Does Chuck Norris wear Tim Tebow pajamas? It seems that Norris thinks Tebow may be the Superman of the NFL. In a column penned on Newsbusters.org, Norris makes his case for why he thinks Tebow could be a superstar. “I have been following Tim since he became a QB for the University of Florida Gators,” Norris wrote, “and I never have seen a more determined or inspiring athlete to play the game of football.” Fair enough, determination and inspirational qualities are admirable traits, but what concrete skills does Tebow posses to prove that he is capable of becoming a legend?...

As a journalist who has consistently experienced the wrath of Tebow Nation — mostly for passing along the slings and arrows voiced by various NFL players, coaches and talent-evaluators — I'm well aware that many devotees of the world's most celebrated unemployed quarterback carry a heavy persecution complex. Yet as Tim Tebow's career wheezes to an underwhelming halt, with less apparent interest in his services than Massachusetts funeral parlors have in Tamerlan Tsarnaev's remains, something strange is happening. Against all odds, I'm starting to wonder whether the man who helped the Denver Broncos become one of the league's most stunning...

The “Tebowmania” days in Denver are only 15 months old, but it seems like 15 years. And yet, when Americans are asked which pro athletes they believe carry the most influence with the public, Tebow’s name tops the list. A unique set of QB strengths and weaknesses and an affinity for wearing his Christian faith on his sleeve combine to make Tebow a compelling public figure, even as an NFL backup. Whether or not he’s able to remain deeply ingrained in the public consciousness without eventually getting more time on the field remains to be seen. But for now, Tebow,...

Off goes Tim Tebow, the player they pursued hard but never really wanted. They shamed him for their own lousy judgment, showing him on Monday just how disgusted they were. Perhaps they are right – Tim Tebow might not be an NFL player. At least not a quarterback. But they could have done a lot better than kick him in the face on a day when they should be wiping the mud from their own.

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: So Tim Tebow is gone from the New York Jets. The New York media is ecstatic. Let me ask you a question. Two years ago Tim Tebow was the most popular, in a certain way. This is undeniable. Two years ago Tim Tebow was the most popular. I'm not saying he's the best player, don't anybody misunderstand. The most popular, the most intriguing player in the NFL. Two years later, poof, gone. Who was his agent? How in the world does something like this happen? And now the New York media is all excited. The New York...

Tim Tebow has been waived by the Jets, the end of an unsuccessful one-season experiment in New York. Coach Rex Ryan said in a statement put out by the team in announcing the move Monday morning: "Unfortunately, things did not work out the way we all had hoped."

The Tim Tebow era is over in New York. The Jets have released Tebow, the New York Post is reporting. Tebow was widely expected to be on the way out for months, and the only surprise is that the Jets waited until now to do it. The arrival of rookie quarterback Geno Smith in the second round of the NFL draft may have been what it took for the Jets to decide that there was simply no room for Tebow on the roster anymor

[ . . . ] No statement short of celebrating and affirming the normalization of homosexuality will be found acceptable to those now demanding an answer. Writing for Yahoo! Sports, Jay Busbee stated what is now obvious: "Whatever the reason for his cancellation, Tebow is fast approaching the point where he'll need to make more definitive stands on his own. . . . He has the power and potential to be an influential voice for his religion, but he'll need to decide how much of that religion he wishes to demonstrate." Now, take out Tebow's name and insert your own....

On Thursday, NFL quarterback Tim Tebow canceled his appearance to speak at First Baptist Church of Dallas next month after Tebow came under pressure from the sports media to do so.

New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow is scheduled to speak at a megachurch in Dallas whose pastor has spoken out against Muslims, Jews, Mormons and members of the LGBT community. Tebow is listed as a special guest at one of the First Baptist Church's morning services on April 28, according to its website. The church is led by Evangelical pastor Robert Jeffress, who has previously denounced non-Christian religions such as Islam, Judaism and Mormonism. Leading up to the most recent presidential election, Jeffress warned parishioners that re-electing President Barack Obama would "lead to the rise of the Antichrist," according to...

