On the evening in which 60 Senators who caucus with Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) voted to move forward with debate on the 2,074 page "health care" bill, Senator Reid pointed to this as a historical moment: "What happened just now has never happened in the long history of the United States Senate." Through congressional town hall meetings, tea parties, and other rallies, Americans have made clear that they oppose this particular health care plan. They do want reform --- such as portability and tort reform --- but not what was in the original 1,000+ page House bill (HR 3200)...

CHARGES WERE FILED TODAY IN THE KENNETH GLADNEY CASE!! Details coming. A confidential source just told me the news. Kenneth Gladney was beaten and stomped on by SEIU thugs outside the Russ Carnahan town hall meeting in August.

The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) has been acting as the Presidents goons, attacking anti-Obamacare Protesters across the country. It was the SEIU who HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, reached out to when the administration needed "back up" for the town halls(H/T Michelle Malkin)....Why is the Democratic Party so interested in linking up with a team of goons like the SEIU? Part of the reason is that there has been an alliance between the SEIU, ACORN and President Obama since the POTUS' first campaign for Illinois State Senate 13 years ago. The two groups have a long history, ACORN and the...

Threat to Baird not serious, FBI says The FBI said Tuesday it has closed its investigation of an alleged death threat against U.S. Rep. Brian Baird after concluding that the message left on Baird's Washington, D.C., office phone in August did not constitute a serious threat. "The information I received from our agents was that upon investigation, our special agents did not feel that the caller posed any threat and did not intend to conduct any act of terrorism," said Lindsay Godwin, spokeswoman for the FBI's Washington, D.C., field office. "The investigation is now closed."

From the Heritage Foundation's blog, The Foundry, this study was mentioned during Glenn Beck's radio show this morning: This Friday, the tax payer funded Congressional Management Foundation (CMF) is hosting a briefing for Members of Congress and their staff on their new study: Online Town Hall Meetings: Exploring Democracy in the 21st Century. The CMF study consisted of 21 townhall meetings where Members of Congress and CMF provided a moderator: “spoke via voice over IP, and constituents asked questions and made comments by typing them. Only off-topic, redundant, unintelligible, or offensive questions were screened, and only questions asked by people...

There was a lot of noise made back in August of this year over Congressman Brian Baird, (D. Wa.) canceling out on all of his town halls over alleged death threats he claims he received. Baird was under fire from both sides for not holding face to face meetings with constituents and was strongly criticized for incendiary comments made comparing town hall attendees to “Nazi’s,” “Brown Shirts,” “Timothy McVeigh” and the like, which he eventually apologized for and agreed to hold some town halls. The day after the first town hall, Baird again came under heavy criticism for what was...

The chairman of the House Republican Conference says it’s “hogwash” that GOP leaders are worried about what Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and the Tea Party movement are doing to their party’s image. In a story headlined “Conservatives Roar; Republicans Tremble,” POLICO reported Thursday that “many top Republicans are growing worried that the party’s chances for reversing its electoral routs of 2006 and 2008 are being wounded by the flamboyant rhetoric and angry tone of conservative activists and media personalities.” But House Republican Conference Chairman Mike Pence (R-Ind.) says it’s not so. “You know, the American people cherish their freedom...

In a Daily Beast op-ed the former Bush speech writer says Sarah Palin is still the class of the 2012 field, and she's not going away anytime soon. Why? Because the rank and file are fed up with the establishment Republicans who have almost drained all of the "Grand" out of the Grand Old party, and they see Palin as the cure for the disease they carry. A few excerpts: The latest news in Washington is that the conservative Minnesota governor (and potential 2012 presidential contender) has caught the eye of the city’s top Republican gurus. You remember them. The...

Bank Failures, An Endless War, Corporate lobbyists, extreme right wing ideologues in both parties, advocates of Assassinating the President of The United States, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, all given rise to popularity by extremely dumb and uninformed people, gun toters at Obama events, Cheering because we lose the Olympics and much more.. Now I will tell you something America. I sometimes write my Opinions tongue in cheek but we are now at a crossroads in this country where we had all better start asking ourselves; And our Neighbors some serious questions. The First? Are you for or against America....

