A knife-wielding man who injured eight people at a mall in central Minnesota Saturday evening asked at least one victim whether they were Muslim and referenced Allah during the assault, authorities said Wednesday. St. Cloud Police Chief William Blair Anderson said the suspect, whom he did not identify, was shot and killed by an off-duty police officer from another jurisdiction. All but one of the eight victims had been treated and released from a local hospital and all were expected to survive their injuries. Police officers have responded to Crossroads Mall in St. Cloud for multiple stabbing victims. The police department says one suspect was taken into custody at Macy's. Investigators responded to the mall around 8:20 p.m. Saturday. The number of possible victims is not known at this time.

The woman arrested Thursday in connection with the death of her live-in boyfriend Wednesday had been arrested at least twice before in domestic incidents involving the same man, records obtained Friday by the Las Vegas Review-Journal show. One of those arrests came in February, and records show the woman, Lah’tijera Howard, 26, admitted at the time to stabbing her boyfriend, Darryl White, 34. Howard was still undergoing domestic violence counseling as a condition of her sentence when White was killed this week.

A 57-year-old employee was said to be badly injured after they were stabbed in the torso.
