  • Gag Baby Gag: The Clinton Police State Cometh

    The Washington Free Beacon's Editor's Blog ^ | July 31, 2014 | Andrew Stiles, digital managing editor
Critics 'should neither be allowed nor enabled' to speak ill of Hillary. Political journalists are going to love the Hillary Clinton presidency. Judging by the way Team Clinton has responded to a series of books that are critical of the elderly homeowner and her philandering husband, it will be a real treat to cover them in the White House (again). According to Politico, for example, public relations representatives for the Clinton family have issued a joint statement condemning the recent publication of “trashy” books by Ed Klein, Daniel Halper, and Ronald Kessler, all of which reflect less than favorably...
  • CNN Anchor Bill Weir to Fox Nation: ‘You Willfully Ignorant [expletive]sticks’ (UPDATED)

It’s safe to say CNN anchor Bill Weir is not a fan of climate change deniers. On Thursday, the Twitter account for Fox Nation, a blog run by Fox News, tweeted a link to a post headlined, “Climate Doesn’t Cooperate With Al Gore’s Group’s Visit to Denver EPA Hearings.” The story, aggregated from the Washington Times, relates to a Denver visit by former Vice President Al Gore‘s “Climate Reality Project” for EPA hearings on power plant emissions. The group showed up to hand out ice cream even though it was 58 degrees. Weir retweeted the link, with his own comment:...

To the women of America: Please do not underestimate the significance of this. Here, now, you have been given the opportunity to grab ahold of our society and drag it back from the precipice. You cannot cure all of our ills, but, if you answer the call, you can at least help us take one small step toward peace and prosperity. This is truly a seminal moment in our history. The weight of our future, our children’s future, our children’s children’s future, partially rests on the decision you are facing. Your task, ladies, is simple. All you must do is...
  • Jesse Ventura: Don’t feel sorry for Chris Kyle’s widow, I’m the victim here

    Hot Air ^ | July 30, 2014 | Noah Rothman
Jesse Ventura, Minnesota’s former governor, won his lawsuit against the late Navy SEAL and American Sniper author Chris Kyle on Tuesday. He claimed he was defamed in that book and, while a jury agreed, the vainglorious former wrestler-turned-politician-turned-conspiracy-buff has not exactly comported himself in a fashion that elicits much sympathy. After having been awarded nearly $2 million to be paid by the late serviceman’s widow, one might assume that Ventura would simply slip away and enjoy his victory. It seems, however, Ventura’s narcissism prevented him from taking the tasteful approach here. In an appearance on CBS News’ This Morning on...
  • Why Sarah Palin TV makes perfect sense ("Oprahesque")

Although it took six years for her to do it, former mayor of Wasilla/Alaska governor/GOP vice presidential nominee, and current author/Fox analyst/Tea Party favorite/social media pioneer/reality TV star and all around muckraker Sarah Palin has finally landed on her most perfect title: founder, The Sarah Palin Channel. Looking back, shouldn’t we have seen this Oprahesque turn coming all along? Palin, a communications major, always made for great TV. Even when she stumbled her way through those Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson interviews in 2008, it was cringe-worthy, but hard to turn away. Well, maybe, she hasn’t always made for great...
  • How Sarah Palin could change the media, and why she won’t

I do not care very much about former Alaska governor Sarah Palin’s waning influence on American political life. But I confess an ongoing fascination with Palin as a media phenomenon. As she vacillates between the Fox News stints that keep her political clout alive and the reality television gigs that seem like a more natural fit for her talents, I always wonder whether this is the moment that she will commit to a single path. The debut of the Sarah Palin Channel, a subscription-based multimedia site that Palin and her team launched yesterday, is a disappointing combination of these muddled...
  • Glenn Beck: Conservatives Won’t Win on Immigration

Conservatives Republicans and liberal Democrats have dug in their heels on immigration and Glenn Beck has picked his side. But he doesn’t think it’s the winning one. “I have to tell you, I’m gravely concerned because I don’t think we’re going to win this immigration battle,” Beck said on his radio show Monday. “I really don’t. I think it’s going to go the way it always does. Because they’re (liberals) going to win the PR battle. And the president is going to change the subject and he’s going to make it about impeachment.” Some high-profile Republicans, like former Alaska Gov....
  • Cenk Uygur Trashes ‘[feline nickname]’ Hannity: ‘I’ll Kick His [expletive] All Day Long’

Yesterday on The Young Turks, Cenk Uygur took on Sean Hannity over his confrontational showdown with a Palestinian guest. Uygur said Hannity couldn’t last a debate where he didn’t control the format and setting, and said if he ever got the chance to debate Hannity fairly, “I’ll kick his [expletive] all day long.” Uygur charged that on Fox News, any criticism of Israel whatsoever isn’t tolerated, and Hannity kept poking at his guest “so he can say, ‘See? Angry Muslims.’” But would Uygur ever face off with Hannity himself? He said if he did, “he’ll do the usual badgering, but...