Whatever significance is attached to Chicago’s failed bid to host the 2016 Olympics, it is of small importance to the rest of the country. More far-reaching and frightening is the Supreme Court’s decision to take up a case challenging the city’s ban on handgun ownership in the court’s new term, which begins this week. The case is best considered a preview of coming attractions. The gun lobby, if it wins in the Supreme Court, is prepared to challenge every gun control law enacted at any level of government. It will usher in a scary season of assault on the common...

It was standing room only at a Staten Island town-hall meeting on health care last night, when close to 1,000 participants launched a raucous, ranting assault on President Obama's reform plan. Hundreds more were turned away from an auditorium that couldn't accommodate the crush that showed up for the meeting, sponsored by Democratic Rep. Mike McMahon. McMahon, a moderate who represents the city's most conservative district, fielded a barrage of questions on everything from tort reform to the so-called health-care public option. "We don't have any money to spend on anything, not health care," said Barbara Paolucci, 63, of Dongan...

Just eight months into a Democratic administration, Newsmax is running a piece speculating about a military overthrow of the elected leadership of the United States government. Seriously. Newsmax columnist John L. Perry encourages his right-wing readers not to "dismiss" the notion of an American military coup as "unrealistic." America isn't the Third World. If a military coup does occur here it will be civilized. That it has never happened doesn't mean it wont [sic]. Describing what may be afoot is not to advocate it.... Imagine a bloodless coup to restore and defend the Constitution through an interim administration that would...

Steve Israel (2nd district, Long Island, NY) is finally holding a townhall meeting this Monday, 10/5. As many on LI know, Israel has been ducking his constituents all summer. In typical cowardly fashion, he's trying to stack the audience with healthcare reform supporters, and asking them to show up earlier than the publicized start time. We intend to do the same. If anyone else in the area would like to join in, we'd love to have you. Here's the info I've rec'd on this meeting, from the group Individuals United for Freedom: Congressman Steve Israel's website has announced that he's...

I am currently working on an article about Congressman Mike Conaway (R - 11th District of Texas) and am wondering if anyone knows anyone who has raw video of him at a recent Town Hall meeting. In particular, I am looking for the questions and answers session of the meetings in which a mother of a soldier asked him a question and was given a rather specious reply. (Sorry for being so vague, but the specifics were not known by the individual who relayed this information to me).

Fresh from the introduction of HR1207, a bill to audit the Federal Reserve, Reps. Bachmann and Paul arrived at Northrop to paint a portrait of financial dystopia where “100 percent of your paycheck is being spoken for.” Bachmann predicts this will happen some time around 2050. Her voice rising to a high-pitched chant, she ticked off the list of financial aggressors: “Income tax, property tax, gas tax, sales tax—everytime-you-turn-around tax!” Meanwhile, over at the United Nations (the very mention of which drew a chorus of boos), they’ll likely work with China and Japan to “insist on replacing the American dollar...

If you think speeches attacking the U.S. Federal Reserve couldn't excite a Friday night crowd on a college campus, think again. About 2,000 people -- students and older adults who were in the majority -- filled Northrop Auditorium at the University of Minnesota to cheer libertarian Rep. Ron Paul, a Texas Republican, as he joined Rep. Michele Bachmann to preach the gospel of a less powerful federal government. Before Bachmann, R-Minn., introduced Paul, she hailed legislation of his that would require a detailed audit of the Fed. The crowd jumped to its feet and roared approval. When she described the...

The event, hosted by Young Americans for Liberty, is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at Northrop Auditorium on the campus of the University of Minnesota. Organizers said Bachmann and Paul will discuss "monetary reform, limited government and free market economics" and that their appearance is designed to counter "President Obama's health care proposal, bailout mania and the rapid rise of government control and spending."
