Sheppard Smith

Posted on 01/31/2005 7:18:19 AM PST by 7thson

Did anyone watch Sheppard Smith on FNC this past Saturday? He gave an excellent tour of an underground bunker in Iraq - complete with decom showers and instructions in German! He asked the question - why would a country with no WMD's have need of decom showers?

Yes, I saw this report and he very casually mentioned that the instructions were in German. At which point my eyebrows went up.

There are a LOT of toxic compounds involved in baby milk factories! Didn't you know that?

I didn't get to watch as much as I would have liked, but Shep did a very good job in what I did watch.

Why that facility indeed? And I'd be willing to bet that they could tell that equipment wasn't ten or fifteen years old, too.

I saw that. I think Shep needs to get out into the field more often. He and Rick Leventhal make a great pair.

The instructions are in German because a German firm built the bunker.

The obvious answer is fear that such weapons would be used on them.
Thats the answer you'd get anyway. I think, like you, that its because they knew and had the weapons there....

And the Germans knew....

Shep made some scathing comments about how that place cost around a billion dollars to build that could have been used to feed the children...

I still believe that there were WMDs in Iraq and that President Bush will, once again, proven to be right.

I hope this happens soon because it is so enjoyable to watch the left being reduced to stammering, stuttering, grasp-at-anything idiots.

The reason for the decom shower is: Did you ever smell someone who jsut spent two weeks on a camel?

"He and Rick Leventhal make a great pair."

Rick be da man! I found a live feed on the internet of him during the Iraq war. I couldn't get enough.

The Germans were very heavily involved in Bunker construction and most European countries were complicit in Saddam's efforts to maintain and improve his military capabilities.

Chemical and biological protection equipment was found all over Iraq in a ready for use state during the active war phase. I recall seeing front line depots full of chemical protective suits that, at the time, were taken as a warning of the potential for imminent chemical attack.

All of this begs the question - Why would you have such equipment if you didn't have the associated weaponry that would give rise to such a need? A good question and one that, IMO, has not yet been satisfactorily answered.

Steve Harrigan was Fox news' guy in Iraq.
He's back in NY and was on Fox morning news last week.
He said that the election would be a 'blood bath'.
It pissed me off. Then I found out he used to be with CNN.
I guess old Steve was wrong. Mr. Harrigan... STFU!

Never been a Geraldo fan but he impressed me this weekend. He really went off on the terrorists at the body of a iraqi woman killed on her way to vote.

Finally, maybe the press will start covering Iraq in a responsible manner.

The amazing part to me was that that huge underground complex had been built after the close of the Gulf War in 1991 ... and our intelligence agencies had failed to pick up on it at all. It was only found after our 2003 invasion, and then only because our troops came across it accidentally.

Another very serious intelligence failure on our part and one directly attributable to the Clinton Administration.

I agree. The weapons will be found. I think that some are buried in the desert, and some are in Syria. All during the leadup to the war, I was thinking that Saddam was hiding the weapons, and that was the purpose of the delaying tactic on the part of the UN...
