  • Trump's human trafficking EO ignored by media

    12/26/2017 8:58:23 PM PST · by MNDude · 16 replies
A few days ago president Trump issued an executive order to block the property of about 40 individuals and organizations involved in human trafficking. He accompanied this executive order with a national state of emergency. Several people from his list seem like pretty important individuals, like the former president of Gambia, the daughter of Uzbekistan, as well as a few well-respected billionaires. The post on Free Republic that mentioned this generated almost 450 comments. To me, that is proof this is a newsworthy enough story, yet the only news outlet that mention a peep about this is Politico. Why the...

In President Trump’s Executive Order signed on December 21, 2017, his list of individuals include many connected to the Clintons. But the major individual, who stands out is Dan Gertler, international businessman and billionaire, main business partner Glencore, whose founder Marc Rich was on the FBI’s most wanted list until pardoned in 2001 by Bill Clinton. Dan Gertler, who is alleged to have amassed a personal fortune of billions of dollars through corrupt deals in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is accused of using his personal relationship with Congolese President Joseph Kabila to siphon off cash from the sale of...

  • President Trump Declares National Emergency Over Global Rights Abuses and Corruption

    12/22/2017 7:58:37 AM PST · by MNDude · 40 replies
President Donald Trump declared a national emergency on Dec. 21 in response to severe human rights abuses and corruption around the world. In his executive order, the president said that rights abuses and corruption “have reached such scope and gravity that they threaten the stability of international political and economic systems.” “I hereby declare a national emergency to deal with that threat,” Trump said. The executive order allows for the freezing of assets, within U.S. jurisdiction, of foreigners who commit severe human rights abuses, or corruption, for the most part outside of the United States. In effect, the executive order...

President Trump ordered the U.S. military and the Interior Department to take immediate action to "break" the nation's dependence on Russian and Chinese supplies of critical minerals as a matter of national security. "This dependency of the United States on foreign sources creates a strategic vulnerability for both its economy and military to adverse foreign government action, natural disaster, and other events that can disrupt supply of these key minerals," read an executive order signed by the president on Wednesday.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Thursday to weaken the Obamacare law and make it easier for Americans to buy bare-bones health insurance plans, but the action faces possible legal challenges. Stymied in Congress by the failure of Senate Republicans to pass legislation to dismantle Democratic former President Barack Obama’s signature domestic policy achievement, Trump’s order marks his administration’s latest effort to undermine the law without action by lawmakers. Trump’s order gives people more access to plans that do not cover essential health benefits such as maternity and newborn care, prescription drugs, and mental health and addiction treatment....

The White House announced Thursday that President Trump is taking executive action on health care as Congress stalls on efforts to overhaul ObamaCare, calling for a plan that could let employers band together and offer coverage across state lines. An executive order Trump plans to sign Thursday morning aims to offer “alternatives” to ObamaCare plans and increase competition to bring down costs. “The time has come to give Americans the freedom to purchase health insurance across state lines, which will create a truly competitive national marketplace that will bring costs way down and provide far better care,” Trump said in...

President Trump is preparing an executive order to allow people to purchase health insurance across state lines, a reform conservatives have long championed as a way to bring costs down and stir greater competition in the national marketplace. The executive action gives the White House a chance to follow through on at least one promise related to healthcare reform after Senate Republicans' second attempt to overhaul Obamacare failed this week. Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul "I think there's going to be big news from the White House in the next week or two, something they can do on their own," Paul...

Trump's announcement on Sunday restricting travelers from an expanded list of countries has already been roundly criticized by immigrant and civil rights groups as no more lawful than his previous travel ban, but it could stand a better chance of holding up in court, legal experts said. The new presidential proclamation, which Trump said was needed to screen out terrorist or public-safety threats, indefinitely restricts travel from Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Chad, and North Korea. Certain government officials from Venezuela will also be barred. Trump's March 6 temporary travel ban, which replaced another ban from January and expired Sunday,...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump will revoke an Obama-era executive order on Tuesday that required strict building standards for government-funded projects to reduce exposure to increased flooding from sea level rise, sources said. Trump will sign his own executive order this afternoon to revoke the standards as part of his administration's plan to "streamline the current process" for infrastructure projects, a government official said.

President Donald Trump is quite pleased with today's Supreme Court decision reinstating the majority of the "travel ban" until the court can come to a decision this fall. The court overturned decisions from state courts and said that people from the six listed countries that lacked "bona fide" reasons to come to the United States can be blocked from entry. In a statement, Trump said that the ban is a "clear victory for national security" and that it is "gratifying" that the decision was unanimous. Trump further defended the ban as a way to ensure that people who come...

(Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton issued the following statement in response to today’s decision by the U.S. Supreme Court concerning President Trump’s Executive Order that, among other anti-terrorist measures, temporarily restricts most travel from certain Middle East nations: Today, in a historic decision, every Supreme Court justice agreed for now to reinstate practically all of President Trump’s executive order concerning travel. This is a major blow to anti-Trump activist judges on the lower courts. And it is a big victory for our nation’s security, President Trump, and the rule of the law. In light of today’s strong...

...Should the Supreme Court decline to issue the temporary stay, the government is asking that the court agree to put the case on an accelerated schedule that would allow the justices to schedule arguments at the beginning of the fall term in October. Four votes are required to grant the request for the court to hear the case -- to determine if the travel ban is constitutional. But because the executive order is temporary -- the entry ban is to last for 90 days and the refugee provisions for 120 days –- it is conceivable that the executive order could...

President Trump will sign an executive order Thursday to start an investigation into voter fraud, according to ABC News. Vice President Mike Pence and Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach will be named chair and vice chair, respectively, of the "Presidential Commission on Election Integrity," the report said. The commission will be announced later Thursday. Lawmakers from both parties will be included in the commission, and they will review “vulnerabilities” in U.S. voting systems, as well as any possible cases of "improper voting, fraudulent voter registrations and fraudulent voting," ABC reported. The commission will be charged with reviewing Trump's allegations...
