Carr: It's Time for GOP to Pick its Poison
Boston Herald ^ | 3/16/16 | Howie Carr

Posted on 03/16/2016 8:32:46 AM PDT by raccoonradio

There are only two factions left now in the Republican party.

Trump and anti-Trump.

Gov. John Kasich is still breathing, but let’s face it, his only role is to keep Trump from getting to the magic 1,237 number of delegates on the first ballot in Cleveland in July.

The GOP establishment — the GOPe — officially went out of business last night. Beware the Ides of March indeed. In Miami, yesterday was Goodbye Rubio Tuesday.

Little Marco blamed most of the chaos in the Republican party on “the political establishment” — you know, the same fat cats who gave his super PAC $40 million after they gave Jeb Bush’s $100 million, much of which he used to destroy Little Marco.

It’s now going to be up to either Trump or anti-Trump (that would be Ted Cruz) to prevent the ever-scarier prospect of Hillary Clinton, with her mysterious cough, her unspeakable husband and her astonishing corruption, ascending to the presidency.

Hillary Clinton’s America — Victims “R” Us. And oh by the way, no American lives were lost in Libya.

The stakes are high, but now the beaten Republican donor class, the Washington cartel, has to finally pick its poison. Does it want to go with Trump, for whom everything is negotiable, or Ted Cruz, for whom it isn’t?

The GOPe has to be thinking to themselves, “If The Donald could give money to Hillary, surely we can do business with him.” On the other hand, Cruz used to be a George W. Bush coat-holder; he even wrote an op-ed piece on the greatness of John Roberts, who saved Obamacare not once, but twice.

Neither Trump nor Cruz is Jeb Bush, obviously, or Little Marco, or even Chris Christie. When Karl Rove said jump to those RINOs, they yelped “How high?” But now it’s any port in a storm.

Is there any way they could fall in behind … Kasich? A guy whose super PAC just took $200,000 from George Soros. A hack who voted for NAFTA, and chuckles nervously about it when called out on Fox. John Kasich, a guy who promises an EBT card to every Third World criminal who can make it across the Rio Grande.

If you’re Charlie Baker or Kelly Ayotte, it’s not exactly a field of dreams. Nightmares is more like it.

Last night, Massachusetts national committeeman Ron Kaufman opened his house to all the members of the GOP state committee, Republicans and tax-fattened Baker hacks alike. Kaufman, another Bush hand, wants a smooth operation to make sure that the right people — Baker’s payroll patriots — end up as delegates to Cleveland … just in case there’s a second ballot.

There hasn’t been a “brokered” Republican convention in 68 years. But dreams die hard. It’s not going to work, but as long as the stupid fat cats are willing to give the “consultants” more millions, they’re willing to squander it, after taking their 15 percent off the top of course.

But the reality is, it’s Trump or anti-Trump, and don’t bet against Trump.

It’s not about Trump, the person. It’s about his voters. That is what the GOPe can’t/won’t comprehend. And his voters aren’t looking for a friend; they are looking for someone who can lift this sinking ship of a country high enough out of the water to keep them from drowning.

It’s time for Cruz to exit the race, and negotiate with Trump to be Trump’s VP. Let’s get Trump to 1237. Otherwise, the GOP will cause Clinton to be elected.

If the Repubs can manage to get through this without self-destructing...

They will win in November. If its Cruz, they win. If its Trump, they win big. They just have to resist the urge to commit political suicide by throwing away the victory that they have been handed. GOP doesn’t deserve it, frankly, but we do.

And deservedly so!

This was printed in The Boston Herald?

Did I miss something? When did The Boston Herald allow this sort of heresy on their pages?

How often is Howie Carr allowed to frame subjects in this taboo manner?

This sort of thing might end up with Massachusetts voting for the Republican nominee./S

The media hasn’t even begun to stump for Hillary. A vote for Trump, is a vote for Hillary. Are you seriously ready for another President Clinton?

I thought I stood a good chance of getting hammered for the comment I’m posting below over at AT and Breitbart, but surprisingly, the response has been pretty good so far.

My comments usually evolve so here’s where we are now.

GOPe hear me on this! I’m voting for Trump for President, as the R nominee or as a write in if I have to. If I have to do a write in vote, I’ll do so, but then I’m going to vote a straight Dem ticket after that.

If you insist on ruining our last chance to save this country to save your place at the trough, then let’s get this party started.

You may disagree with me in my methods, but I submit that the GOPe and every elected Republican official must be put on notice that them screwing Donald Trump out of the nomination will cost them and the party dearly.

They may not believe that the American people have any leverage in this, but if they’re threatened with career ending losses of every other Republican up for reelection they might take us seriously.

Nice shirt Howie, you’re starting to look like Whitey Bulger. Howie has become irrelevant since he’s become a huge Trumpswab. He has a 4 hr infomercial for Trump every afternoon. It used to be considered can’t miss radio. Not so much anymore.

Let me take this opportunity to congratulate all you Trump fans. Your guy had a good night. Lots better than Super Tuesday. He did a service to mankind knocking out Little Marco.

Now it is essentially a two man race. Kasich cannot win anywhere else. In fact, if Rubio and Kasich had not been on the ballot the night would have been far different, with Cruz easily winning NC, MO, and even IL. But if frogs has wings.....

It comes down to a two way between Trump and Cruz and many of the states are proportional. Trump still needs to win just over 50% of the delegates. How does this shake out. Either Trump or Cruz will have slightly more delegates than the other going into the convention. Then there has to be some kind of horse swapping, either between Trump and Cruz or the minor little candidates.

I still don’t think it will happen but a Trump/Cruz is possible, or even a Trump or Cruz and Kasich. Kasich is a worm but worms have been selected as veep before. However way it shakes out, it is sure to be interesting.

BTW, Now is the time when maybe we can all quit calling each other names like “traitor” or “fag” or “a....” We are going to reach a point where we are going to need every conservative patriot to beat Hillary.

I support Newt Gingrich or our new Vice President because of his understanding of the congress and his ability to get things done. I do not support cruz as Vice President because he blamed the Chicago communist attack on free speech on Trump. I could not believe what I heard.
Here is his quote from breitbart.com. Go read the entire cruz attack blaming Trump and then tell me cruz can possibly be hired by Trump for any governmental position.

“I think a campaign bears responsibility for creating an environment, when the candidate urges supporters to engage in physical violence–to punch people in the face. The predictable consequence of that is that it escalates and today is unlikely to be the last such instance,” Cruz said in a sorrowful tone.” http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/03/11/ted-cruz-says-violence-at-trumps-canceled-chicago-rally-starts-at-the-top/

With that, cruz fades from relevance. GO NEWT!!

Somebody better tell Kasich this. He's like a trick who thinks the hooker really really likes him.

I disagree. There are many of us for whom Trump is/was not the first choice, but we'll vote for him if he is the eventual nominee.

This revolution of sorts can be traced back at least a decade. The first real salvo came in 2010 when the GOP took back 60+ Congressional seats. Obamacare, porkulus, and the Wall St. bailouts were the catalyst for that tsunami. 2014 was another wake up call.

But the GOP hasn't gotten the message. It's been business as usual since then. They are reaping what was sown.
