The Daily Caller News Foundation analyzed 195 cases where gun owners used their firearms to successfully defend themselves from crooks and home invaders, and found an impressive number of elderly people used guns to defend their lives and property. In light of President Barack Obama's executive action on gun control Tuesday, TheDCNF looked at incidents in a period between July 2014 and July 2015. From our analysis, we've compiled five of the most incredible times people 60 and older protected themselves by pulling out a gun. 1. "It was self-defense" A 71-year-old Texas man defended his wife from a robber...

Michael Bontaites  MPD A line that has been bandied about for at least 40 years is: God did not make men and women equal.  Colonel Colt did.  That seems particularly appropriate for this case out of New Hampshire, where a diminutive woman who is old enough to qualify for Social Insecurity used her handgun to protect herself.  Situational awareness and the willingness to act were a combination that spelled bad news for the attacker, who was less than half her age and nearly twice her size. From manchesterinklink.com: The woman, who is described as 4-foot-11 inches tall and 105...

resident Obama's senior adviser Valerie Jarrett said the administration waited until now to announce executive actions on gun control because they were hoping Congress would pass something better first. Jarrett told MSNBC this morning that if Republicans have a problem with the actions, which include expanding the definition of gun dealers to therefore expand required background checks, "they should all spend time talking to the victims of gun violence." Pressed on why it took so long, she replied, "Well, our first priority was to get Congress to pass an act that would have been more comprehensive." The National Rifle Association...

Three men break into a home in Trotwood, Ohio.  They are all armed.  It is before 6 am, just three days after Christmas, on 28 December, 2015.  One of the men is armed with a Tec-9 pistol.  The other two hold what appear to be conventional semi-auto pistols.  They bypass two sleeping children to find the mother.  The surveillance video shows the three following the mother after they pistol whipped her in the laundry room.  Link to video The man directly behind her has the  Tec-9.  Not shown, he presumably holds her at gunpoint while the other two attempt...
  • Virginia Republicans To Consider Stripping Gov. McAuliffe Of Protective Detail

Virginia GOP'ers returned fire over the state Democrat Attorney General Mark Herring's move to halt recognition of concealed carry permits from 25 different states. Our General Assembly has already identified who can and cannot conceal handguns in Virginia, and we cannot have that decision undermined by recognizing permits from other states with more permissive standards, Herring said when he made the announcement last week. Republican state legislators could strip Virginia Democrat Governor Terry McAuliffe of his protective detail. Virginia Sen. Bill Carrico told The Herald Courier last Tuesday he plans to propose a budget amendment during the State Senate's January...

On January 1, California residents will have to accustom themselves to a number of new laws that will be implemented in the state. These are some the laws that will likely have the most profound effect: SB 172: High school seniors will receive their diploma whether or not they pass or even take an exit exam; the law also applies retroactively to students who have graduated since 2004; ... SB 707: Bans concealed firearms from college campuses and K-12 school grounds
  • “All are afraid:” With Refugees Flooding In, Germans Arming Themselves Anyway They Can

With migrants flooding in by the thousands, (up to one million!) Germans are preparing to defend themselves any way they can, but without a Second Amendment, they're finding it difficult. All across the country – and in a country with some of the strictest gun control on the continent – Germans are buying up non-lethal self-defense weapons, like pepper spray, gas pistols, flare guns and animal repellants, the Gatestone Institute is reporting. German officials insist the recent interest in self-defense has nothing to do with the onslaught of refugees from the Middle East or the spike in violent crime recently....
  • Germans Scramble To Buy Weapons Amid Nationwide Spike In Migrant-Driven Crime

The scramble to acquire weapons comes amid an indisputable nationwide spike in migrant-driven crime, including rapes of German women and girls on a shocking scale, as well as physical assaults, stabbings, home invasions, robberies and burglaries -- in cities and towns throughout the country. German authorities, however, are going to great lengths to argue that the German citizenry's sudden interest in self-defense has nothing whatsoever to do with mass migration into the country, despite ample evidence to the contrary. The spike in violent crimes committed by migrants has been corroborated by a leaked confidential police report, which reveals that...

