Suspects arrested last weekend in France under anti-terrorism measures had been planning to launch attacks on Dec. 1 at important and landmark sites in and around Paris, according to a source close to the inquiry. Police sources said that among the targets were France's counter-intelligence services hub in the Paris suburb of Levallois-Perret, the grandiose police crime-investigation headquarters at the Quai des Orfevres, and the riverside high court building nearby. Also targeted by the would-be attackers were the Disneyland Paris theme park 32 kilometers (20 miles) east of the city and the Champs Elysees shopping strip.

Belgium has launched new security measures at Brussels Airport after suicide bombings there in March, taking inspiration from controls at Ben Gurion in Israel, among the most heavily protected airports in the world. Islamist suicide bombers killed 16 people and injured over 150 in the departure hall of Brussels Airport on March 22. France said it had foiled a militant plot and arrested seven people in the southern port city of Marseille and the eastern city of Strasbourg. At least 27 people have been injured after a man set fire to a branch of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia in the Melbourne suburb of Springvale, according to local media reports. Police say the man has been hospitalized in serious condition. Several people who were inside the bank at the time of the incident are being treated for serious burns. Residents of San Bernardino County, Calif., faced terrorism concerns Tuesday after 17 men of Middle Eastern descent were witnessed firing off several hundred rounds in remote parts of Apple Valley. A county sheriff’s helicopter managed to located the men, who were carrying backpacks “and other items” prior to arrest. ARMED anti-terror police were flooding London today amid fears a BOMB found on a Tube train last night was just the first of many. Officers tasered and arrested a 19-year-old man after a "viable improvised explosive device" was found on a Tube train at North Greenwich. North Greenwich tube station was evacuated for nearly seven hours after London Underground staff found the suspect package on an eastbound Jubilee Line train. But experts warned the IED may have been just the first in a co-ordinated attack on the capital.

FOREST HILLS, Queens — Police are looking for a man who called in a bomb threat from a Queens subway station Thursday. Surveillance footage from the Forest Hills subway station, located at the intersection of Queens Boulevard and 71st Avenue, shows the man before and after the call was placed shortly before 9:30 a.m. Thursday, according to the NYPD.
