Big Business does some things that are utterly necessary in modern society. They build airplanes and cars. They run airlines, phone companies, credit card companies and banks. But there is not a person among us, including employees of big businesses, that has not withered with frustration from confronting these businesses with a problem and then receiving little or no results. Even though big businesses get the most attention, the vast majority of people in the U.S. work for small businesses. Small businesses by nature are more reactive and responsive to their customers. They are closer to the customer and more...

Iraq is falling AGAIN! A new swarm of Taliban and insurgents are now marching onto Baghdad. They are killing at random just to show their might. How disappointing that the Iraqi armed forces cannot defend their own country after the over 15 billion American dollars spent training and defending them over the last decade. In some ways it is understandable, the Iraqis who would fight back are outnumbered in may cases. There is much desertion by Iraqi troops; losing up to 300 troops a month for the last year. Obama wants to get out and stay out of Middle East...

An Oklahoma company has designed a bullet-resistant blanket that’s designed to protect children and teachers in the event of a school shooting. The Bodyguard Blanket, made by ProTecht, is a bulletproof 5/16-inch pad that the company says is made from the same materials used by the U.S. military. Steve Walker, a podiatrist who conceptualized the blanket, told The Oklahoman that the idea came to him after two tragedies: the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, and the tornadoes in Oklahoma. He said the idea was to “stop that blunt-force trauma when that rubble is falling down on a child.” The...

Still trying to figure out what President Barack Obama’s foreign policy doctrine is? Search no more. The White House has got you covered. “For those pining for an Obama Doctrine victory for the president, here it is: ‘Don’t Do Stupid Sh-t,’” Politico’s Mike Allen wrote in his daily tip sheet, the Politico Playbook, Saturday. “Playbook rarely prints a four-letter word — our nephews are loyal readers. But we are, in this case, because that is the precise phrase President Obama and his aides are using in their off-the-record chats with journalists.” Allen went on to point out all the places...

Creating the infrastructure needed to push the crypto-currency to fruition If bitcoin transactions were less cumbersome, the digital currency could potentially become the premier international currency of the world. But as it stands, using cash or credit for everyday purchases is much more practical. Xapo, the bitcoin wallet and storage service, seeks to reshape this paradigm using a debit card that taps directly into a user’s bitcoin storage and is accepted anywhere in the world where MasterCard is. The Xapo debit card works similarly to a bank issued debit card, performing transactions in real time; when a user purchases a...

You can call Ronan Farrow “Faux Blue Eyes.” The son of Mia Farrow and possibly “Ol’ Blue Eyes” Frank Sinatra wears colored contact lenses to make his eyes a brighter blue, sources confirmed to Page Six. The MSNBC host landed his show soon after Mia claimed that Sinatra, and not Woody Allen, could be Ronan’s father, sparking a debate about whether he shares the legendary singer’s piercing eyes. But Ronan was spotted fueling the speculation by wearing contacts to make his eyes appear Sinatra blue during the Time 100 Gala Tuesday at Jazz at Lincoln Center. “You could see the...

A California woman was struck and killed Wednesday by a freight train while wearing headphones as she jogged along busy tracks near a popular hiking trail. Hayes, who had recently moved from Oregon to the small town just north of...

Don't let their sweet smiles fool you; this is a fearsome foursome of trained killers. This cheery selfie shows the first group of women to complete the Marine Corps' infantry combat training, a grueling 59-day course that preps Marines for war. Fifteen women began the training at Camp Lejeune, N.C., on Sept. 24, but only Harlee (Rambo) Bradford, who snapped the pic, and her grinning crew made it through, CNN reported.

A ruling by a Ukrainian court to suspend broadcasts of four Russian TV channels in Ukraine is an attack against human rights and media freedom, a senior Russian diplomat said on Tuesday. The District Administrative Court in Kiev ruled to suspend broadcasts of Russia's Rossiya 24, Channel One, RTR Planeta, and NTV-World in Ukraine pending hearings on a permanent ban. "Undoubtedly, this should be viewed only as an infringement on democratic freedoms and as a violation of Ukraine's international obligations. Certainly, millions of [Russian-speaking] residents of this country have the right to watch [Russian] TV and have access to [other]...

So we have reached the aporia of the Right’s main argument against President Obama, wherein their arguments are deconstructing themselves via their own rhetoric undermining their claims. Republicans call the President a dictator and say his boot is on their necks, he is stomping on the Constitution, he is an “imperial” president. And yet all of them remain free to say these things in public, on TV. There isn’t even any backlash to speak of. Leading this charge is the still bitter Sarah Palin, whose behavior post 2008 loss makes John McCain’s look magnanimous and mature. Palin posited that after...
