Multiple sources told Channel 2 Sports Director Zach Klein earlier in the day Monday that Hanson was in a coma after being moved to Atlanta’s Piedmont Hospital late Monday morning due to catastrophic organ failure. Wow! The Arkansas - Ole Miss game was one of the best I have watched in a long time. Epic football, back and forth the whole game ties at the end of the 1st quarter, tied at half, tied at the end of the 3rd quarter, and tied at the end of the game, 45 to 45, when Arkansas came back and scored. Ole Miss scored a TD in OT and then Arkansas had 4th and 25 from the 40. A pass, well short and the receiver literally simply threw the ball backwards as he was going down. It bounced...

SOUTH BEND — A lawsuit filed Friday accuses a University of Notre Dame employee of pressuring a student into a sexual relationship with her daughter, as well as arranging sexual encounters with her daughter and football and basketball players. The suit, filed in St. Joseph County Circuit Court against the university and the female employee, claims the male student was a victim of sexual harassment and racial discrimination. The employee and her daughter are not named in the suit, but it says the daughter is "a student at a nearby school" and also works at Notre Dame.

As the sports business has evolved, the cost of making bad decisions has become more costly. When owners, general managers and athletic directors realize they made the wrong choice, the cost of keeping that coach or player could be more detrimental than suffering the financial pain of cutting him loose.

In what may be the most troubling legal development yet for the Daily Fantasy Sports industry, The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday that the office of Preet Bharara, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, has launched a probe into whether certain aspects of DFS violate federal law. Bharara is a truly feared figure in the gaming industry. On Friday, Apr. 15, 2011, in what became known as “Black Friday” to gamblers, Bharara unsealed indictments against three major operators of online poker websites for assorted criminal violations. The indictments included charges for conspiracy to violate the...

According to Bloomberg, the increasingly left-wing ESPN sports network has been forced to cut 350 jobs due directly to subscriber losses, which is also known as cord cutting. Early estimates were between 200 and 300 job cuts after parent company Disney ordered ESPN to cut $100 million from its 2016 budget. In just over a year, as customers cut their cable cords and move to streaming television services like Netflix, as of August, ESPN had lost a whopping 3.2 million subscribers.

Nevada regulators have ordered daily fantasy sports sites like DraftKings and FanDuel to shut down, saying they can't operate in the state without a gambling license. The decision comes amid growing backlash by investigators and regulators over the sites, which have grown in popularity in the past year. The sites insist they are skill-based games and not chance-based wagers, and are therefore not subject to gambling regulations.

It’s beginning to seem like Marty McFly may have been onto something. The Cubs sure are an interesting team to watch. Nothing demonstrates that point more effectively than mad-hatter manager Joe Maddon calling for two suicide squeezes in the second inning on Saturday, en route to a 6-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Now, if you’re like me, you wonder why this isn’t always the play with a runner on third and fewer than two outs. I’ve almost never seen it played correctly by opposing defenses, and isn’t it more reliable than a fly ball to the outfield? But...

Fox Sports 1’s marketing of Saturday’s Mexico-United States Concacaf playoff game fired up American fans in an unintended way Friday with a promotional commercial using comments made by Donald J. Trump on the presidential campaign trail as a way to lead cheers for the United States national team.(VIDEO-AND-TWEET-AT-LINK)The video was promoted as a response to an earlier TV Azteca ad that used Trump’s words as a way to promote Mexico in the game. But Fox’s choice of Trump to promote the United States team seemed, at best, questionable. He has built his campaign for president around anti-immigration positions, especially those...

All in favor of more separation between sports and state, raise your beer koozies and stop millions of dollars from being wasted on bad coaches and old stadiums. I love sports and so do you. But itÂ’s not right that you and I donÂ’t have a strong say in how our politicians play ball with our money when it comes to renovating Stone Age stadiums or retiring awful athletic directors. IÂ’m calling foul on plays like a Texas judgeÂ’s plot to renovate the Astrodome despite strong voter opposition. And IÂ’m hitting the buzzer on schemes like asking taxpayers to subsidize...

DALLAS - A Texas high school football coach directed two players to strike a referee during a game because of missed calls that had hurt the team, the players claimed Friday during a national broadcast. During an appearance on ABC’s “Good Morning, America,” Michael Moreno and Victor Rojas also repeated earlier claims that the ref had used racial slurs. Moreno said he regrets hitting Robert Watts and wants to apologize. Rojas said he was just doing what he was told. The two were suspended from the Jay High School football team in San Antonio in the aftermath of the game...

A House Republican chairman said on Thursday that he is likely to call a hearing on the new fantasy sports sites that critics say are skirting gambling laws. "My sense is that we will do a hearing," said Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.), the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. "There’s a lot of things on our front burner right now, but I think this is an issue that we ought to take a look at.”

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said Wednesday that he hopes Donald Trump can win the presidency, hours before Trump was set to participate in the second Republican debate. The Super Bowl MVP, whose four-game suspension for using deflated footballs was recently overturned by a judge, grinned broadly as he talked about his golf partner. "I hope so," he said. "It would be great. There would be a putting green on the White House lawn, I'm sure of that." Brady's locker sported a "Make America Great Again" red hat sent to him by Trump. "It was...
