Shepard Smith, a frequent critic of President Donald Trump who was accused of sexual assault by a man who claims he awoke to find Smith in the same bed with him with his tongue down his throat, is resigning from Fox News amid a growing feud between him and Tucker Carlson. Even as others in the media – including liberal MSNBC host Chris Hayes – decried President Obama for telling a Paris-based climate-change audience mass shootings only happen in America, one Fox News talking head came out in support of that White House mantra, saying only national television, post-San Bernardino massacre: this is unique to our country. Sheppard Smith said, of the mass shooting that left 14 dead and 17 injured, Obama was quite right in calling for gun control.

In an interview on Studio B Monday, Shepard Smith challenged Rick Santorum on his position on gay marriage. Santorum said that whether homosexuals should be allowed to marry is really a question of values, saying, “The question is whether we should change the laws of this country to reflect a different value structure. What we’re talking about here are different values. We have to Judeo-Christian values that are based on Biblical truth and truth that can be acclaimed and resolved through reason. The Obama administration swears we are not technically at war in Libya. Fox News Channel has signed star news anchor Shepard Smith to a new multi-year contract extension. Smith briefly discussed the agreement on “The View” this morning, saying “Yesterday I just signed a new three year deal with [FNC],” to applause from the audience. Deadline.com’s Nellie Andreeva first reported the signing this morning, which the network is expected to formally announce this afternoon. Smith, who has been with FNC since it launched in 1996, signed a three year deal worth between $7 and $8 million a year back in 2007.

Fox News' Shepard Smith has been particularly outspoken and fired up of late about the crisis in the Gulf. The "Studio B" and "FOX Report" anchor has made a series of impassioned comments in the past few weeks about BP, the oil spill, and the leak's effect on the Gulf Coast states, one of which his home state of Mississippi. A regular target has been BP CEO Tony Hayward, to whom he said last month in a scathing commentary, "At least act like you care."