It's a battle between Tim Tebow and worldliness, and right now worldliness is winning -- or was, until last weekend. It always seems to win. Really, it never does (in the end). Let's back up a moment. Tebow, as you probably recall, is the openly Christian quarterback who often wins in improbable (read: miraculous) fashion. Two years ago, he and his mother made headlines when they appeared in a pro-life Super Bowl commercial (controversial because it stood against abortion). Last year his remarkable, come-from-behind victories as quarterback for the Denver Broncos captivated the American imagination. "Tebowing" became a new way...

This has not been the best week for New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow. First, on Wednesday, Jets Coach Rex Ryan says Greg McElroy will replace Mark Sanchez as the Jets' starter, leaving Tebow on the bench. Then, on Thursday, US Weekly reports that Tebow has broken up with actress Camilla Belle after two months of dating. Belle is famous for starring in "From Prada to Nada" and "Dirty Dancing 3." And when I say famous, I mean "been in movies no one has ever heard of or watched." US Weekly says the breakup came because "the relationship just didn't...

Cortland may be a little less crowded next summer. ESPN president John Skipper has told producers that the cable giant needs to spend less time talking about Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow. "I said, 'Guys, we didn't handle this very well.' Going to training camp wasn't a problem. We just stayed on it relentlessly and too long," Skipper told Sports Business Journal.

Tim Tebow only played three snaps on offense against the Rams yesterday. Coincidentally or not, the Jets won 27-13 and Mark Sanchez had his best game since Week 1. At this point it's crystal clear that the Tebow takeover that everyone assumed would happen when the Jets traded for him just isn't going to happen. If there was ever a time to turn to Tebow, it was this week. The Jets were desperate — 3-6 after two-straight 20-point losses. And Mark Sanchez was in a certifiable tailspin, sitting in the bottom five in the league in passer rating and completion...

Tebowmania may have captivated the NFL last season, but Tim Tebow’s new team doesn’t believe that he’s a savior. More than a dozen Jets players and members of the organization painted a sobering picture of the player who rallied the Broncos to the playoffs last season. In their eyes, he’s simply not very good. The prevailing thought in the organization is that Tebow is nothing more than a gimmick. “He’s terrible,” a defensive starter told the Daily News. Although Tebow told The News last month that he has made improvements as a quarterback over the past few months, none of...

I'm a Jets fan, and I have been one for almost 25 years now. I'm also a Tim Tebow fan, since his days playing for the Gators in my native Florida. He seems like a really quality guy, in pretty much every respect. The only knock on Tebow is that he can't throw accurately. Maybe that will continue to be valid, or maybe not. In the meantime the Jets have Mark Sanchez, the worst QB in the league stinking up the place every week, and Rex Ryan continues to stand by his man. I'm confused. They say Tebow can't throw...

Tim Tebow is no longer playing the field. The hunky New York Jets' back up quarterback is finally stepping out in public with new girlfriend, actress Camilla Belle. First reported by TMZ, the NFL player has scored in the game of love with the gorgeous Brazilian beauty. The two were spotted on Tuesday in Jacksonville, Fla. in a group outing with friends. Witnesses said the duo was cozy...

Rex Ryan's ill conceived whim deprived Tebow & Fans of an important year in his pro career. Rex may well be job hunting next season but he should trade Tebow to a team who will START him and give fans what they want. This is a business and what Ryan has done BAD business... (I feel embarrassed talking about football while western civilization crumbles. All I can say is football is my -only- diversion and sometimes I need an escape.)

ABCNews and Yahoo has the following article (link only): It’s Tebow time for Biden and Ryan: How the VP debate could change the end game The article focuses on the Ryan-Biden debate. But a bigger question in my mind: what if Tim Tebow came out in Strong Support of Paul Ryan because of religious reasons. Tim Tebow and his mother made the very powerful anti-abortion (pro-life) commercial while he was in college. Now, for the same reason, what would happen if Tim Tebow would come out swinging for Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney because their campaign supports his Christian values....

Tim Tebow just pointed out a very devilish fact ... tonight's NFL matchup is the 666th Monday Night Football game ... and it just so happens, Tim's team is playing in the game. As the NY Jets prepare for battle with the Houston Texans ... Tebow just tweeted, "Looking forward to giving God all the glory in tonight's 666th Monday Night Football game. Romans 8:37-39." Before you head to Google, here's the bible quote Tim referenced: "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life,...

