Iraq’s parliament has passed a law forbidding the import, production or selling of alcoholic beverages in a surprise move that angered many in the country’s Christian community who rely on the business. The law, passed late Saturday night, imposes a fine of up to 25 million Iraqi dinars, or $21,000, for anyone violating the ban. But it’s unclear how strictly the law would be enforced, and it could be struck down by the supreme court. Islam forbids the consumption of alcohol, but it has always been available in Iraq’s larger cities, mainly from shops run by Christians. Those shops are...

A Swiss court has ruled against a company that fired a longtime employee after she began wearing the Muslim headscarf, marking one of the first such rulings in Switzerland, media reported Sunday. A regional court in Bern ruled last month that a 29-year-old Serbian woman was fired without just cause from a dry cleaning business, and ordered the company to dish out back-pay and damages to her, the Le Matin Dimanche weekly reported. The woman, identified only as Abida, was fired in January 2015 from a job she had held for six years, after she began wearing the Muslim headscarf,...

There is more human carnage in the first five minutes of Hacksaw Ridge than in the entirety of most any other movie you will see this year. The film’s opening sequence is a bloody ballet of bullets and flame, all played out in slow motion so that not a single spurt of blood or fleck of charred flesh is passed over by the camera. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is safe to say that Mel Gibson has in no way mellowed during his 10-year-long self-inflicted sabbatical from the director’s chair. And apparently, if the standing ovation given by the hundreds...

She recently confirmed she was expecting her first child. And Janet Jackson covered up her changing shape in Islamic-style dress while walking hand-in-hand with her husband Wissam Al Mana. The 50-year-old All For You hitmaker wore the hooded number and comfortable boots as she enjoyed her stroll while looking adoringly at her spouse.

Full title - "Is Facebook listening to your Confession? In an era of mobile microphones and apps that listen, both priest and penitent should be prudent about what they carry into the confessional" “All phones have a microphone, and Facebook and many other phone apps require access to the microphone and camera,” said Fr. George Hajj, parish priest at St. Anthony of Padua Maronite Church in the United States. “Therefore we don’t know what technology, and in whose interest it is in, to spy and overhear what is being said in the confessional.” For Father Andrew Pinsent, Research Director at...

We have all had the opportunity to see various life-saving medical procedures and operations on TV or in a classroom setting. Maybe people that are in favor of Late Term Abortion should watch one too. What's the harm in that?

This morning at approximately 8:30 on the Mark Davis morning show in DFW, a speaker named Robison called the show and gave his reasons for Christians to put aside the nit picking and vote for Trump. It should be on the Mark Davis website or Facebook --- he said he would post it ASAP. I do not have the skills to put this together professionally. This needs to be shared far and wide among our Christian communities so that our friends don't get hung up on a few salty words and forget the big picture.

Tens of thousands of people have marched in Paris to call for the repeal of a law allowing gay marriage, six months before France’s next presidential election. The protesters ended up at Trocadéro Plaza, near the Eiffel Tower. Police estimated the crowd at 24,000, while organizers gave a figure of 200,000. They were also protesting Sunday against the use of assisted reproduction techniques and surrogate mothers to help same-sex couples have babies. …

Students in South Africa are embroiled in a “Fees Must Fall” protest, aiming to lower tuition fees and “decolonize” the nation’s schools. These protests are offshoots of the “Rhodes Must Fall” movement which aimed to get names of colonialists off school buildings. At a meeting with the University of Cape Town science faculty, one of these “fallists” took the movement further demanding science too must fall.

The mother of the conjoined twins who were successfully separated on Friday shared an emotional and touching Facebook post to thank the “real heroes” of the remarkable journey. There’s no way we would have made it without Him. Our ministers were always on call to give us advice or to lift our spirits and recenter us on what’s really important. The brethren of the Living Church of God and believers all over the world have lifted our family up in prayer and been pillars of strength from day one. These are the real heroes.

At about 5 a.m. each day — and maybe a little later on weekends — an email from the Rev. Bill Shillady arrives in Hillary Clinton’s inbox. […] It’s no secret that Clinton is a lifelong Methodist. But Shillady feels that many people don’t really know how much her faith “is a daily thing.” He says this is because Clinton’s faith is of a personal variety, one she’s not very comfortable with broadcasting. …

Will they lay Hillary Clinton in a Crystal Coffin? When Chairman Mao died on the 9th of September 1976 of Parkinson’s Disease, the death of the Party Leader was not announced right away. The government officials instead gave a warning to the nation that an announcement of extreme importance will be made later in the day at 4pm. Just before 4pm, citizens all across China gathered around transistor radios to hear the announcement, that Mao Zedong has died of a disease which they had no awareness he had. In fact, Mao was mostly in seclusion during his last five years,...

Interesting observation here..... Suppose for a moment that a guy needing to do business in Russia were to hit upon the idea of learning the Russian language the fastest possible way i.e. marry a Russian woman and start thumbing through the Russian mail-order bride sites... One of the largest of such is www.aprettywoman.com. One amusing thing he would notice is that a lot of the entries in those pages, in the box which specifies the religion of the man the lady is looking for, say "Not Muslim", i.e. anything in the world including Rastafari and Voodoo, but not Islam. A...

It is getting late, yet I made up my mind to sit down at the laptop to write these couple of sentences. Today I have read what Ms. Bakuła said: “Without abortion, cripples would be born into this world.” I have also read the following commentary: “Rather than fight about abortion, we should think about what to do so that so many cripples would not be born. I partly know that answer to how to dramatically limit this fact”; I won’t even mention some private emails here. I am disabled. I am a person who, in many people’s opinion, should...

ON THE HIGH NEGATIVES OF BOTH TRUMP AND HILLARY If worse comes to worse...whether Hillary or Trump is elected....The House of Representatives and the senate can examine both people at the time of the Electoral counts...decide neither one of them is fit for office and simply appoint a different president and vice president....it can happen theoretically as the means to do so is laid out in the constitution...You'd see a fusion choice from both parties as a compromise! I think that's what needs to happen here. The congress and the country needs to say " a pox on both Trump...

Psalm 91:1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. In the Old Testament, there was a place where God met with His people. In Exodus 25:22, God said, “And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the Testimony...” This place was above the mercy seat of the ark of the covenant, under the wings of the two cherubim. The psalmist calls it “the secret place of the...

The City Council, which last month condemned a boycott of Israel, moved Tuesday to declare its support for local Muslims. The non-binding proposal, which was voted out of committee and is likely to be approved by the full council Thursday, declares support for Muslim communities, “affirms the religious pluralism of the United States, and urges all residents to stand together for peace and understanding.”
