado that punished Masterpiece Cakeshop owner Jack Phillips for refusing to use his artistry to promote same-sex marriage could be eliminated. Future funding for the Colorado Civil Rights Commission, where one member even likened Christians to Nazis, failed in a vote in the state’s Joint Budget Committee. State Sen. Kevin Lundberg, R-Berthoud, tweeted that the decision came down to a party-line vote that tabled plans to continue sending money to the commission. “My argument against approving their funding today is we need to wait and see what the legislature does with the renewal of the law...

Their wish wasn't granted - at first - and they were forced to move the outdoor ceremony into a chapel. But as the couple were taking their first photos together as man and wife, something magical happened. A gorgeous full rainbow appeared in the middle of the sky.

Lines began forming outside the Supreme Court last week for one of the biggest oral arguments of the year, in the case of a Colorado man who says that requiring him to create custom cakes for same-sex weddings would violate his religious beliefs. At the end of over an hour of debate, it became clear that, at least in one respect, the case is just like so many others: It is likely to hinge on the vote of Justice Anthony Kennedy, who initially seemed sympathetic to the same-sex couple but later expressed real concern that Colorado had not been sufficiently...

Can people of good will believe that LGBT people should not be denied services based on their sexual orientation and, at the same time, support the rights of a baker such as Jack Phillips to refuse to use his creative talents in ways the violate his deeply-held religious beliefs? The answer is yes - because I support LGBT rights and Jack Phillips, too. Eleven years ago, I helped lead a statewide campaign in Colorado to provide basic legal rights to the LGBT community. As a conservative Republican, I took at lot of heat, which I happily accepted — just as...

PITTSBURGH -- Barb Yavorcik's husband jokes that when he called his mother to tell her they were engaged, she hung up the phone and turned the oven on to preheat. Why? "To bake the cookies for the wedding, of course," she said. In certain parts of the country, particularly in Pittsburgh and Youngstown, Pennsylvania, where the Yavorcik family came from, if you do not have a cookie table at your wedding reception -- actually, several tables ready to greet your guests -- you may as well expect nothing short of a revolt. Or at least lifelong judgment and gossip about...

Parable of the Wedding Feast by Charles S. Meek Christians are easily inclined to misinterpret the Bible because of their ingrained presuppositions. Even trained theologians are subject to this error. Here’s an example: I recently heard a sermon on the Parable of the Wedding Feast (Matthew 22:1-14). You remember the story. Jesus was discussing the kingdom of heaven and the refusal of those invited to the wedding feast to attend. To make matters worse, those invited killed the king’s servants! The king was obviously greatly perturbed and administered his justice by destroying their city and casting the perpetrators into “outer...

Amazon Studios head Roy Price — suspended “indefinitely” this past week after being accused of sexual harassment — was about to marry writer Lila Feinberg in four weeks but she has now called off the wedding. Feinberg and Price were to tie the knot on Nov. 12 in a lavish ceremony at The Carlyle on Madison Avenue, but multiple sources confirm that Feinberg — an award-winning playwright and TV writer — has just canceled it. Price was accused of lewdly propositioning Isa Dick Hackett, a producer on Amazon’s hit show “The Man in the High Castle.”

Amid the religious liberty cases increasingly heading to the courts, there’s one prominent legal battle that could potentially have some sweeping ramifications: Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission. It’s a case that surrounds baker Jack Phillips and his Masterpiece Cakeshop in Lakewood, Colorado. Phillips, much like Oregon bakers Aaron and Melissa Klein and numerous other wedding venders across the U.S., has found himself in the crosshairs of the government as well as LGBTQ activists after declining in 2012 to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple. The baker is waiting for the Supreme Court to decide whether to...

A couple displaced by the Oroville Dam evacuations almost had their Valentine’s Day wedding plans canceled -- were it not for a number of fellow evacuees and Placer County workers who helped put on an impromptu wedding at the evacuation center. Henry Rueda and now-wife Leotta's marriage was 10 years in the making, but Sunday they were forced to evacuate their Olivehurst, California, home for the Placer County Fairgrounds, with about 300 other displaced residents. Authorities ordered people to leave the area when a hole developed in an eroded area of the spillway, raising concerns that the spillway could fail...

President Donald Trump dropped in on a nearby wedding reception at his Mar-a-Lago club Saturday, underway in its Grand Ballroom. For years, this might have been a normal occurrence. But now? The now-President had just worked closely with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to evaluate news that North Korea had launched an intermediate-range ballistic missile. Entering the ornate room, Trump took a photo with the bride and her bridesmaids, who posed in red gowns next to the commander in chief, mimicking his signature thumbs-up. Then he grabbed a microphone. "I saw them out on the lawn today," Trump said of...
