FOX News Channel’s (FNC) coverage of the debate between incumbent Vice President Mike Pence and Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris set a record for the highest-rated US vice presidential debate in the country’s cable news history, according to data from Nielsen Media Research. FNC’s coverage averaged 11,315,000 in total viewers and 2,905,000 in A25-54, making it the most-watched debate coverage in all of television in total viewers, beating ABC, NBC, CBS and all cable news networks. Co-anchored by FNC’s Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, the entirety of FNC’s special presentation of the vice presidential candidates first standoff garnered 10,884,000...

Explanation: The delightful Dark Doodad Nebula drifts through southern skies, a tantalizing target for binoculars in the constellation Musca, The Fly. The dusty cosmic cloud is seen against rich starfields just south of the prominent Coalsack Nebula and the Southern Cross. Stretching for about 3 degrees across this scene the Dark Doodad is punctuated at its southern tip (lower left) by globular star cluster NGC 4372. Of course NGC 4372 roams the halo of our Milky Way Galaxy, a background object some 20,000 light-years away and only by chance along our line-of-sight to the Dark Doodad. The Dark Doodad's well...

The fly that Barack Obama killed the other day during an interview at the White House is probably the second-most famous fly in history. The MOST famous fly ever you can see in this VIDEO. And after all these years, it still totally creeps me out to see that scene. Here is a DUFU homework assignment. Edit the video of Obama killing the fly with The Fly. I'm thinking when they show a closeup in the video of the fly in the White House, we actually see the final moments of The Fly.

IN DIRECTOR David Cronenberg's 1986 movie "The Fly" -- remember "Be afraid. Be very afraid"? -- scientist Seth Brundle (Jeff Goldblum) commits a fatal error when he combines his own genes with those of a common housefly. At Los Angeles Opera these days, another dicey blending of species is taking place: Film directors are mutating into opera directors -- with, it's hoped, less alarming results.

Be afraid, be very afraid: David Cronenberg's 1986 horror flick, "The Fly," has undergone a bizarre metamorphosis. It's now an opera. The new incarnation, with tenor Placido Domingo conducting a score by Oscar-winning composer Howard Shore ("The Lord of the Rings"), isn't as gory as the movie. Audiences will be spared close-ups of the title character's fingernails falling off as he makes the transition from mild-mannered scientist to giant insect. Still, for an opera, it's pretty scary - even if there are touches of dark humor. Giggles broke out among those invited to Monday's dress rehearsal when a mezzo-soprano belted...

A British pro-life group warns that a new type of embryo research, likely to be approved this week by a U.K. government panel, undermines human dignity. Britain's Human Fertilization and Embryology Authority is expected to give a green light this week to U.K. laboratories seeking to create the first animal-human embryos for medical research using eggs taken from dead cows. British scientists want to use the hybrid embryos in order to research genetic diseases. Anthony Ozimic, political secretary for the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children, opposes the embryo-destructive research. He says that an "a-nucleated" cow egg will only...
