Thomas Muller has vowed that Germany will ‘give the world something to write home about’ when England visit Berlin.

I’m not going to use that tired chestnut, “What price safety?” The Rohrbaugh R9 is expensive; it’s also the smallest, most concealable autoloader, chambered in 9X19 para, available on the market today. It has all the features I wanted in a concealed carry pistol: hammer fired, double action only, European style heel mounted magazine catch, grip panels* and no safety. My first excursion to the range after it arrived was an absolute disaster – I had treated it as if it were a service weapon. It is not. It’s so small, tolerances are so tight and heat dissipation is so...

On Friday night, Northern Iowa’s Paul Jesperson made a shot that nobody ever makes to send his team to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Two days after the Panthers sunk that miracle buzzer-beater from half-court, Northern Iowa got sunk by the greatest-slash-most-horrifying comeback in the history of March Madness —and probably in the history of college basketball. The only consolation for the Panthers: The game was on truTV, so a total of eight people probably saw it happen. With 44.3 seconds to go in the second half, Northern Iowa’s Jeremy Morgan made two free throws to give the...

Bayern Munich have apologised after a graphic the club posted on Twitter was interpreted by some as being a reference to the Auschwitz concentration camp. Ahead of Wednesday night's Champions League clash against Juventus at the Allianz Arena, Bayern posted a photo featuring goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, a train track leading to their home ground and the words 'Qui e la fine', which translates into 'Here is the end'.

Mr McLean, 26, went to school in Edinburgh and learned to ski at Hillend. Snowsport Scotland said he was "a man of great enthusiasm and infectious energy".

The U.S. Women’s National Team will face Germany in the third and final match of the 2016 SheBelieves Cup, which will serve as a de facto championship game as both teams won their first two matches of the tournament. The USA needs to win to take the tournament title while Germany just needs a tie, as both teams are tied on points and goal difference, but Germany is ahead on the next tie-breaker, goals scored, having found the net three times over two games to the USA’s two. Germany’s Sara Dabritz is suspended for the match against the USA after...

The Barrett .50 caliber rifle is a powerful gun. Widely used in the military, its rounds can "penetrate light armor, down helicopters, destroy commercial aircraft, and blast through rail cars," according to a report from the Violence Policy Center, a gun safety group. The Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence describes .50 caliber rifles like the Barrett as "among the most destructive weapons legally available to civilians in the United States." And as of Wednesday, the Barrett .50 caliber is now the official state rifle of Tennessee, joining an illustrious roster of other state symbols including the raccoon (state wild...

Tulia Jimenez-Vergara was at an orphanage holding a baby found in the garbage when Miguel first ran into her. He was only two years old and full of joy and energy, shouting "Look at me!" as he dashed around the room with ease -- even though he had no legs.Tulia was a young unmarried grad student who had returned to Columbia to visit her dying father. An uncle asked her to help bring food to the sisters of Hogar Luz y Vida, a Catholic orphanage. Run by Sister Valeriana Garcia, they only take the most difficult-to-place children. Tulia wanted...

Recently we’re reminded of the jealousy and hatred some Black athletes feel toward White players who excel in a sport Blacks think they own. The stream of racist bile from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar directed toward the Dallas Mavericks’ future Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki is a handy example of this. When asked about Nowitzki’s shot, Jabbar launched into a stupid and unsupportable racist attack on Nowitzki’s accomplishments as an NBA player. “You asked about Dirk Nowitzki. Dirk Nowitzki’s shot is very hard to block, but I don’t think that he was able to have a dominant career because he couldn’t do...

The Denial About Super Bowl 50 Having a Gay Agenda is Laughable! It all started with this simple statement. “How about this: God is Love. I believe we should have had a cross with the same words "Believe in Love" without the rainbow. Got a problem with that?†That’s what I wrote in response to an article written in the Huffington Post the day after the Super Bowl, entitled, “To Those Bothered By The 'Gay Agenda' At Super Bowl 50.†If you’re not in the know, a huge rainbow flag with the words, “Believe in Love†was prominently featured at...

In the AFC Championship, the Denver Broncos defense clobbered Tom Brady, sacking him four times, hitting him 20 times, and forcing him into two interceptions.

Sometimes you wear the shirt. And sometimes the shirt wears you. The shirt has been wearing Donald Trump for probably his entire life. Why? Because Trump seems to always bet on the laundry. Trump came in second in the Iowa caucuses. He underperformed his lead in the polls by something like six points. Ted Cruz overachieved by a couple points with the swing big enough to turn Trump into the runner up. How did this happen? Trump has been dominating the polls and the national conversation since the beginning of summer 2015. Basically, it goes something like this: Trump bet...

Apparently, the Oklahoma City Thunder of the NBA has a player named Cam Payne. In this political season, that made me laugh. What an appropriate name!

DENVER — Stephen Gostkowski kept pausing in the middle of his sentences, trying to hold it together and not cry at his locker. "I just feel terrible," said Gostkowski, the normally automatic New England Patriots kicker whose missed extra point ended up being a huge difference in the Patriots' 20-18 AFC championship game loss to the Denver Broncos. "These guys work a lot, all day, put their bodies and lives on the line and for us to come out here and lose by a point and me to miss that kick, it's a nightmare scenario." Tom Brady spoke in a...

The biggest NFL mystery this side of Nebraska has been solved. Peyton Manning’s line-of-scrimmage hollerings are a thing of legend. They serve to instruct his offense while confusing the defense — and, consequently, the fans who can hear the screaming, can hear a particular city being shouted again and again: Omaha.

Not too cold today. It is up to 35F here at 8500 ft elevation west of Denver. There may be some rain/snow toward the end of the game. I wonder if Patriots have been practicing at elevation to acclimate---probably. If the Broncos keep dropping the ball they don't have a chance. If they play well it could go either way. Got beer in the fridge.

Longtime NFL wide receiver Antwaan Randle El, whose trick-play touchdown pass famously helped the Pittsburgh Steelers to a victory in Super Bowl XL, said he regrets having ever played football. Randle El, 36, told the Pittburgh Post-Gazette in story published Tuesday that he struggles to walk down the stairs and has contended with memory loss since announcing his retirement in 2012. “If I could go back, I wouldn’t,†the former Indiana University quarterback said of the sport that brought him roughly $40m in career earnings. “I would play baseball. I got drafted by the Cubs in the 14th round, but...
