I thought of something similar to this years ago. I also came up with an LED set that would give advance warning of slowing and stopping, including a display of the truck’s speed-so folks could see that he was actually slowing and at what rate.

After fixing a 101 set of LED’s on the door of the trailer, I ran a multiplex cable up through the 9 pin pigtail, and into the cab. Then I connected them to the data link, which will work on any vehicle equipped with a J1587/J1708 diagnostic data link, and a direct connection to the brake light switch with an electrically actuated rheostat.

It worked pretty good, right from the jump. Only one big problem. My buddy got a ticket for unauthorized lighting equipment and disallowed color of light bulbs.

Seems the FMSCA regs only allow lights to be:

Front: White and amber
Sides: Red and amber
Rear: Red, amber and white.

And the DOT loves to write tickets.

I think a better approach for this company would be to have wireless cameras and cars to to have the ability to display those on their dash monitors that are currently used for GPS and vehicle information.

The thing that puzzles me about the Shroud is the negative image - why or how could a medieval artist know about negative images ...

Because it is the world's first photograph ca 1500. Read "Turin Shroud" by Picknett and Clive.

The image is "hinged", i.e. no top of the head shown so it's no wrap-around shroud. A few other minor items like the head is proportionally too small (head added on in another exposure) and the back image is larger than the front by about two inches. Still a marvel, but not a religious one.

every time someone thinks that they'll kill off Christianity....it somehow takes hold and continues to grow and survive. Prosecutions, shunning, ridicule, poverty, war, death, torture, robbery, and on and on.... but what started with a carpenter in Judea's teachings have shaped our world.

Christianity is laughed at as a religion of myth worshippers, hypocrites and worse. But still it goes on with the simple premise that we believe Jesus Christ died to somehow make us right with the Lord, he rose from the dead and that we were put on this earth by God in order to try to live our lives in harmony with his teachings...... and that God knowing what weak stuff we are made of has found it in his grace to forgive our sins if we only truly repent and give ourselves up to him.

I sure hope that God is a forgiving and patient master. I'm going to need all the help I can get.

The shroud of Turin would have been provided by Nicodemus and as a rich man he would have used his best. Maybe it wasn’t made as a burial shroud at all? This prove zip. Even if the Shroud was proven 100% wrong-—it says nothing about the life and eternal message of Jesus Christ. Right on the nose.. this is a lame assertion that is not at all logical.

The better use would be to compare the carbon dating of both shrouds which would have some scientific meaning. That is assuming that Carbon dating hadn't been used to establish that this new shroud came from the 0CE era.

One! Just one? 1 shroud out of approximately 1,000 tombs and they're ready to claim that the shroud of Turin is not Jesus's because one.... just "1" single shroud that exists is different? One shroud? Like everybody had to use identical shrouds. Oh please!

Well, come to think of it, the science we get today is, make it up as you go along and see how many people you can fool with it type science.

Really? Let's see. Twill plaids have been found in tombs of Celts in China from 2000 B.C. Meanwhile, the Holy Land was the trading capital of the world in Jesus' time, as it had generally been for a millennium or two, thanks to the Phoenicians. No, I'm sure the primitive, ignorant, unlettered Jews (who wrote the Scriptures) couldn't weave worth a darn, and furthermore, had no access to trade, and therefore had no way of wrapping their wealthy dead in anything nicer than burlap or cheesecloth. If they tell me they found a man as rich as Joseph of Aramathea buried in a tuna-can, maybe I'll pay attention.

The problem with academic Marxists (such as the National Geographic Society) is that they measure the value of their research by how much more worldly and cynical it shows them to be than their embarrassing grandparents. The scientific method, starting with asking some dumb-obvious questions, seems to take a back seat to this ambition. I don't know how they can get this adolescent drool published.

This story reminds me of other ignorant things that have been said, especially among some Shroud researchers, because they didn't think to bring in a textile expert when researching the origin of a textile product. It was a textile expert—a woman, and not a Ph.D.—who finally pointed out, after the "medieval" carbon date came out some years ago, that the sample had been taken from an outer part of the Shroud that plainly had been grafted onto the central part later. They hadn't tested the part of the Shroud that had the image on it. Duh.

This will disappear right after the first lawsuit blaming an accident on the image not showing an oncoming car.

A wealthy man made his tomb available for Jesus. Is it not reasonable that his burial shroud was of good quality?

