A majority of Americans oppose banning assault weapons for the first time in more than 20 years of ABC News/Washington Post polls, with the public expressing vast doubt that the authorities can prevent “lone wolf†terrorist attacks and a substantial sense that armed citizens can help.
Just 45 percent in this national survey favor an assault weapons ban, down 11 percentage points from an ABC/Post poll in 2013 and down from a peak of 80 percent in 1994. Fifty-three percent oppose such a ban, the most on record.

And to think, back in 1934, the government wanted to tax handguns just like machine guns. Long barreled Rifles were considered a true home defense weapons and not controlled.
Then in the anti handgun years of the 1970s, anti-gunners found the SCOTUS miller decision considered short barreled shotguns to NOT be militia weapons, so the disarmament crowd decided handguns were also not militia weapons, but RIFLES were blessed as true Second Amendment protected weapons.
Throughout the 1970s handguns were derided and rifles blessed in TV shows, that is up until about 1984 when rifles were suddenly considered a “target of opportunity” to enact a ban on anything that shoots!
Obama has taught Americans the price of being defenseless against aggressors in any form....not what they intended. They wanted a scared public to turn to them for their safety not to themselves but Americans are not liking the America Obama is forcing on them.

The US govt could not stop the Tsarnev Brothers after they were GIVEN INFORMATION ABOUT THE TWO BY MOSCOW.
The same govt missed the SB terrorists even after they made allegiances to ISIS and had known connections to terror.
Why should anyone have any confidence in them?