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Tim Tebow may one day take his “Wildcat” offense to another field entirely: politics. The most talked about player in football said in an interview that once he’s done with football he’ll “at least look at and consider one day” a run for office. “I haven’t ruled it out. Whatever avenue I feel like I can make a difference in, I’d love to do,” the Jets’ backup quarterback told ESPN New York. “I haven’t ruled out anything like that. It won’t be anytime soon in my future, but it’ll be something I’ll at least look at...

President Obama said Thursday that the New York Jets quarterback situation would make him "pretty nervous" if he were a fan of the team. The Jets acquired Denver phenom Tim Tebow in the off-season, but are playing him as a backup to Mark Sanchez. "I've got to tell you, I don't like the idea of a quarterback controversy at the start of the season," Obama said on Columbus' 97.1 The Fan in a Thursday call-in appearance on The Common Man & The Torg's radio program. (Also on POLITICO: NY Jets brush off Obama critique) "If I was a Jets fan,...

When it comes to faith in sports, Tim Tebow is probably the first guy who comes to mind. Tebow has most people thinking that being a Christian likely involves some form of constant prayer, shout-outs to Jesus and rules that get rid of a lot of fun. But Tebow's outspokenness isn't the only way athletes sincerely approach faith. Bryce Harper, who ascribes to Mormonism, has become an example of another young, talented player who is bringing his beliefs into the public eye, albeit it in a much different way. Both Tebow and Harper are showing the sports world that there...

Charges have been filed against a New Jersey man who allegedly made repeated 911 calls, then called police headquarters and said he was the president and wanted to speak with New York Jets QB Tim Tebow. Hopatcong police said the 28-year-old man, charged with creating false public alarms, made three 911 calls on June 10, but refused each time to give dispatchers any information on why he was calling. --snip-- After getting the mother’s permission to search her bedroom, the man was found inside her closet, hiding under some pillows.

A high school senior’s diploma was withheld after he Tebowed on stage during his graduation ceremony last weekend. 17-year-old Chuck Shriner played football for Fort Myers Catholic school and thought Tebowing after crossing the stage would make his ceremony “fun” and “memorable.” While his move elicited plenty of laughs, it didn’t go over well with the school’s administration. Shriner’s diploma was withheld at the behest of his mother, who is also a teacher at the school. “They said what I did would give underclassmen inspiration to do something else, that it might lead to something else,” Shriner said about the...

The playful jabs started from five, maybe six, lockers away. New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott began digging into quarterback Tim Tebow, pestering him in a style that sent a jolt of hilarity through those close enough to witness the exchange. The first round didn't last long -- still long enough for Scott to win with a Baby Jesus reference and a request for a baptism in the cold tub. But a few minutes later, as recounted by a present member of the New York media, Tebow walked past Scott, who was outstretched on the floor of the locker room...

When Tim Tebow was traded from the Denver Broncos to the New York Jets, media reports focused on two issues: first, how would the trade affect starting quarterback, Mark Sanchez? And second, how would the unapologetically evangelical Tebow do in New York City? More than one Christian writer has even referred to my hometown as "Babylon."Now, if all you have to go on are television and movies, then I can see why you might think that New York is particularly hostile to Christians and Christianity. Apart from weddings, I can't recall any fictional New Yorkers attending church services. The key is...

While meeting with the media Thursday, new Jets offensive coordinator Tony Sparano naturally was asked about his new quarterback, Tim Tebow. Quite naturally, the idea coach Rex Ryan presented in March that Tebow could get into a game for 20 plays was broached by those reporters with Sparano. And very naturally, Sparano decided not to expand on Ryan's explanation. ........................................................ Sparano, who coached Tebow in the Senior Bowl, can see the improvement in his passing as well. “That has been eye-opening,” Sparano said. “I thought fundamentally Tim has gotten much better. You could see the amount of time he spent...

