  • SJW's flee, good riddance

Interesting discussion on Slashdot. Apparently the bosses in charge at a project management company, Basecamp, decided that the never ending political “discussion” (aka ranting, proselytizing, whining, virtue signaling, harassment, etc.) on company time and across company assets (e.g., eMails, etc.) were too much. So, it is forbidden. Read the letter to employees. Surprisingly, the reaction at Slashdot (https://politics.slashdot.org/story/21/04/30/2114254/basecamp-sees-mass-employee-exodus-after-ceo-bans-political-discussions ) is almost 100% supportive. Many such topics bring out the SJWarriors, who seem to have been the problem at Basecamp. But, not this time. Instead, the condemnation of the SJW’s is in quite severe terms. Seems that there is a lot...

Stardate 20021005.2128 (On Screen): As I think many of my readers know, I used to work for Qualcomm designing cell phones. Qualcomm is the company which invented CDMA, and made it practical, and made it into a market success, and it now dominates the American market, where Verizon and Sprint both use it. There are two other nationwide cellular systems: AT&T currently uses IS-136 TDMA, which is obsolete and has no upgrade path. Cingular uses GSM, a more sophisticated form of TDMA from Europe. And right now I'm basking in the evil glow of a major case of schadenfreude. The...

I'm going to take a stab at empowering you. §  We're in a long term fight for human freedom. Long term means you may have to influence people now who can just possibly help us, or at least you, ten or twenty years down the road. Pick people who are running for minor or local offices, and need a little help, whether it's contributions or getting out the vote or going door to door. You don't have to spend a fortune or put in fifty hours a week on top of your day job to be remembered as one of...

This is really odd, and the weird thing about it is that it ran on something called "idle.slashdot.org". I'm not exactly certain what "idle.slashdot.org" really is - in theory, it's supposed to be a dumping ground for junk stories - although I have often wondered whether it might actually be some sort of an ongoing steganographic experiment, kinda like that old Google mystery billboard campaign. In general, you can't even see the stories at "idle": http://slashdot.org Instead, you have to find them at the raw search engine: http://slashdot.org/search.pl So most people don't even know that "idle" exists. And I don't...

Slashdot (a geek site) has a new political section with a story about Senator Alleges White House Wrote Allawi's Speech. Near the top is a post stating: Letters from Iraq (Score:5, Interesting) by asciiwhite on Thursday September 30, @11:26PM (#10401265) Letter from a US soldier Why We Cannot Win by Al Lorentz Before I begin, let me state that I am a soldier currently deployed in Iraq, I am not an armchair quarterback.
