  • Finally Got My IRS Refund Today

    Vanity
I have seen a few vanities like this over the past few months asking about IRS refund checks being late. We file in February and usually see something in about a month, until this year. The IRS "Where's My Refund" site has a note now saying that paper returns may take 6 months to process. I also found out to access that site, you have to log in to the IRS site first and create an account. That was a chore.
  • Why aren’t school districts giving taxpayers their money back?

In Naperville, Illinois, the school board announced it would distribute $10 million back to taxpayers this year. Yes. A tax refund. In a news release, Superintendent Dan Bridges told residents that he "understands the great burden many of our families have faced during the COVID-19 Pandemic and hopes that this reimbursement lessens that burden." The typical family will receive a refund of $200 to $500. Good for Naperville. The 10-month pandemic shutdown generated a savings of roughly $20 million, or about 6.5% out of a $300 million school budget. The Naperville Sun reported that the district's expenses for everything from...
  • Here's why your refund may not be as high as you expect under the new tax law

**SNIP** 2. You might not get as much money back, but that doesn't mean you'll pay more either. Accountants call this year's process easier for the average person. With the new tax law, everyone's filing on the same form. Most people's tax rate is less, too. But that's not all: Your refund check may be less may be less, a lot less, than last year. Instead of withholding as much throughout the year, the government gave it to the people to spend, which is something not everyone realizes. "They anticipated for the lower rates," said Tylor Katze of Bennett Tax....

I filed my tax return in early February, the old fashioned way, by mail. I've done this for several years running with no problem. I checked the status of the refund on the IRS.gov site, which indicated that my refund was to be direct deposited to my account on February 27. Well, that date came and went with no deposit to my account. I double-checked the routing and account numbers on my return, and they apparently were correct. Last week, I checked the IRS site again, and now it read that my bank had rejected the deposit so they were...

The IRS has been bled white, complained Commissioner John Koskinen. Budget cuts to the agency, he adds, have forced the IRS to eliminate almost all overtime, implement hiring freezes, and furlough nonessential operatives. It will also likely mean a reduction in taxpayer services like audits and, yes, even the processing of refund checks. And Koskinen wants the public to know that it’s all the GOP’s fault. “Everybody’s return will get processed,” the IRS commissioner told reporters on Thursday. “But people have gotten very used to being able to file their return and quickly get a refund. This year we...

With improvements in the economy and only a fraction of the stimulus money having been spent so far, most Americans -- 72 percent -- say returning the unused portion of the $787 billion dollar stimulus to taxpayers would do more to boost the economy than having the government spend it. Majorities of Democrats (59 percent), Republicans (87 percent) and independents (70 percent) think the money should be returned to taxpayers. Opinion Dynamics Corp. conducted the national telephone poll of 900 registered voters for FOX News from August 11 to August 12. The poll has a 3-point error margin. Rating the...

JEFFERSON CITY — House Republicans revolted yesterday against scores of proposed earmarked projects, demanding that their party instead use $1 billion of the state’s federal stimulus money for a refund to taxpayers. House Speaker Ron Richard, R-Joplin, said this morning that GOP members rejected a spending plan drafted by the House Budget Committee and insisted on a large taxpayer refund. The decision came yesterday during a closed caucus meeting. “Over half the caucus has said we overspent, acting like Washington D.C.,” Richard said at his weekly donut breakfast with Capitol reporters. “”We said, ‘Fine, we’ll come up with another plan.’”

Early tax filers scramble for refunds; most will pay down debt. BY JENNIFER WATERS CHICAGO (MarketWatch) -- Cynthia Jeanguenat, a professional tax preparer in Virginia Beach, Va., said she was inundated with clients' tax forms in the second week of February. What jumped out, however, was the large number of the usual clients who had filed earlier than in years past. "People are creatures of habit and tend to come in at the same time every year," said Jeanguenat, who is an enrolled agent at Horizons Unlimited.         The Ticket Refunds...Maybe reading THIS will help you to understand how TAX refunds work. Five thousand people go to a baseball game, but the game was rained out, therefore a refund was due. The team was about to mail out the refunds when a group of congressional Liberals called and complained that they should really be sending out the ticket refunds based on the  Democrat National Committee's  interpretation of 'fairness'. Originally, of course, the refunds were to be paid based on the price each person had paid for the tickets.  Unfortunately that meant most of the refund money would be going...

WARSAW, Va. - Crystal Foster's father advised her to spend the $500,000 income tax refund she got two years ago. When the government came looking for its money, the Fosters said it was their rightful reparations, since their ancestors were slaves. Though there is no federal reparations program, Foster had spent the money in eight days, buying a $40,000 Mercedes Benz, paying off her student loans and helping her brother pay for his first year at Virginia Tech. Foster's father, Robert Lee Foster, prepared her tax forms and was convicted along with his daughter of trying to defraud the government....

The emerging field of Qualculus originated in the mid 80s from data models created to mimic biochemical reactions in a computer program. So what does that have to do with politics? Qualculus also deals with mass changes in a system such as millions of enzymes attacking sugars in metabolism. These mathematical models can also deal with similar mass changes in the economy where millions of people are buying and selling goods and services. One very important factor in the economic models is called Delta V. V is a symbol used to denote VIM, or Very Important Money. VIM is the...
