We’ve all looked up a word to find out its definition, but some of the political terms on Google’s “dictionary” are biased and could have long term implications for our nation’s political future. If you look up the word “conservative,” for example, you get these acceptable synonyms: traditionalist, conventional, orthodox, stable, prudent, and old-fashioned. But these are also accompanied by these rather unflattering words: dyed-in-the-wool, unchanging, hidebound, timid, unadventurous, unenterprising, and set in one's ways, and stick in the mud.Terms associated with leftist politics did not have such condescending synonyms. The word “progressive” was described as modern, liberal, advanced, forward-looking, forward-thinking, go-ahead, enlightened, enterprising,...

Twitter reportedly suspended an account on Tuesday night that had been retweeted by President Trump just hours earlier. Trump on Tuesday afternoon retweeted the account, which went by the name “LYNN THOMAS” and had posted a tweet that called Democrats “THE TRUE ENEMIES OF AMERICA," the Daily Beast reports. “DEMOCRATS ARE THE ONLY ONES INTERFERING IN OUR ELECTIONS. WHY DO YOU THINK THEY SO STRONGLY OPPOSE VOTER ID,” read the tweet, which was accompanied by a graphic that read “DEMOCRATS ARE THE TRUE ENEMIES OF AMERICA.” Twitter told CNN that the account was suspended for violating its terms and conditions...

Last week, mostly lost in the news cycle of Trump versus “the squad” and the anticipation of the Mueller hearings, was the testimony of Dr. Robert Epstein in front of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution regarding the power of Google to manipulate elections. Epstein, a Harvard Ph.D. in psychology and behavioral sciences, is a Democrat who voted for Clinton in 2016. Yet what he testified to should be troubling to every American who is concerned about election integrity and the threats of manipulation by powers both foreign and domestic. Epstein testified, based on 13,000 saved search results of...

When I posted a quick item last month about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez standing in front of a chain-link fence and weeping at an empty strip of pavement on the other side, I didn't think much of it. I just thought it was amusing that AOC posed for the cameras, got the publicity she wanted, and then was embarrassed when other photos taken at the scene revealed what she was actually looking at: So AOC was really just trying to get some stock border crisis images for Getty. The “crying at the border” pics were just crying at cars behind a...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday kept up his pressure on global tech giant Google days after his Treasury secretary ruled out any national security concerns over the company’s work in China. Trump, in a tweet, did not offer any evidence of a problem with Google’s business in China but said if there were any issues, his administration would find out about it. On Wednesday, U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said he and Trump had both had direct talks with Google’s chief executive and were assured that the tech company’s work with China was “very, very limited.”

Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes reportedly met with the Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and multiple state attorneys general in recent weeks to discuss breaking up Facebook. Hughes and two prominent antitrust academics, Scott Hemphill and Tim Wu, met with federal and state officials and have laid out a possible antitrust case against the social media giant, The New York Times reported Thursday. The group argues that Facebook has made “serial defensive acquisitions” to maintain its control over the market and allow the company to hike up advertising prices while also lowering the quality of the user experience,...

020 Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard is suing Google over allegations that the tech giant violated her right to “free speech.” The Democratic Hawaii Rep. alleged that Google censored her presidential campaign, according to a complaint filed Thursday. Google suspended her campaign’s advertising for several hours last month, The Hill reported, and Gabbard‘s complaint stated that it is a violation of free speech. (snip) “In the hours following the 1st debate, while millions of Americans searched for info about Tulsi, Google suspended her search ad account w/o explanation,” Gabbard tweeted Thursday. “It is vital to our democracy that big tech...

Last week, at the invitation of Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, I spoke to the Senate Judiciary Committee about Google’s having placed more than 60 Prager University videos on its restricted list. ast week, at the invitation of Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, I spoke to the Senate Judiciary Committee about Google’s having placed more than 60 Prager University videos on its restricted list. Any family that filters out pornography and violence cannot see those particular videos on YouTube (which is owned by Google); nor can any school or library. This statement is as much about what I and PragerU stand for...

Today, Google announced that Youngstown, Ohio, will be the first city in its Compass Experiment, a joint venture with newspaper publishing company McClatchy to revive local news. The announcement couldn't be more timely, as Youngstown's long standing publication The Vindicator will close its doors on August 31st. The Compass Experiment, part of the Google News Initiative, aims to develop sustainable business models for local news organizations. It plans to launch digital platforms in three mid-sized communities, with the Youngstown site going live this fall. In addition to covering local news, Compass will test a variety of revenue models. The goal...

Discussions about social media censorship have been going on long before Mark Zuckerberg appeared before Congress to testify about Facebook. Figures like President Trump have brought to the national stage claims that social media giants are disproportionately censoring conservative voices. What we should all be discussing though, is who exactly are the people that are censoring us? Last month, employees contracted by Facebook to perform content moderation, broke their non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) to speak with Casey Newton, who then published a 7000-word, pseudo-expose on The Verge. While Newton’s purpose of his article was to portray Facebook as running a de...

Within hours of Pearl Harbor, President Franklin Roosevelt began summoning the heads of American industry to Washington. Roosevelt knew the country would need an unprecedented buildup of planes, ships, and other war materiel. Without hesitation, American companies responded. Ford, Packard, Chrysler, 3M, Hormel, General Mills, Pillsbury, Cargill, Boeing, and many other major U.S. companies gave their all to the war effort. At Roosevelt's request, the president of General Motors even left his company to oversee the war production effort as a lieutenant general in the U.S. Army. Roosevelt's initial request for 50,000 new airplanes per year was openly mocked by...

From the very beginning, Google has always been about one thing above all else: knowledge. Even as the company has grown and evolved, our mission has remained the same: to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. A core part of our mission is our work to provide access to high-quality information for everyone. Over the last few years, though, there have been accusations that tech companies like Google are censoring conservative speech by injecting political bias into our products. As the head of Google’s government affairs team, I’ll be testifying on this topic before a...

Google's smart speakers allow contractors for the tech giant to listen to excerpts of private conversations, including some with potentially sensitive information, according to a new investigation from a Belgian public broadcaster. This news is the latest in a series of reports about recordings from Big Tech's in-home devices being accessible to workers. According to VRT NWS, which reviewed more than 1,000 recorded excerpts – 153 of which should not have been recorded because the "OK, Google" command was not given – one contractor said he transcribes around 1,000 audio clips from Google Assistant every week. However, sometimes the recording...

Google has a knife that it holds over the jugular vein of all internet publications that depend on advertising revenue.  It holds a dominant position in the digital advertising market and could, by denying ad revenue to any digital publication it targets, drive that voice out of business. Now, according to information from Project Veritas, a very large number of Google employees are demanding that Google drive Breitbart.com out of business.  Alana Mastrangelo reports at Breitbart: An internal Google petition "to end Google's business with Breitbart" was recently leaked to Project Veritas. The petition — which over 1,000 Google employees have signed...

DUBLIN, July 5, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) — Google admitted to interference in Ireland’s 2018 abortion referendum but claimed that it was merely to “help voters.” In revelations made by pro-transparency website Project Veritas, YouTube “blacklisted” a large number of videos on its platform in advance of the referendum while also interfering with search results. YouTube is wholly owned by Google. When voters searched for specific terms on YouTube, the results of their searches were manually altered by Google, thus assuring that the videos selected by Google reach the top of the search results. Among the searches affected by interference from Google...
