The image above has been credited as being the firearm used in the Fort Lauderdale Airport shooting on 6 January, 2017.  While the image is a little fuzzy, it appears to be a Walther PPS. You can see the distinctive trigger guard magazine release, the slot above the trigger guard and back of the rail for the serial number, the single finger groove and the shape of the extended magazine.   On the rear heal of the grip is a triangular smooth area that should have the Walther banner in it, and grip is slightly relieved and smooth in a...
  • Conceal Carry Preference (Vanity)

Hi trusted Freepers, Kansas recently passed a constitutional carry law. So someone I know wants to start carrying for protecting his family. He likes .40 S&W caliber because, well, it's superior to everything else in every way. He has a small frame .40 but it's a little too thick to carry comfortably (1.25"). In his search for a small .40 he's looking at either a Walther PPS or a M&P Shield. He has a few questions: 1. Does anyone know of anyone who has experience selling an 7-8 year old Taurus PT140? 2. How much should he ask for? 3....

Even if you are not shopping for a Glock 42, this is still an excellent comparison of many single stack pistols on the market. There are almost an overwhelming number of options for a .380 or 9mm concealed carry weapon. Hopefully this video helped you glean some information.

“Fear God and Give Him the Glory!”: The Slogan of the Lutheran Church ReformationReformation Festival Sermon on Revelation 14:6-7 by C. F. W. Walther (1881) Translated by Joel Baseley. Abridged by Charles Henrickson.“Holy, holy, holy, Lord of Sabaoth, all the earth is full of your glory.” This we cry out today, O Lord our God, along with the cherubim and seraphim. For today we remember the glorious work of the Reformation of the church, which you began and gloriously brought to completion in the sixteenth century. Your glory had been taken from the very midst of your church, the glory...
  • "A Faith Worth Imitating: C. F. W. Walther" (Sermon on Hebrews 13:7)

“A Faith Worth Imitating: C. F. W. Walther” (Hebrews 13:7)Reading from Hebrews 13: 7: “Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.” This is our text. Fifty years ago, “Walther” was a household name in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. After all, the synodical youth group was called the Walther League. Today, however, the league is long gone, and for many so is the man for whom it was named, Carl Ferdinand Wilhelm Walther. In fact, there are probably some here today who are wondering...

No, we’re not talking about Fast and Furious today. We’re talking about what a beautiful weekend it was, and how much fun it was to go to the bucolic and gorgeous Cape Cod Fish and Game club and do some shooting! Some of you may remember reading my post about the process of getting a license in Massachusetts from last year. Since then, about the only thing I’ve done, gun-wise, was purchase a S&W kit gun, which is a nice little revolver; but after taking it to the range and trying it out, I found I didn’t really enjoy shooting...

“Witnesses Preach Law and Gospel” (Acts 2:14a, 36-41)Maybe you noticed, maybe you didn’t: The hymn we just sang, “He’s Risen, He’s Risen,” was written by C. F. W. Walther. Carl Ferdinand Wilhelm Walther was, of course, the first president of our Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and really the leading figure in our synod’s history. This year we are celebrating the 200th anniversary of Walther’s birth in October of 1811. Yesterday, May 7, was the commemoration of his death, and so it is very appropriate that we sing his Easter hymn today. “Oh, where is your sting, death? We fear you no...

A few years ago, my husband bought a Walther P22 for me. I like the idea of having a .22 handgun, but this gun hasn't been a good fit. I've shot a couple thousand rounds, at least. With all that practice, you would think I'd be getting tight clusters, right on target, every time, but no. I know how to shoot, which makes this even more frustrating. I do much better with heavier guns and calibers (.40 and .357) but want a .22 in the family arsenal, such as it is. The Walther sometimes stovepipes and even my husband, who...

The NRA is also reporting that S&W will manufacture a version of the Walther PPK/s that at 20.8 oz. is 3 oz. less than the original. Walther and Smith & Wesson have been tighter than two fingers in a mitten recently, with Walther \USA (the US branch of the company) sharing the same corporate address as Smith & Wesson in Springfield, and some commingling of personnel and assets. Walther USA has disbanded, and now Smith & Wesson is the US distributor for Walther products, as well as the maker of the current PPK/S. So we're up to date on the...