A man who attempted to rob another man early Saturday morning was shot and killed by the victim, who was an off-duty Baltimore City police officer. Anne Arundel County police said the incident occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Homewood Road in Linthicum Heights, Maryland. The off-duty police officer was approached by the man, Edel Cato Moreland, 32, who produced what appeared to be a igun and said he was going to rob the officer. Investigators said the officer, an 18-year veteran assigned to the special operations section of the Baltimore City Police Department, pulled out...
  • Most Now Oppose an Assault Weapons Ban; Doubts About Stopping a Lone Wolf Run High (POLL)

A majority of Americans oppose banning assault weapons for the first time in more than 20 years of ABC News/Washington Post polls, with the public expressing vast doubt that the authorities can prevent “lone wolf” terrorist attacks and a substantial sense that armed citizens can help. Just 45 percent in this national survey favor an assault weapons ban, down 11 percentage points from an ABC/Post poll in 2013 and down from a peak of 80 percent in 1994. Fifty-three percent oppose such a ban, the most on record. See PDF with full results here.

I have previously written about the Northern Arizona University 'School Shooting' and that it may have been a legitimate case of defense of self and others.    It was clear that the 'school shooter' had been attacked, had been pursued, had articulated a fear for his life, had cooperated with the police, and that the people that he shot all belonged to the same fraternity.   In that article, I hoped that toxicology tests had been done for everyone involved. Blood should have been drawn from Jones and the others involved to determine blood alcohol levels or the presence of...

A Texas police chief who warns President Barack Obama in a social media video that trying to disarm Americans would "cause a revolution in this country" is the latest law enforcement official to urge citizens to arm themselves in the wake of mass shootings. Randy Kennedy, longtime chief in the small East Texas town of Hughes Springs, about 120 miles east of Dallas, says in the video posted this week on his personal Facebook page that the Second Amendment was established to protect people from criminals and "terrorists and radical ideology." "It's also there to protect us against a government...

There is not much the government can do about the sort of terrorist threat that President Obama described in his speech on Sunday. It will always be difficult to stop self-radicalized jihadists, operating under no one's instructions, from carrying out attacks on soft targets too scattered and numerous to secure. The only viable alternative, self-help, is one that Obama seems ideologically incapable of considering. His proposals for new restrictions on firearms move in the opposite direction, based on the assumption that the problem is too many guns in too many hands. Gun control supporters generally dismiss the notion that armed...
  • Stop Terrorists from Killing Americans, Not Americans from Owning Guns

Another terrorist attack, another refusal by President Obama to tell the truth. Instead of admitting that Islamic terrorists had staged another murderous assault on innocent people, he turned the victims into a political prop. Instead of explaining how he intended to stop terrorists from killing Americans, he launched another campaign to stop Americans from owning guns. As Liberty University President Jerry Falwell, Jr., pointed out, America's best defense against violence is law-abiding folks arming themselves. The tragedy of San Bernardino did not happen because good people owned guns. Yet the effect of gun control is to ensure that only bad...
  • Gun Control Group Calls For Obama To Declare “State of Emergency,” Ban Guns

The National Gun Victims Action Council (NGVAC) is calling on President Barack Obama to declare a “state of emergency” over fictional events, and then use that fictitious excuse to scrap the Constitution and impose his will under martial law. Gun control supporters really are apparently just this crazy (hat tip: AWR Hawkins): Americans are in the midst of a gun violence epidemic. The National Emergencies Act gives the president the power and responsibility to declare a state of emergency when the government lacks the procedures and capacity to address an unchecked natural or man-made public health epidemic. How much more...

One man is dead after a shooting Wednesday in Aiken. Coroner Tim Carlton said Frank Frazier Jr., 23, was fatally shot at 1pm, Wednesday on Willis Hill Road in Aiken. According to witnesses, a couple was purchasing a car from Frazier that was posted in a Craigslist ad. It is then alleged Fraizer and an acquaintance of his each pulled gun on the couple in an attempt to rob the couple. The woman in response pulled her gun and shot Frazier and the other man fled from the scene. The Aiken County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the matter.

People like Senator David Leyonhjelm are using the tragedy of the Paris attacks to further their pro-gun agenda, twisting facts to create a narrative that is misleading and dangerous. On Tuesday, in response to a tweet that read: “Aust’s tough gun laws have better insulated us against a Paris-style terror attack, Keenan said ...” Leyonhjelm tweeted: — David Leyonhjelm (@DavidLeyonhjelm) November 24, 2015 Sure helped a lot in Paris. More than a week after the terrorist attacks in Paris, many Americans are thinking about personal safety. The attacks prompted yet another jump in gun sales nationwide. Gun shows in southwest Alabama are usually busy, and this weekend at the fairgrounds is no exception. Mark Beasley has been very busy in the days since the Paris terror attacks. "Sales have gone up at least 50% in the last five days," said Beasley. He runs Quality Pawn in Huntsville. Timothy Dilcher just a few tables watches more sales as well. "It puts a scare in an individual, it takes something like...
