Chuck Schumer, Democratic leader, to shape the Democratic agenda and strategy, and will play a critical role in implementing it on and off the Senate floor with the rest of the leadership team and caucus. Murray has served as the conference secretary, the fourth-ranking position, since 2006. “We have a tough road ahead of us with Republicans in control of...

Hello, All! The oyster hatchery has now been effectively shut down for close to a month and I am delighted to report the joy of lower propane and electrical bills. I just got back from 5 days chasing elk in the Willapa foothills. We did not get an elk, but it was a magical trip. We hiked around 20 miles a day up and down ridges, through clearcuts and along swirling logging roads. We saw a lot of elk, but no 3 point plus critters, the legal minimum. Anyhow, we need more meat like a hole in our heads. It...

Central Washington game wardens are looking for tips that lead them to those responsible for shooting up a herd of elk near Ellensburg on Nov. 6, and two conservation groups are offering $4,000 in reward for info leading to a conviction in the case. The incident occurred in Schnebly Canyon north of town between 9 and 11 that morning, the last day of rifle elk season, and began with a report of three dead elk on a hillside. But when officers arrived they discovered even more. "We found four dead calves in a line within 100 yards," said Officer Roman...

carbon tax initiative (I-732) garnered only 42 percent of the vote in Washington State. The tax was supposed to be revenue neutral by lowering the state sales tax by 1 cent and provide tax rebates of up to $1,500 per year to 460,000 low-income households. The initial $25 per ton would have boosted the price of gallon of gas by about 25 cents, and added 2.5 cents to each kilowatt-hour of coal-fired electricity, and 1.25 cents to electricity generated by natural gas. Interestingly, the proposal which aimed to cut emissions of carbon dioxide that are contributing to man-made global warming...

Ammon Bundy, 41 and his older brother Ryan Bundy, 44. last week were taken from Portland's downtown jail to a federal detention center in Seattle, where they remained Sunday night. At some point, the two Bundy brothers are expected to be transferred to Las Vegas, Nevada, so they can help prepare their defense against a 16-county felony indictment stemming from the 2014 standoff with federal agents outside their father Cliven Bundy's ranch near Bunkerville, Nevada. The Bundy's were transferred by U.S. Marshals last Wednesday morning to the Federal Detention Center-Sea-Tac in Seattle.......

A carbon tax proposal in Washington state, scheduled for the ballot on Tuesday, has been drawing national attention for weeks as a result of the unexpected controversy it’s inspired among environmental groups, many of whom have outright opposed the initiative. And in the final days leading up to the vote, new voices have continued to join the fray, including influential players on all sides of the climate change conversation. **SNIP** Also last week, economic justice organization Rebuild the Dream, founded by former White House adviser and current CNN commentator Van Jones, released two Facebook ads — reportedly at a cost...

Following the news that one Bernie-Sanders-supporting electoral college voter in Washington State was vowing he would not cast his vote for Hillary Clinton if and when she wins the state’s popular vote, another electoral college voter in the state has told the Seattle Times that he isn’t sure he’ll support her either. That voter, 37-year-old Bret Chiafolo — who also supported Sanders in the primaries — told the Times that he is considering his right to be a “conscientious elector,” thus freeing himself from the responsibility of supporting Clinton. “I have no specific plans, but I have not ruled out...

Agents within the Federal Bureau of Investigation want to take down the personnel at the top of the Justice Department, according to a former D.C. based U.S. Justice attorney. "Just think of the FBI as the Vietcong. That's what they are. They are digging tunnels under the Justice Department. They are going to sink that place," Washington attorney Joe DiGenova told The Daily Caller Thursday. [Snip] FBI agents pushed forward, against the wishes of the Justice Department and without the support of bureau leadership, to investigate the Clinton Foundation, according to a Wall Street Journal report. As a result of...

So I sent in my Washington ballot today (vote by mail is bs in my opinion), and wanted to share the good news. During elections, my family sit down and we discuss the candidates and other stuff and things (Walking Dead reference, +2 points) on the ballot, both of my parents are lifelong democrats, as well as my older brother. I have always been the odd duck conservative in the family. Anyways, It is hard for me to even vote in Washington State since the I-5 corridor pretty much rules the state electorial college votes. After discussing the candidates and...

President George Washington, on April 30, 1789, delivered his famous Inaugural Address to both Houses of Congress. He had just taken the oath of office on the balcony of Federal Hall in New York City, with his hand upon a Bible opened to Deuteronomy, Chapter 28: Such being the impressions under which I have, in obedience to the public summons, repaired to the present station, it would be peculiarly improper to omit, in this first official act, my fervent supplications to that Almighty Being who rules over the universe, who presides in the councils of nations and whose providential aides...

You have allowed a breach in your walls my children! Seers awake ! Rise up to repair your borders and walls for you can not sustain what is about to come now as blind as you now are ! Awake ! Repair ! Come up higher and fast all distractions and guard your gates , replace your blind Seers with the ones that look to Me alone for guidance and KNOW I AM here. So there is no reason to tarry or allow in bitter waters that do not replenish and leave behind Asherah poles of disdain(contempt) . Am I...

SEATTLE (KOMO) - Washington State Republican chairman Susan Hutchison is defending Donald Trump after the Washington Post released a new video on Friday, in which the GOP nominee is caught having a lewd conversation about women in 2005. In an interview with KOMO News Radio on Friday evening, Hutchinson said the comments made 11 years ago were, "repulsive to her" and others, then blamed former President Bill Clinton and the Democratic party. "He [Trump] was a Democrat at the time and he was channeling Bill Clinton," said Hutchinson. "The hypocrisy of Hillary Clinton to say, 'this man does not belong...

Joel Mattila found his people on Sunday afternoon at a rally for GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump in Esther Short Park in Vancouver. “I’m so glad to see so many Trump supporters here today,” Mattila, a Trump superfan, yelled from the stage. “It’s like we are one great big basket of deplorables.” The crowd roared. More than 100 people turned out for the rally to show support for Trump. “Usually at election time, we say we’re standing at a crossroads. My friends, this election, we’re standing at the edge of a cliff,” Mattila said. “There is so much at stake...

A number of new applications for voter registrations recently submitted in Harrisonburg, Virginia were discovered to carry the names of persons recently deceased. The “anomaly” came to light when an employee in the registrar’s office noticed that one of the new registrations was for Richard Claybrook Sr., the late father of a well-known local judge. Ultimately, 19 of the applications submitted by Andrew Spieles, a member of the Young Democrats club at James Madison University, on behalf of the community activist group “Harrisonburg VOTES” were deemed suspicious. Republicans are incensed. Virginia House Speaker William Howell (R-Stafford) asked “how often do...

But remember, Voter ID is racist. It discriminates against illegal voters. But first a step back. We're talking about the Turkish Muslim mall terrorist in Washington, not the Somali Muslim mall shooter in Minnesota. We're getting so much Muslim terror these days that it takes work to keep it all straight. The Cascade Mall shooting suspect, Arcan Cetin, may face an additional investigation related to his voting record and citizenship status. Federal sources confirm to KING 5 that Cetin was not a U.S. citizen, meaning legally he cannot vote. However, state records show Cetin registered to vote in 2014 and...
