Adrián González went on social media earlier this month and challenged his Los Angeles Dodgers teammate Kike Hernández to add an accent mark to the "a" on Hernández's jersey. And a tiny corner of the Latino digital world cheered. Some observers concluded that Latino ballplayers were finally demanding respect from their clubs and Major League Baseball by speaking out for their heritage.

The letter shows a growing gap within the medical field on what to do about the Games. On Thursday, Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said, "There is no public health reason to cancel or delay the Olympics." The CDC's current recommendation is that pregnant women should not travel to areas where the virus is spreading and that men with the virus who have pregnant partners should use condoms when having sex for the duration of the pregnancy. "We're working closely with the USOC and Brazilian health authorities, and will update our guidance...

Charles Barkley is walking entertainment and the brilliant Inside the NBA would not be the same without him and his off-the-cuff opinions (which is a great thing in sports talk, not so much with national policy). But he remains the leader of the annoying #getoffmylawn crew of older players who don’t like today’s game. Barkley was on the Bickley and Marotta on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM last week and went off again on the state of the game. “People think us old guys hate when we talk about it. It has nothing to do with the Warriors’ greatness, LeBron’s greatness....

Model is one of only a few left for sale McLaren is selling a single model of its F1, the fastest supercar ever built. Twenty-three years later, the car still holds the record (it reached a speed of 242.8 mph). Only 64 F1 cars were made in all, and only six in the year this particular model was produced, so it’s that much more exclusive. Never sold, McLaren held on to this specific one in its vault until now. There’s no official list price, but other models have gone for $12 million and $13 million. Interested? Mario Guzman lived to race. For the last two decades Guzman ran in marathons, half marathons, and competed in multiple ironman triathlons. “It was a passion. It wasn’t a hobby, it was a passion,” Guzman said. That all changed more than three years ago when Guzman went to the doctor after injuring his ankle during a run. “We were very puzzled about his symptoms,” said Ludmila Parada, Mario’s wife. “My husband has a fever, he feels very ill and the foot that was completely unremarkable the day before was all swollen and red and he couldn’t put weight on it.”...

A new congressional report has found that the NFL sought to improperly influence a major government study on connections between football and brain disease, according to documents obtained by ESPN's "Outside The Lines." (Update: the NFL has rejected the conclusions of the report.) The congressional research report indicates the NFL had given the National Institutes of Health a $30 million unrestricted gift in 2012, but later sought to pull $16 million in funding from that gift away from one researcher and reroute it to researchers working on the league's own brain injury committee. When the NIH declined to redirect the...

Professional rock climber scales 460ft-tall building with the suction power of cordless vacuum cleaners By Vicky Kapur Published Tuesday, May 24, 2016 In a cool marketing stunt, LG hired professional rock climber Sierra Blair-Coyle to scale a 140-metre (about 460 feet) high-rise building using the suction power of its CordZero canister vacuum cleaners. LG says it teamed up with Blair-Coyle to create a unique climbing device using the firm’s vacuum cleaner, and the project to scale the skyscraper nicely showed off some of the vacuum cleaner’s features (besides the great suction power) – lightweight and long-lasting lithium-ion battery. LG CordZero...

Arizona – -(Ammoland.com)- Open carry is unrestricted at the NRA annual meeting in Louisville, Ky, this year. But with presidential candidate Donald Trump speaking at the Leadership Forum, the Secret Service set up a system to stop the entrance of people with guns and knives. Doug Ritter of Knife Rights realized that the carry of pocket knives is common with people across the United States, and that it is a major inconvenience to trudge a half mile back to a parked car to deposit a pocket knife after walking through a quarter mile line to hear the speakers.

MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow, an admitted gun control advocate, shocked her fellow liberals this week when she told CBS News’ Rita Braver that she thinks “shooting is fun.” Braver accompanied Maddow to a gun range, where she watched Maddow shoot a few rounds. Maddow: This is a beautiful gun. Braver: So maybe you wouldn’t expect the woman wielding the Colt .45 pistol or the AR-15 rifle to be unabashedly left-leaning Rachel Maddow. Maddow: Like, I’m a real liberal, even on, like, gun safety and gun control issues. That said, I think that shooting is fun, and I think that shooting...

According to ESPN's Jayson Stark, Major League Baseball is on the verge of making two rules changes that could only be described as ground-breaking. In a report filed on Friday, Stark says that the league's competition committee reportedly agreed to alter the strike zone and eliminate the four-pitch intentional walk during their meetings with owners this week. Those two changes could be implemented as early as the 2017 season. The strike zone is currently defined as the volume of space above home plate and between the batter's knees and the midpoint of their torso. Of course, if you asked most...
