(CNSNews.com) – Power plants generating 72 gigawatts (GW) of electricity in 37 states have either closed or are scheduled to shut their doors to comply with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations, according to the Institute for Energy Research (IER). The loss of generating capacity is “over seven times the amount originally predicted by EPA modeling,” IER’s updated report, released October 7, noted. “Originally, EPA calculated that only 9.5 GW of electrical generating capacity would close as a result of its MATS (Mercury and Air Toxics Standard) and CSAPR (Cross State Air Pollution Rule) rules,” the report stated. “Before President Obama’s...

YES on 1, TN is #3 in out of state abortions. Why Yes on 1 Who We Are YES on 1 is a community-based outreach to raise awareness of the proposed pro-life constitutional amendment slated for public vote in 2014. Local committees in support of YES on 1 are being developed in communities, counties, churches and campuses across the state. Because of a radical 4-1 ruling by the Tennessee Supreme Court in 2000, Tennessee now boasts a broader right to abortion than that recognized by Roe v. Wade or the U.S. Constitution. Background Basic commonsense protections passed by the Tennessee...

One man made the discovery of a lifetime while out on a recent hike. Jordan Liles, who currently lives in San Diego, California, was in Tennessee back in May 2013 when he decided to take some photos  during a trek through Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Those photos turned out to be incredibly interesting when the young man managed to stumble across a seemingly forgotten town in the woods.

Yesterday Secret Service Director Julia Pierson fielded questions from furious and skeptical lawmakers after a number of serious failures by the agency to properly protect the President. Pierson started her testimony by saying she "takes full responsibility" for the failures, especially the most recent incident of fence jumper Omar Gonzales making it all the way inside the White House, but failed to answer a number of questions. Republican Congressman Trey Gowdy questioned Pierson on a shooting incident that occurred at the White House in 2011. Pierson failed to provide adequate answers as to why that incident was first classified as simply...

Once again, some clergy are hanging out with Planned Parenthood, united for a cause that surely opposes God’s cause for life. Held at Evergreen Presbyterian Church (PC-USA, a supporter of abortion) in Memphis , TN, the event opposing the upcoming ballot Amendment 1, a pro-life amendment, was attended by varying clergy who argue that women should have the choice to kill. In fact, Amendment 1 is rather innocuous, saying only this: “Shall Article I, of the Constitution of Tennessee be amended by adding the following language as a new, appropriately designated section: “Nothing in this Constitution secures or protects a...

Isa Infante, the liberal Green Party candidate running for governor in Tennessee, is hiring people to create profiles on social media, such as Reddit, pretend to be an average user, then push for her "progressive" agenda. Ms. Infante is a self-labelled "progressive" candidate for Tennessee. Part of her platform is "ecological wisdom, social justice, feminism, and nonviolence." But, of course, as a Green Party candidate, she has had trouble gaining traction in the race. Her campaign, therefore, is now posting ads looking for people to pose as average social media users to pretend to have "found" this wonderful, liberal candidate....

The Obama administration is living in "fantasyland" if it thinks Americans are buying its no-ground-troops strategy on fighting the Islamic State (ISIS), Rep. Marsha Blackburn says. Blackburn, a Tennessee Republican, adds that Secretary of State John Kerry's flip-flopping on whether the U.S. is "at war" with ISIS mirrors his boss's confusing take on the problem. "Bear in mind, this is pretty much the way they have operated since they went into office," Blackburn, a Tennessee Republican, said Monday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV. "Words matter, actions matter . . . You can't just go say [we've] changed...

Numbers aren't everything. Chattanooga's Hispanic population more than tripled between 2000 and 2010. But that growth may not have translated to the local economy. An analysis by personal finance social network WalletHub ranked Chattanooga third among the 150 largest U.S. cities for growth in the Hispanic population. Yet the Scenic City ranked closer to the bottom of the list for Hispanic purchasing power and business friendliness toward Hispanics. With a population of 54 million, Hispanics now make up the nation's largest ethnic or racial minority, and by 2050 could make up a third of the population. And their influence on...

An upstate New York lawmaker said the loss of manufacturing jobs in the state last month is due to an anti-gun administration that has ignored pleas from local officials to be involved in the negotiating process. “Remington talks have come to a halt,” said Assemblyman Marc W. Butler (R.-Newport), whose district includes the Village of Ilion, where the Remington Outdoor Company has been located for almost 200 years. “We are losing 105 jobs at the Ilion primary plant,” said Butler. In February he predicted long-term consequences of Remington’s decision to expand to Huntsville, Ala., instead of Ilion, N.Y. The small...

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)There are 65 prominent people who might run for president in 2016. The Democratic and Republican fields contrast sharply. Hillary Clinton is the clear front-runner, while there is no front-runner on the Republican side. Twenty-three Democrats have been mentioned as a candidate or are eyeing a bid, according to an analysis by The Hill. The GOP side has 42. Most of the people on this list won’t run, and some have adamantly claimed that they’re not interested. But many politicians have changed their minds on seeking the White House.
