Today, Google announced that Youngstown, Ohio, will be the first city in its Compass Experiment, a joint venture with newspaper publishing company McClatchy to revive local news. The announcement couldn't be more timely, as Youngstown's long standing publication The Vindicator will close its doors on August 31st.
The Compass Experiment, part of the Google News Initiative, aims to develop sustainable business models for local news organizations. It plans to launch digital platforms in three mid-sized communities, with the Youngstown site going live this fall. In addition to covering local news, Compass will test a variety of revenue models. The goal is to make each operation financially self-sustaining and to share lessons learned with other publications.
Trust Googlelag? I think not.
google...bringing local and regional propaganda right to your own homepage!!!
F’em.....
Will they be liberal news outlets????? Reporting/commentary only from the leftist view???? How “inclusive” will they be? Liberals are all about being “inclusive” so they say.
Ah, Google has realized that when we read national news stories about “random” and “unprovoked” violent crime, we follow the links to the local version to see what information was delicately left out. They want to teach reporters at the local level, if there is inter-racial crime, only report it if the victim is darker than the perp. If the victim is lighter, leave out all descriptors and run a fuzzy stock photo of a white guy in a ski-mask.
How about a Googletv in every airport in the world?
Google- Dominating information since 19— Google is far more ‘dangerous’ to the election [process than Russians ever thought of being- but liberals are silent about it because google benefits them 100%
I would love to see them get rid of these grinning jackass news presenters though.
Google and McClatchy.
Al Jazeera and Pravda would be more trustworthy, in my opinion, to provide more truthful news coverage.
McClatchy + GooGleski == ‘Local’ news like you’ve never seen it before.
Means using the Google anti-conservative yardstick.
Ah would this Google be the same Google....

These tech companies need to GTFO of our lives.
Isn’t Youngstown historically one of the most corrupt cities in America?
With Google censors determining what is and isn’t “all the news that’s fit to print, or not”, and Google making sure its search algorithms lift up, above the line, the “news” links to the Compass affiliated publications.
Google is not a company. It’s a political agenda operating under the guise of a company.
Google, which willingly parnered with China to monitor and rate citizens. Google, which deliberately changes search results so they come out favorable to the left. Google which is run by America-hating leftists proposes to bring us local news?
Not on your life!
Hmm, guess google wants to take Ohio from a swing state to full on D.
"Nunes claims that McClatchys reporters should come clean with the American people and publish a retraction of their fake news reports. One such story which was published in 2018 claimed he invested in the Alpha Omega Winery. When McClatchy editors realized it was a bogus allegation, they scrubbed it from the Internet. Nunes told the Hannity audience that he will file more legal challenges. NUNES FILES CRIMINAL CHARGES AGAINST ARCHITECTS OF ANTI-TRUMP COUP, ROCKIT NEWS, April 11, 2019.
Walter Cronkite got his misinformation talent from Edward Murrow. Not sure where Murrow got his. Josef Goebbels or Lord Hawhah?
Hmm, guess google wants to take Ohio from a swing state to full on D.

Is there any real local/regional news, anymore?
I’m in SW WI. We have Lee Enterprises which owns everything: major paper in La Crosse and the little daily/weeklies in the region, plus all the former shoppers.
Lee is true-blue left and hasn’t reported the truth if it crossed the narrative agenda in maybe 15 or more years.
