It is a story that started when one dad asked his three sons who attend Southwest Elementary School in Howell a routine question: How was school today?
“My son informed me there was a girl in the bathroom with him and the other kids in his class,” said Matt Stewart.
He called the school. He asked why he wasn’t given warning that there was a transgender child in the school, why parents didn’t have a say on school policy, and what the options were to protect the privacy of his son.
Stewart didn’t like the answers. He and his wife then decided to pull their three sons out of school.
“As parents, we decided we were not going to force our children to make the decision between confusion, humiliation, and embarrassment,” said Stewart.
So what does the school have to say? A school spokesperson gave 7 Action News a letter sent home to parents. It reads:
"As has been widely reported, on May 13, 2016, the United States Department of Justice and Department of Education issued significant guidance on the rights of transgender students. This involved the Department’s interpretation of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, which is a statute prohibiting sex discrimination in educational programs or activities. Those Departments found that Title IX prohibits discrimination against students based on their transgender status.
With respect to restrooms, the government stated that transgender students must be allowed to access those facilities “consistent with their gender identity.” Any student who desires additional privacy in light of this directive may, however, make use of individual-user restrooms.
This is a new and rapidly developing area of law. Howell Public Schools intends to comply with its legal obligations in this, as well as all other, respects. Measures will, therefore, be implemented consistent with this guidance in a way which.......”

I know Michigan is a state that leans blue in presidential elections, but this isn't my own district of Ann Arbor Publik Skuls that is causing the controversy, but in Howell. Howell is a conservative area outside of its school system. Public schools tilt left no matter where you live.
Those school board elections matter. The state board of education elections matter.
So, instead of making the statistical anomaly use the private bathroom, the vast majority, if they have any sense of modesty are forced to wait in line at the single private restroom while the anomaly gets its choice e of multiple stalls.

Aside from all of the other problems with this hideous new ground the left has chosen to trod, it's Achilles' heel is that they have no objective criteria by which to define who is "transgendered." They won't come up with any either, because to do so would be "discriminatory" in their warped world. They have painted themselves into a corner, and if the rest of us don't force the issue they will eventually get away with this, just like they do everything else by using propaganda and time to wear down public opposition and eventually cause most people to accept it.
The very same line of attack should also be applied to seeking racial set-asides and other "diversity"-driven advantages, by claiming to be black, Hispanic, or whatever because you "feel" that you are that race. They have zero defense for any of these arguments, because if they try to claim that only biological facts can be used to determine who is a certain race (which is a much less strictly-defined quality than gender), then it immediately destroys their claims about gender and "transgenderism."

Agree....Let the transgender parents homeschool their kid so that it would not cause disruption to all the other kids. The homeschooled transgender kid would not have so much “anxiety” that way.

Just wait until more parents do this and then the ‘school district mafia’ goes after them because the school district is losing state and federal funding which is based on a per student basis.
