I don't ever laud a restaurant on this forum or the internet, but this time is an exception. I grew up in Thailand and this restaurant has awesome Thai food...REALLY good! It is in Del Valle just east of Austin and has very good food at a reasonable price...if you can get a seat. Can't tell you how I found about it because that is proprietary business information, but highly recommend. You need to meet "Tenet" when you go there. Very good place to eat.

This is the terrifying moment a crazed woman attacked a couple in Thailand with a Samurai sword after they 'refused to have a threesome with her'. Swinger Aum, 40, used to have sex with the couple, whose nicknames are Air, 35, and his wife Note, 38, but they cut ties with her over a year ago after refusing an invite for group sex with Aum's Bangkok-based boyfriend. Aum subsequently broke off her relationship with the man, but the couple claimed she continued to pester them for threesomes despite them having rejected her advances on a number of occasions. Yet the...

Thousands of Russian tourists in Thailand are struggling to find a route home, Thai officials said Sunday, as international sanctions imposed over the war in Ukraine hit holiday-makers. Russia's invasion in February provoked a host of international measures targetting businesses and banks, with some Russian carriers cancelling flights and global payment firms suspending services. Russians tourists have been among the largest group of visitors to return to Thailand's beachside resorts since pandemic restrictions eased, but many now find themselves without a return ticket. Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) official Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya said 3,100 Russians were stuck in Phuket,...

Millions of filthy, used medical gloves — some even obviously bloodstained — were imported into the US from Thailand amid a shortage of personal protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a disturbing report. A months-long investigation by CNN found that the soiled, second-hand nitrile gloves were shipped to desperate US distributors after import regulations were suspended at the start of the pandemic to address surging demand. “There was just no other answer. There was no way to meet the demand,” industry expert Douglas Stein said told CNN. “But that opened the floodgates for all the nefarious behavior.”

That is what Joe Biden implied in his justification behind the withdrawal of the US forces from Afghanistan during the first week of this month. Japanese auto group Toyota Motor has halted operations at its three factories in Thailand as the country's delta-variant COVID epidemic disrupts the supply of key automobile parts. The closures underline how the pandemic is still putting the automobile supply chain under strain. The stoppage started from Wednesday (July 21) and will last at least until July 28, Nikkei has learned. Toyota said it will "assess the situation and decide" whether to resume operations from July 29. The carmaker has sourced wire harnesses to connect electrical components from an external factory, which was recently forced to shut down temporarily due to...

BANGKOK: More than 10 million people were placed under fresh COVID-19 restrictions and a curfew in the Thai capital Monday (Jul 12), as the country battled a surge of cases worsened by the highly infectious Alpha and Delta variants. Thailand has so far recorded more than 345,000 cases and 2,791 deaths - with the bulk of them coming in this latest wave that started in April. First detected in clubs frequented by the Thai elite and politicians at an upscale Bangkok nightlife district, the surge has been exacerbated by a slow vaccine rollout and limited testing capacity. BANGKOK (AP) — Several countries around Asia and the Pacific that are experiencing their first major surges of the coronavirus rushed to impose tough restrictions, a year and a half into a pandemic that many initially weathered well. Faced with rapidly rising numbers of infections in recent months, authorities in such countries as Thailand, South Korea and Vietnam announced or imposed measures Friday that they hope can slow the spread before health care systems are overwhelmed. It’s a rhythm familiar in much of the world, where repeated surges deluged hospitals and led to high numbers of deaths. But many Asian...

A massive explosion at a factory on the outskirts of Bangkok has damaged homes in the surrounding neighborhoods and prompted the evacuation of a wide area over fears of poisonous fumes from burning chemicals and the possibility of additional detonations. Styrene monomer, a hazardous liquid chemical used in the production of disposable foam plates, cups and other products, can produce poisonous fumes when ignited. Chailit said officials were trying to move all people out of the area, including doctors and patients from the neighborhood's main hospital where many of the casualties were initially treated, over fear of the fumes and...

A diamond is forever but what happens if you throw a parrot into the mix? On Tuesday (June 22), Frosty, a pet parrot in Bangkok, Thailand, raided its owner's jewellery box and appeared to be enamoured of what it had found inside. A diamond necklace caught the bird's eye and that spelt trouble — Frosty decided to gobble the sparkly jewels up for breakfast. By lunchtime, the eight-month-old sun parakeet looked weak and had lost its appetite. Noticing something was off, the bird's owner quickly brought it to the nearby Animal Space Hospital for an X-ray. Chances are she (and...

Ratchadawan Puengprasopporn said her family was asleep when she heard noises coming from the kitchen. When she and her husband went to investigate, they saw the elephant poking its head into her kitchen, rummaging through the shelves and eating a plastic bag containing food. This isn’t the first intrusion she’s had from Boonmee, a wild male elephant in his forties known among residents and park officials as a frequent visitor to the village. Local authorities and national parks officials visited Ratchadawan and her family the next day and advised her to remove food, especially anything salty. Pattarapol Maneeon, a veterinarian...

I have spent more hours than I'd like to admit in a 7-Eleven. A daily conversation every summer growing up involved my friends and me asking each other how much change we each had and if we should go get a Slurpee and play some arcade games. We'd then scrounge up all our loose change, rifle through the couch to get a few more coins, and then mounted our bikes and headed to "Sev," as we lovingly referred to it. We'd get there, try every flavor or Slurpee, then finally fill up our giant cups with some absurd concoction of...
