Putin Could Easily Ride to IRAQ's Rescue & Instantly Become a Heroic Figure.

Iraq is falling AGAIN! A new swarm of Taliban and insurgents are now marching onto Baghdad. They are killing at random just to show their might. How disappointing that the Iraqi armed forces cannot defend their own country after the over 15 billion American dollars spent training and defending them over the last decade. In some ways it is understandable, the Iraqis who would fight back are outnumbered in may cases. There is much desertion by Iraqi troops; losing up to 300 troops a month for the last year.

Obama wants to get out and stay out of Middle East conflicts at almost any cost. Obama is so determined to 'free himself' of the issue that he has returned the Taliban Five to the insurgents. There are rumors that up to five million in cash was paid to secure Bergdahl's release. Obama thinks it is possible to stop warring by making unilateral decisions, as seen with his advance announced "Out By X Date". This is not a decision one side can make. The Taliban remains at war with the western world. Nothing has changed, except their numbers that have grown. The Taliban now have brand new functioning military vehicles and equipment that was left abandoned on the battlefield in recent months. Weaponry left like fallen fruit on the hot Iraqi sands.

Putin could organize forces to push the Taliban back out of Iraq. There is a surge in nationalism in Russia right now, a longing for the days of being part of the Soviet Empire with its broad reach. Putin has shown the ability to invade and engage the Ukraine. He has shown the judgement not to push too quickly, let the passage of time promote the presumed inevitability of Russia's new expansion. If Iraq's president cannot convince Obama to send help in weaponry or in financing, don't be surprised if he asks other Superpowers that be. Such possible sources of assistance would be Russia or China. Should either country openly intervene in this matter, Iraq would be indebted to them. I can easily see China considering such a gesture of rescue for Iraq, with the obvious price tag being the Iraqi oil fields. So while Obama may be feeling the warm inner glow of gloating that George W. Bush's war in Iraq seems to have resulted in an everlasting quagmire, there are many Iraqi citizens who do not intend to bow down in submission to that black flag of the Taliban without a fight to the death. To prevent their own extinction, these Iraqis will seize onto the nearest life preserver, no matter where on the globe they come from. Of course, as an American who grew up during the Cold War, and who remembers the Bay of Pigs being talked about, I do not want any New Soviet Empire to take place, nor do I want a Red China to build an core of influence in that region, but if I can see the opportunities to rearrange the axis of power, I know they have also seen it.

I’m not knowledgeable at all about fighting wars in the mideast, but the Russians had a bad experience in Afghanistan.

Not true. Obama has repeatedly shown a willingness to interfere anywhere he can to bring militant Islamists to power. Libya, Egypt, Syria, releasing Taliban war criminals.

If Putin is smart, he will shift focus immediately and send a rescue operation to Iraq. He instantly becomes the hero of the secularist majority in Iraq and replaces the vacuum which BO left.

There is nothing so urgent in the Ukraine which can't be dealt with later and shoring up his southern flank will do nothing but help him. Not to mention that he would be in-line to get a good share of the oil revenues.

Possible scenarios, but what about Iran just coming over the border to help Maliki?

“Putin could organize forces to push the Taliban back out of Iraq.”

Yeh if he had the money. Right now Putey is breaking into the egg money just to intimidate the Ukraine.

I think the whole civilized world should be helping Iraq right now. ISIS is as bad as it comes.

"Obama wants to get out and stay out of Middle East conflicts at almost any cost."

He only wants to stay out of the way of the Caliphate being created. Every time the Assad government gets the upper hand in Syria King Barry sends them aid and floats the idea of bombing them like he did Libya.

Putin isn’t that dumb—why step into a mess like that. What would he gain? Watch as Iran steps in and takes the whole pile—and beats back the terrorists (it hires) before it marches on Saudi Arabia. A New Persian Empire is in the making. Let em fight—we were fools to stay so long? We do not need the oil now—let the Mullahs have the whole thing and cut off as many heads as they like.

Bluto: Hey! What's all this laying around stuff? Why are you all still laying around here for?
Stork: What the hell are we supposed to do, ya moron? We're all expelled. There's nothing to fight for anymore.
D-Day: [to Bluto] Let it go. War's over, man. Wormer dropped the big one.
Bluto: What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
Otter: [to Boon] Germans?
Boon: Forget it, he's rolling.
Bluto: And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough...
[thinks hard of something to say]
Bluto: The tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go!
[Bluto runs out, alone; then returns]

And the US is a bit overstretched with Obama's armed and trained nation-busters busting apart a nation we "liberated" to do all that much about it.