I have no opinion on the shroud of Turin, my best guess is that it is not that of Jesus but this is hardly evidence.

The Shroud of Turin discussion has always been an argument without a controversy. People may believe it 'is or isn't.' I confess to fantasizing about how fun it would be to prove that it is. Of course, no one could ever prove that.

Whether it is or isn't has zip to do with the central facts of the life of Jesus. The 'I am the way the truth and the life' part and the 'God-man/man-God' part and the resurrection part still remain matters of faith as is the 'greatest commandment' part. Quite simply, there isn't a single translated word of any part of the New Testament that is altered a single degree by the Shroud of Turin being an 'is' or an 'isn't.'

Faith is both a destination and a gift. I struggle toward it day after day. Some days I think I'm there. Then the next day I think I'm a million miles away. The Shroud of Turin can't change that.

At first I thought they meant the truck was made of some transparent material like heavy duty plastic and you would be able to see what it was carrying.

No minds, no facts, either. It's a stretch to assume an ancient weave found in one of the most transitory and cosmopolitan places and times in the Roman era just has to breathlessly "add to evidence" one way or another about the "controversial" Shroud of Turin.

I know zero Christians who have founded their faith on the Shroud. But I do know this: Wherever God in Christ has manifested His will and Word in this world you can count on the devil immediately staking out a Gypsy camp all over the top of it and opening up a spiritual whorehouse. "Controversy" to this world is smoke telling of a fire somewhere.

What beef do people on this forum have with the Shroud of Turin? This is about the 15th time this same story has been posted.

I'm not Catholic and have no bias one way or the other, as far as the authenticity of the Shroud Of Turin. It'd be fantastic if it were what it's long been purported to be, but I'm not all that concerned.

That said, nobody seems to be noticing the offensive nature of what is being said and done, here. They're in Gehenna for crying out loud, in the Field Of Blood, Aceldama, the potter's field bought to bury criminals and such, bought with the 30 pieces of silver from Judas Iscariot.

The man's body was wracked with disease and buried in a potter's field. Just how is the quality of the cloth he was bound with, not a burial shroud mind you, in any way related to the perhaps legendary burial shroud of Jesus Christ?

These people, supposed objective scientists, show their hand again and again, and apparently aren't even aware that they're doing it. Not so bright.

I do not think this proves anything one way or the other.

I doubt the shroud of turin ever touched the Savior's body. But the best evidence for the resurrection of our Lord is not a shroud or a garden tomb or anything else that has been found. The best evidence is that which has not been found, the body of Jesus. If there had been no resurrection, the Romans or the Jewish leaders could have simply retrieved his body, dragged it through the streets of Jerusalem and the tiny fledgling sect would have died.

The next-best evidence is what happened: apostles who had seen their master crucified became ignited with a zeal to make known the wonderful news that Jesus had risen from the dead.

Either the physical, bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ happened, or it didn't. If it didn't, then his disciples would have remained broken, dejected, disappointed at his death. If it did happen, then what happened would have happened... they would have done what they did, made known to the world the glorious truth that Jesus conquered the grave.

Placing faith in a cloth will ultimately lead to disappointment. Placing faith in the Risen Lord will never disappoint.

A single example is a poor basis on which to spin conclusions about burial textiles in ancient Judea. Unlike a leper, a first quality burial cloth would likely have used for Jesus due to the devotion of his followers and the wealth of Joseph of Arimathea.

I'm with you on the Shroud of Turin. As for the new one, it is obviously NOT Jewish - and most of us know that once we think. "The newfound shroud was something of a patchwork of simply woven linen and wool textiles". As I recall from Leviticus 19:19 in Hebrew/Aramaic, mixing linen and wool was specifically forbidden for clothing, and the observant Jews of that period would not have considered its use on a dead body as an allowable loophole. Turin? I'd like information that is probably never going to be available. The new shroud? Not relevant to Turin.

In the original Star Wars, Lucas made the hovercraft illusion by putting mirrors on the lower sides of the car. I read about a similar concept from a high school kid in Round Rock, Texas about 10 years ago. In his drawings, there were four cameras, one on each side, and a projection screen on the other.

yep, back then they MUST have used IDENTICAL shrouds for EVERYONE. Even if buried in a borrowed (from a wealthy man) tomb.
