Obama Blasts GOP Critics of Iran Nuclear Deal President says opponents of accord are playing ‘fast and loose’ with facts By Carol E. Lee July 27, 2015 9:36 a.m. ET ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia—President Barack Obama excoriated Republican critics of the nuclear agreement with Iran—particularly the GOP presidential candidates—saying they’re playing “fast and loose” with the facts to scuttle the accord and making a mockery of the American political process. Mr. Obama has studiously avoided publicly commenting on the campaign to replace him, but on Monday he bristled over his signature foreign policy achievement becoming a centerpiece of the 2016 debate....

This is breathtaking in its own fanaticism—and in the ignorance that, one might have hoped, would have been tucked away after Romney’s 2012 presidential defeat at the hands of a lackluster incumbent. A survey of recent Iranian history suggests that its leaders, while starkly fundamentalist in their religious sensibility, conduct foreign policy based on a logical understanding of their national interests and an often brilliant pursuit of them within the context of geopolitical reality. They certainly never sent an army halfway around the world to overthrow the leader of a sovereign state with the intent of establishing a beachhead for...

As a police escort led the funeral procession for Marine Staff Sgt. David Wyatt to the Chattanooga National Cemetery, people in the Islamic Society of Greater Chattanooga mosque bowed their heads in prayer. And as thousands lined the streets of Chattanooga to wave American flags, hold signs and salute as the hearse passed them by, a small group of non-Muslims lined the back wall of the prayer room of the mosque to offer support for the local Islamic community. On July 16, Mohammad Youssef Abdulazeez, 24, from a local Muslim family, fatally shot four Marines at a Navy/Marine operations center...

Nevada Sen. Dean Heller knew it wasn’t a good idea to ban arms from our military bases and recruiting centers, which is why in June—weeks before the Chattanooga attack—he submitted an amendment to the 2016 National Defense Authorization Act which would “give military base commanders the authority to allow service members to carry personal firearms.” Unfortunately, his amendment was blocked, by none other than Sen. John McCain. The Republican senator explained in an interview on the Lars Larson Show that McCain, who’s the Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman, “didn’t want the amendment as part of the [2016 National Defense Authorization]...

A Twitter account allegedly run by Westboro Baptist church says that the congregation intends to protest the funerals of the military members killed in Chattanooga earlier this week. Group takes a shovel to Confederate General’s grave Posted 10:18 pm, July 22, 2015, by Eryn Taylor MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A group was fed up with waiting, so they got a shovel and dug up a patch of grass next to Nathan Bedford Forrest’s grave and statue in a public park in the Medical District. The group says they wanted the statue and remains removed for a long time, because he was a Confederate soldier, a KKK leader and a slave trader. “If he’s gone, some of this racism and race-hate might be gone,” said Isaac Richmond with Commission on...

On July 20, a policy letter from the U.S. Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) instructed recruiters to avoid contact and/or conversation with armed “law-abiding” civilians who volunteer to guard recruitment centers and to report said volunteers to law enforcement “if the recruiter feels threatened.” Stars and Stripes responded to the letter with a July 22 headline that read, “Army To Recruiters: Treat Armed Citizens As Security Threat.”

A New Jersey councilman apologized Wednesday after receiving criticism for a post he made on Facebook that called Chattanooga gunman Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez “Muslim scum.” “Murdering bastard. Rot in hell Muslim scum,” Hamilton Councilman Ed Gore, a Republican, wrote hours after Abdulazeez shot and killed five U.S. military service members July 16, The Trentonian reported. When someone responded by telling Mr. Gore not to hold back, he added, “Oh I never hold back on domestic terrorists.” Imam Qareeb Bashir, president of the Islamic Council of Greater Trenton, said he was “appalled and really disappointed” in Mr. Gore’s comments.

A group of anti-Confederate protesters aren’t happy enough with the declaration by the city of Memphis that it wants to dig up and move the remains of Confederate general Nathan Bedford Forrest. They want it done now. A group surrounded a shovel Wednesday and ceremoniously removed a chunk of grass and soil.

In the wake of the Chattanooga shootings, in which five unnamed U.S. servicemen were murdered by a self-radicalized jihadist, U.S. Army Chief of Staff Ray Odierno suggested that allowing soldiers on base or at recruiting centers “could cause more problems than it solves.” With all due respect to his service and status, this is nonsense.

It all started off so well for Secretary of State John Kerry. At the beginning of his testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee about the deal he crafted with Iran, Kerry got a hero’s welcome from a group of observers to the hearing. Granted, it was from the deep thinkers of Code Pink, but you gotta take what you can get, amirite? Kerry told the committee that he could guarantee this deal would prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon during the term of the agreement, which prompted chair Bob Corker (R-TN) to reply, “You’ve been fleeced“:

Anyone who doesn’t weep reading this has no heart. Marines SACRIFICED THEMSELVES to save the lives of others in jihad shooting. Obama sacrifices American lives to protect Islam. Some of the Marines who died at the hands of the Muslim Jihadi terrorist willingly put themselves in the line of fire to save the others and this new revelation of their heroism must be told. Hopefully more details will come out in the near future: NEW YORK TIMES – Some of the Marines who were shot to death last week in Chattanooga, Tenn., effectively sacrificed themselves to save the lives...

The Islamic State group’s effort to inspire troubled Americans to violence has become more of a terror threat to the U.S. than an external attack by al-Qaida, the FBI director said Wednesday. FBI Director James Comey told an audience at the Aspen Security Forum that the Islamic State group, which has proclaimed a caliphate in parts of Syria and Iraq, has influenced a significant but unknown number of Americans through a year-long campaign on social media urging Muslims who can’t travel to the Middle East to “kill where you are.” Twitter handles affiliated with the group have more than 21,000...

The Chattanooga gunman who killed five U.S. troops acted alone without help from anyone else, and investigators are treating him as a "homegrown violent extremist," the FBI said Wednesday. However, it is too early to determine whether Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez was "radicalized" before the attacks at two military sites, said Ed Reinhold, the FBI's special agent in charge in Knoxville. Officials did not clarify the difference between homegrown violent extremism and radicalization. For the first time, officials provided a rough timeline of what happened at the second facility the 24-year-old attacked. Abdulazeez opened fire on the first facility, a recruiting...

During the past legislative session, Representative Judd Matheny and Senator Bill Ketron of Tennessee authored important state-level counterterrorism legislation known as “Andy’s Law.” Andy’s Law, which has also passed in Arkansas, Kansas and Louisiana, strengthens state-level terrorism and material support for terrorism statutes, arming state and local law enforcement with vital legal tools as they become the tip of the spear in the war against Jihad. Andy’s Law also creates a civil legal cause of action, empowering victims of terrorism to seek damages from individuals and organizations that provide material support to those who commit acts of terrorism. Andy’s Law...

RUSH: So Obama's doing damage control in Pittsburgh. He just finished. He's addressing the -- I guess the VFW convention. He finally announced they're gonna lower the flag at the White House to half staff in honor of the Marines killed in Chattanooga. They held out as long as they could. They looked for a motive. They overturned every rock. They looked into every nook and cranny. They were desperate to find anything that they could latch onto that said this had nothing to do with militant Islam, and finally they found just the opposite. They found evidence that militant...

On the surface, Mohammad Youssef Abdulazeez and Dylan Roof might seem to have little in common but the brutal nature of their crimes. The former was a Muslim terrorist who killed five U.S. servicemen and wounded several others at a recruiting office in Chattanooga last week. The latter is the white supremacist who slaughtered nine innocent people at a historic black church in Charleston last month.
