Maya Dillard Smith, interim director of the Georgia chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, has resigned over the ACLU’s position on who can use which public restrooms. The resignation occurred after her two daughters were traumatized by encountering men in the women’s restroom. Dillard Smith explained: "I have shared my personal experience of having taken my elementary school age daughters into a women’s restroom when shortly after three transgender young adults, over six feet [tall] with deep voices, entered. My children were visibly frightened, concerned about their safety and left asking lots of questions for which I, like many...

The Kansas Senate is considering a resolution condemning a recent Obama administration decree that public schools allow transgender students to use the restrooms that match their gender identity, not their sex at birth. The nonbinding resolution comes less than a week after the state Supreme Court ruled that legislators failed to equitably fund the school’s 286 public school districts. […] Senate Majority Leader Terry Bruce, a Hutchinson Republican, said President Barack Obama “overstepped his bounds” by issuing a decree on what should be a state-level decision. …

ICHMOND, Va. -- The debate over whether transgender students should be able to use the bathrooms that match their gender identity is likely headed to the U.S. Supreme Court after a federal appeals court refused Tuesday to reconsider a three-judge panel's ruling on the matter. The Gloucester County School Board had asked for a review by the full 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals after a three-judge panel said in a 2-1 decision last month that a Virginia high school discriminated against a transgender teen by forbidding him from using the boy's restroom. In his dissent of Tuesday's decision denying...

DANBURY - Aimee Toms was washing her hands in the women’s bathroom at Walmart in Danbury Friday when a stranger approached her and said, “You’re disgusting!” and “You don’t belong here!” After momentary confusion, she realized that the woman next to her thought - because of her pixie-style haircut and baseball cap - that she was transgender. Besides being a pretty normal choice of style for women, Toms’ has a short haircut because she recently donated hair - for the third time - to a program that makes wigs for child cancer patients. “I’ve had people call me all sorts...

House Speaker Paul D. Ryan finds himself in the middle of yet another Republican civil war as the battle over LGBT rights has come to Congress, threatening to divide an already fractured GOP. It is a fight the speaker does not want to have — especially in a competitive election year in which presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s candidacy is already tearing the party apart.

Not so fast, bro. It’s not quite as dramatic as a state telling Obama to take his federal funds and shove them where the sun doesn’t shine, and it’s potentially rife with unintended consequences: What if the Scalia-less Supreme Court rules that the president can issue arbitrary conditions for the receipt of federal funds at his own personal whim? Roger Goodell’s lawyers might have some suggestions for Obama on this one. But at least they’re fighting. Texas, Alabama, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Tennessee, Maine, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Utah and Georgia have sued the administration in federal court. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott appears...

“Don’t shop at Target,”... “We need to send a message to Target. You might not live in North Carolina, so at this moment you don’t have any skin in the game, but you will, because this is going to every state, every community. Don’t let your little girl go into Target and try on a bathing suit right now. Don’t buy anything from Target.” “Speak out. Don’t be afraid to express how you’re feeling about this issue,” she urged. “We are talking about a miniscule number of people who are psychologically unhealthy, and the people on the Left are saying...

It is a story that started when one dad asked his three sons who attend Southwest Elementary School in Howell a routine question: How was school today?“My son informed me there was a girl in the bathroom with him and the other kids in his class,” said Matt Stewart. He called the school. He asked why he wasn’t given warning that there was a transgender child in the school, why parents didn’t have a say on school policy, and what the options were to protect the privacy of his son.Stewart didn’t like the answers. He and his wife then decided to...

On Wednesday night, 43 Republican members of Congress joined the Democrats to vote for President Barack Obama’s transgender agenda. Whereas last week Congress voted to reject this proposal—known as the Maloney Amendment—last night they voted to ratify Obama’s 2014 executive order barring federal contractors from what it describes as “discrimination” on the basis of “sexual orientation and gender identity” in their private employment policies. And, of course, “discrimination” on the basis of “gender identity” can be something as simple as having a bathroom policy based on biological sex, not gender identity, as we learned last week from Obama’s transgender directives....

(TEXAS TRIBUNE) -- Texas joined by 10 other states, filed a lawsuit Wednesday to stop a federal directive instructing school districts to let transgender students use the bathroom that corresponds with their gender identity, Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Wednesday. Calling the Obama administration directive “outside the bounds of the constitution,” the McKinney Republican said that the state was taking action to protect a school district near the Oklahoma border that had passed a policy earlier this week requiring students to use bathrooms according to the gender cited on their birth certificates.

Update: Metro PD confirmed to The Daily Caller that they are treating the incident as a “suspected hate crime.” A female security guard working at a Washington, D.C. grocery store was arrested Monday afternoon for physically escorting a man out of the women’s restroom after he refused to leave because he identifies as a woman. The shopper — a young, African-American male who identified himself as Ebony Belcher to local news outlets — reportedly passed the security guard on his way into the women’s restroom at a Giant grocery store in Northeast D.C. After seeing Belcher walk into the women’s...

If you, like 55% of U.S. parents with school-age children, oppose the POS’s latest stunt, ordering all schools, colleges and universities that receive federal financial assistance to allow so-called “transgenders” — a biological impossibility — to use the rest- or locker-room of their predilection, instead of in accordance to their biological plumbing, it’s even worse than you think.

North Carolina’s Republican leaders are seeking to combine separate lawsuits over a state law limiting protections for the LGBT community — moves that could help steer the cases to a judge who twice ruled against the federal government in recent years. Three federal judges are currently assigned to five dueling lawsuits over the law, which requires transgender people to use bathrooms corresponding to the sex on their birth certificates in many public buildings. The law also excludes gender identity and sexual orientation from statewide antidiscrimination protections. Senate leader Phil Berger and House Speaker Tim Moore asked on Monday to combine...

HERSHEY, Pa. — A Pennsylvania amusement park that is a popular attraction for families with children has announced that its internal policies allow visitors and employees to use the restroom that correlates with their “gender identity.” Hersheypark officials released a statement on Friday outlining that its restroom accommodations have already been in place and will continue. “We recognize that the more perspectives we have within our company, the more welcoming we are to all those who visit and seek employment here,” said Public Relations Manager Kathy Burrows. “In fact, our company has four core values, one of which is ‘respectful...

This controversy is surreal because it’s totally artificial. Transgender men and women have been using bathrooms without incident since long before any right wing extremist group dreamed up legislation to alienate and punish them.

Obama has asserted, by pure fiat, on no legal, medical, scientific, or commonsense grounds whatsoever, that he can dictate how children use school bathrooms around the country. This is an obnoxious and dangerous abuse of federal power, and it looks suspicious. What is Obama's motivation? Adults may not remember the deep shame and embarrassment children often feel, as early as age four, around toilet training. Sibling rivalry can get pretty intense. Being called a "poopy kid" by your brother or sister might look pretty harmless to parents, but young children can experience it as a sink-through-the-floor feeling of overwhelming shame....

Why don't all us big, hairy, stinky men decide we are "gender fluid" and "non-binary" when we want to take a big, steaming dump, and go in the women's room? Solves two problems at once! If we need to #1, go in the men's room. After all, the women's room has stalls for all!

In an attempt to calm the anger of the more than 1.2 million consumers who have pledged to boycott the store, the CEO announced the store’s plans to implement family bathrooms in all of its stores for people who may not feel comfortable in the traditional stall-by-stall bathrooms. “We’re committed over the next few months to make sure every one of our stores has that option, because we want to make sure that our guests be welcomed in our stores,” he explained. “But if there’s a question of safety, I can tell you and others, our focus on safety is...
