  • Breaking Rubio allies drop lawsuit keeping Kasich from Pennsylvania presidential primary ballot

    03/16/2016 2:13:12 PM PDT · by Sybeck1 · 27 replies
Despite the John Kasich campaign admitting they did not provide enough signatures to give Kasich legal access to the Pennsylvania primary ballot, the state law only keeps the candidate off the ballot if it is legally challenged. Previously, team Rubio in Pennsylvania filed such a challenge and Kasich was legally kept off ballot. Today the Rubio allies withdrew their petition (legal challenge). As a consequence Ohio Governor John Kasich will be allowed on the PA ballot despite not having met the signature threshold for placement.

With Marco Rubio out of the race for the White House, two of his top backers in Texas are throwing their support to Ted Cruz. State Reps. James Frank of Wichita Falls and Jason Isaac of Dripping Springs, both Republicans, said Wednesday afternoon they plan to help out in whatever way possible to help elect Cruz, Texas' junior U.S. senator. "I’m definitely planning on backing Sen. Cruz at this point," Frank said. "I think honestly both Rubio and Cruz are very similar on the vast majority of issues."

Miami — “I loved watching Michael Jordan play basketball, because he could do things with the basketball that were not teachable,” Whit Ayres, a highly regarded Republican pollster, said in between sips of coffee in a downtown D.C. hotel conference room. “Marco Rubio is the Michael Jordan of American politics.” It was March 31, 2015, just 13 days before Rubio, long considered the GOP’s brightest star, would launch his campaign at the Freedom Tower here in his hometown. Ayres, Rubio’s polling guru, had written a book with detailed, data-driven prescriptions for Republicans to take back the White House in 2016....

There are only two factions left now in the Republican party. Trump and anti-Trump. Gov. John Kasich is still breathing, but let’s face it, his only role is to keep Trump from getting to the magic 1,237 number of delegates on the first ballot in Cleveland in July. The GOP establishment — the GOPe — officially went out of business last night. Beware the Ides of March indeed. In Miami, yesterday was Goodbye Rubio Tuesday. Little Marco blamed most of the chaos in the Republican party on “the political establishment” — you know, the same fat cats who gave his...

Marco Rubio did his part, although he should have done it two weeks ago when it might have given Ted Cruz a chance to take Florida’s 99 winner-take-all delegates. What’s done is done, though, and Rubio’s campaign is now as officially done as it already was practically done. The Catch 22 if you’re a Cruz supporter, of course (or simply a #NeverTrump bitter-ender), is that you needed John Kasich to win Ohio last night to deny Trump that state’s 66 delegates, but you also need Kasich to now do what he won’t do precisely because he won: Get out as...

Tonight a heckler interrupted Marco Rubio’s speech in Florida where he suspended his campaign.

Clinton bested Sanders in all the March 15 primaries except for Missouri, and Cruz is now Trump's only competition for the Republican nomination. With the exception of Gov. John Kasich taking his home state of Ohio, Donald Trump won or is projected to win all the March 15 Republican primaries. Trump came in second in Ohio. However, the race is very close in Missouri, with Cruz only a quarter point behind Trump with 62 percent of the precincts reporting. Although Sen. Marco Rubio came in second in his home state of Florida, he saw the writing on the wall and suspended...

HOUSTON, Texas -- Presidential candidate Ted Cruz today released the following statement in response to the announcement that Marco Rubio has suspended his campaign for President: "Marco Rubio is a friend and a colleague who ran an optimistic campaign focused on the future of our party, conservative principles, and uplifting the American people. The Republican primary was stronger because of the ideas he brought forth. Marco's story embodies the promise of our great nation. I know he will continue to be a champion for limitless opportunity in America, and I wish Marco, Jeanette, and their four kids the very best."

“I want to congratulate Donald Trump on a big victory in Florida.” With those words, Marco Rubio opened his speech to supporters in Miami Tuesday night after learning Trump won the GOP primary in Rubio’s hometown state. “While it is not God’s plan that I be President in 2016 or maybe ever and while today while today my campaign is suspended, the fact that I’ve even come this far is event of how special America truly is and all the reason more while we must do all that we can to ensure that this nation remains a special place. Republican presidential candidate Sen. Marco Rubio suffered a crushing defeat Tuesday at the hands of Donald Trump in his home state of Florida, increasing pressure for him to drop out of the race. Businessman Donald Trump won the primary, according to projections. The results were consistent with polling ahead of the primary that put Trump in the lead. But Rubio had nonetheless insisted he could and would win Florida, which he has represented in the Senate since 2011 and in the state legislature since 2000. "Tomorrow is the day when we're going to shock the country, and we're going to...

If Marco Rubio’s campaign flames out in Florida tonight, as polls suggest, it will be delicious revenge for the Tea Partiers who have been waiting years to embarrass the senator in his home state. “We’re going to have a sweet taste in our mouths tomorrow when little Marco gets embarrassed by those he betrayed. He betrayed all of Florida, but mostly he betrayed people like me who worked hard to get him elected,” said Dan Ray, a founding member of Tea Party group in The Villages, a large retirement community in Florida, where Rubio campaigned earlier this week. When Rubio...

Sen. Ted Cruz said Monday he could see inviting presidential campaign opponents Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Ohio Gov. John Kasich into his cabinet in Washington -- and he also said he could see circumstances where he would not support front-runner Donald Trump as the nominee. The conservative Texan has been repeatedly asked about whether he would support Trump if the mogul ends up winning the primary. Despite a the presence of the "Never Trump" movement within the Republican Party, candidates have been quick to say they will support the Republican nominee. But speaking with reporters in Illinois on Monday,...

One Florida political operative said Mr. Rubio had a "snowball's chance in hell," of getting Mr. Bush's backing after his "ultimate betrayal" of entering the 2016 race. Mr. Rubio also probably didn’t have it in him to beg Mr. Bush, given he’d outlasted the former governor in the presidential race, the operative said. . . "The governor decided he wasn't going to endorse anyone. He made up his mind that was the case and that's what he’s done," said Al Cardenas

Leading Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s name was left off Florida primary ballots according to reports relayed by Fox News’ Jennifer Eckhart on Twitter who said the local Fox affiliate has received “dozens of complaints.” Eckhart wrote the irregularities are in “Jupiter County” which does not exist. She probably meant the town of Jupiter or Palm Beach County where Jupiter is located. Palm Beach County is where Trump’s Florida base Mar-a-Lago is located.
