The incident occurred just after 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Dispatch confirmed three EMS units have been sent to the scene. Witnesses at a nearby business reported one person covered with blood. HACKENSACK (WABC) -- Authorities are investigating a deadly police-involved shooting in New Jersey Thursday in which a 24-year-old allegedly armed with a knife was fatally shot by officers. The incident occurred on Temple Avenue in Hackensack around 1:30 p.m. Authorities say three officers were dispatched to 10 Temple Avenue for a probation welfare check on 24-year-old Elvin Diaz. The Longview Police Department placed three officers on leave after a 17-year-old girl was shot and killed in the lobby of the station last week, the Marshall News Messenger reported. According to officials, Kristiana Coignard entered the Texas police station on Thursday evening brandishing a weapon. Police spokeswoman Kristie Brian said Coignard used a phone in the lobby to call police dispatch and asked to see an officer. The parents of a San Jose woman killed by police after she allegedly threatened to kill her family are demanding answers and a full investigation by the district attorney's office. The man had called police saying that he had just shot and killed dog that he said had was attacking him. The dispatcher asked the man to return to his home and let police take over once they arrived, Acevedo said. When the officer arrived, the man had the semiautomatic pistol tucked into his waistband, the chief said. The man was told to give up the gun, but instead drew it on the officer, Acevedo said. A gunman who witnesses say was wearing camouflage and a white plastic mask opened fire in a shopping mall near Portland, Ore., in a rampage that left three dead, including the shooter, and multiple wounded, police said.