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)In her latest media-politics endeavor, the former governor seeks to escape the "filters," this time between her and her fans' credit cards. In the welcome video to the Sarah Palin Channel, the former governor of Alaska explains her motivation for starting a personal subscription network: “We’ll go beyond the soundbites and the media’s politically correct filter to get to the truth.” Over her six years in the national spotlight, Sarah Palin has not exactly lacked for media platforms, filtered or unfiltered. She’s had a reality show on TLC and one currently on Sportsman Channel. She’s been a paid contributor to Fox...

My cable bill jumped a bunch this month. When I asked why, several promotions had expired etc etc etc.Anyway, the service rep at Time Warner gave me a better price on a package deal that includes cable TV, internet and phone service. A question I have is about continuity of their phone service if the cable/power goes out. It does happen sporatically here.
  • TCA: CBS’ ‘Madam Secretary’ Sprang From Hillary Clinton And Benghazi, Exec Producer Says

CBS‘ new drama series Madam Secretary, in which Tea Leoni plays the Secretary of State, came about because of Hillary Clinton and Benghazi, exec producer Lori McCreary told TV critics today at TCA Summer TV Press Tour 2014. McCreary said she and Morgan Freeman had lunch with CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler about producing a scripted series for the network, after which, McCreary says, they set about “trying to come up with a great character…And then, guess what happened — the Benghazi hearings,” McCreary said. They went back to Tassler with the idea of a series about what it’s like...

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)Why has the Senate been unable to pass anything? According to an extraordinary panel of mainstream media personalities, it’s the fault of Republicans, or of the American people. On a Sunday discussion on NBC’s Meet the Press, host David Gregory railed against the “Do-Nothing Congress” and played a brief clip of Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz pointing out that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who controls the Senate agenda, is the logical person to hold accountable for stalled activities in the World’s Greatest Deliberative Body. Though the Cruz clip (which Meet the Press had been advertising for several days) came...
  • The ‘Sister Wives’ Effect: Can the U.S. Rebrand Polygamy?

Earlier this month, TLC brought back "Sister Wives," a reality show featuring the Utah-based polygamist Brown family of four wives and 17 children, for another season. Since last season, the Browns struck down a major piece of state legislation that may pave the way for the legalization of polygamy under the guise of “religious freedom.” In a nod to anti-gay marriage advocates who warned the legalization of same-sex marriage would lead to other kinds of sexual freedoms, such as polygamy, the ruling is deemed a watershed moment for the rights of polygamist families— of which there is estimated to be...
  • Comic-Con: ‘True Blood’ Actress Slams Sarah Palin Over Non-Appearance On HBO Show (Video)

UPDATES WITH VIDEO: True Blood may be into its final season but the HBO show wasn’t treating its likely last Comic-Con appearance with anything but a ravenous appetite and a bit of bite. Specifically it was former GOP VP candidate Sarah Palin who got chomped. “She’ll weigh in on anything,” said cast member Kristin Bauer van Straten disdainfully of Palin revealing that she turned down the attempt HBO made to get the ex-Alaska governor on the show for its most recent broadcast. Besides a bloodbath at a fictional fundraiser for real-life Texas Senator Ted Cruz, the July 20 episode had...

Sarah Palin was almost able to see Bon Temps from her house. Talking Points Memo was able to confirm that the former governor of Alaska and Republican vice presidential nominee was approached to appear in the seventh and final season of “True Blood,” just as Palin had mentioned earlier in the week. “The brilliant minds of ‘True Blood’ were brazen enough to ask me to do a cameo on their show, apparently so they could insult a conservative woman in person instead of just all conservative women in general,” Sarah Palin told Breitbart News. “Their offer wasn’t presented in any...

Ms. Tracy Van Slyke has uncovered such a dastardly attack upon our vulnerable youth, it’s shocking that nobody else before her noticed this malign cancer hiding in plain sight.  She has exposed Thomas the Tank Engine as a pernicious evil, causing so much “classism, sexism, anti-environmentalism bordering on racism” in its “hidden lessons.” I was completely captured and intrigued by Ms. Van Slyke’s keen insight and discernment on this topic, because, frankly, my two boys are very much taken with Thomas and his friends Percy, Edward, Henry, Gordon, James, Emily, and the very scary Diesel Ten.  If there were something...

I was astounded, on so many fronts. This is must see TV for political junkies. I mean, anyone might like it, but the politically involved will find it fascinting, and teachable, illustrative….. Via RCP, it’s Jorge Ramos, a guy so deep in the tank for illegal immigration that even other members of America’s pro-amnesty media are known to grumble about it. The most revealing thing about this clip is how little his argument depends on the particular hardships being suffered by kids in Central America. They face gangs, drugs, and violence if they’re sent back, he allows, but there’s no sense that this is some unique crisis requiring a more forgiving policy than might otherwise be advisable. He’s making a straight-up argument, essentially, that if a kid makes it across the border,...