Do you have proof that you or someone you know has slept with Tim Tebow? If you do, you’re about to be a whole lot wealthier. Ashley Madison, an upstanding dating service that helps married people cheat on their spouses (Its motto: “Life is short. NFL quarteback Tim Tebow and NBA star Dwyane Wade took in the Yankees-Angels game Sunday night (April 15). They were not there together, but were sitting near each other and did stand up at one point to say hello. But when Tebow's face was flashed on the jumbotron he was met with a loud chorus of boos, despite wearing a Yankees cap. D-Wade was booed briefly as well, but the boos turned to cheers when he put on his Yankees hat. ESPN reports that Nick Swisher, outfielder/first baseman for the Yankees, was asked about Tebow's reception from the fans after...

The New York Jets quarterback will speak for 20 minutes during an outdoor worship service that could draw as many as 30,000 people for the Easter Service beginning at 10 a.m. “Obviously it's our Super Bowl," said Joe Champion, pastor at the Celebration Church. "Easter is the resurrection of Christ, which we celebrate in our faith. We feel like it's going to be a testimony to the community. We want it to be a family event." There will be no parking at the Celebration Church site at 1202 Rabbit Hill Drive. Instead, the church is renting 110 buses to pick...

The Prophet Jonah was sent to Nineveh. St. Paul was sent to Athens, Macedonia, Rome. And now Tim Tebow has been sent to New York City. There was a moment last week when it looked as if the trade shipping Tebow from the Denver Broncos to the New York Jets might somehow fall through - that Tebow might end up a Jacksonville Jaguar instead, with a guaranteed starting job, a heavily evangelical fan base, and none of the insanity involved in eclipsing Jeremy Lin as the most famous Christian athlete in Babylon-upon-the-Hudson. O ye of little faith. Did you think...

VIDEO AT THE LINK Forget a snack. It's time for a sandwich. The famous Carnegie Deli in Manhattan will introduce the Jetbow sandwich on Monday, in honor of new Jets backup quarterback, Tim Tebow. The meal will be about 3.5 pounds and contain corned beef, pastrami, roast beef, American cheese, lettuce and tomato on white bread, and will be introduced Monday to coincide with Tebow's press conference. "He's the poster boy for every parent and what they want their kids to be," owner Sandy Levine said. "Very religious, very clean-cut, an outstanding student, he does charity work. What more do...

Some of the nine ways: "3. Team chaplain Tebow's role as the Jets' unofficial team chaplain would blend nicely with his duties as custodian of the locker-room Swear Jar. The Jets made one of the most dramatic trades in franchise history Wednesday — twice. Gang Green swung a deal with the Broncos for polarizing quarterback Tim Tebow last night after the trade nearly fell through earlier in the day. The Jets sent their fourth- and fifth-round picks in next month’s draft to Denver in return for Tebow and the Broncos’ seventh-round pick. (Snip) Eventually the Jets and Broncos agreed to split the $5 million payment, according to ESPN. The deal got done just before 9 p.m., some eight hours after it originally was thought to be completed.

After word spread rapidly Wednesday that the New York Jets had acquired quarterback Tim Tebow from Denver for draft picks, the teams have encountered a hang-up in the language in Tebow's contract that could nullify the trade, a Broncos source tells ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Tebow has about $5 million worth of recapture language in his contract, meaning the Jets would have to pay back some money to Denver, and the Jets might be unwilling to do that. The trade, then, is not finalized.

At a Super Bowl dinner this year, I couldn't help but ask John Elway why he'd never done The Tebow, the one-knee mini-prayer popularized worldwide by his quarterback. Elway is fairly religious, so he thought about it and then said, "How about this? I'll Tebow when he wins us a championship." Add that to your list of Things You'll Never See. Right below "Lenny Dykstra, President of the United States." Tebow is trade meat this morning after Elway used a combination of stones, guile, risk, friendship and legend to land the biggest free-agent whale in NFL history: Peyton Manning. Manning,...

In recent days, comments putting Tim Tebow under friendly fire were released, with Broncos backup quarterback Brady Quinn, questioning Tebow's public displays of faith in an interview with Yahoo! Sports' own Michael Silver (and then swiftly apologizing for those very comments). So many have wondered why Tebow didn't speak up about the scathing commentary from a teammate. It turns out there's a good reason for that: He was preoccupied fulfilling the dream of a 9-year-old with a severe tumor disorder...
