Friends of mine had their first child 2 and a half weeks ago, a little girl, Sawyer Jane. In the first week she began to have difficulty eating and sleeping. They took her to the Doctor and could find nothing wrong. They took her into the hospital and all they know is that she has some sort of infection. All the tests keep coming back negative so they have not been able to pin it down. This morning I received this message from her mother: Sawyer update: We are being transferred to UVA nicu. Sawyer's white blood cell count almost...

I would like to request your Prayers and thoughts for myself, and my family for the very unexpected passing of my wife. Many of you have seen me refer to her as Mrs. Rikkir, but her name was Patsy. She was 55, and mother to one daughter, and Mee Maw to three grandsons. She was a KY farm girl, who took a stupid NC city boy, and, 29 years ago, pulled him from a self destructive path, and instead gave him a path of love and responsibility. She was universally loved by almost all who met her. I have fielded...

It is clear who the new ruling political class in Britain is. First the Cameron government banned foreign counter-jihadists from entering the country. Now they are silencing domestic voices of dissent. British authorities seem determined to stifle legitimate debate about their immigration policies and stance toward the jihad threat, and to keep their country on the path to chaos and civil war.

An atheist professor said Tuesday that it’s acceptable to criticize Christians but not Muslims, because he does not “fear” retaliation from Christians. “I know what keeps me from critiquing Islam on my blog is just fear,” Phil Zuckerman said at a discussion on religious liberty at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. “I’ve got three kids. So I know I can say anything about Christianity or Mormonism, and I’m not living in fear, which is a testament to Christianity and Mormonism, and that’s wonderful. Thank you,” said Zuckerman, who is a self-described atheist and professor of secular studies at Pitzer College...

Using an erotic, pornographic tone, Hollywood leading lady Scarlett Johansson reads verses from the Holy Bible on a new comedy album, in order to mock “misogynistic” quotes within the Book of Deuteronomy. Former Saturday Night Live writer and occasional performer Mike O’Brien recruited the A-list star to voice a “Sexy Bible” track on his upcoming comedy album, Tasty Radio.

A group of robe-wearing, incense-spreading, self-described Seattle Satanists plans to attend a Washington state high school football game on Thursday, in the latest turn of a controversy over a Christian coach’s postgame prayers. Bremerton High School senior class President Abe Bartlett said Wednesday that he was one of a few students who invited The Satanic Temple of Seattle to attend the game. He called it an effort to get the school district to clarify its policy: While officials last month asked assistant coach Joe Kennedy to stop praying at the 50-yard line, he has continued the practice and threatened a...
  • Your teen in a seductive world (Promiscuity and cultural issues related to it)

    10/27/2015 8:09:04 PM PDT · by DonJohnson20 · 10 replies
Have you looked around lately? Our kids live in a dangerous generation. They are constantly bombarded by seductive imagery. Innocence is threatened at a young age. And our culture isn’t doing anything to stem the tide. In fact, it’s pulling our teens away from purity and pushing them toward promiscuity. Sexual images are not just in an occasional movie or magazine—they are everywhere! While many teens understand and welcome their parent’s “messages” about modesty and abstinence, the overwhelming influence of their peers and their culture easily dwarfs those positive messages. There is a near constant pressure forced on teens to...

Since birth, Julianna Snow has suffered from an incurable neurodegenerative disorder that has had her in and out of the hospital, and has prevented her from going to the City Bible Church in Portland, Ore., where her family belongs. Tribune Media Wire reported that when 5-year-old Julianna was 4, her family made her an offer: The next time she got seriously ill, she could choose to go to the hospital or heaven. There, they said, she would be able to eat without a tube, play and run— everyday activities other kids get to engage in but ones that Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease,...

The world is witnessing the destruction of Syria, a country with a rich history going back millennia. But there is one significant minority that faces total annihilation if the radical factions prevail: Syria’s Christian community. Syria has played a crucial role in Christianity right from its very start. Paul is said to have been converted on the road to Damascus. There are important Christian landmarks there, some built by pious saints and daring knights over centuries. Aramaic, the language of Jesus Christ, can still be heard in some parts of the country.

A major battle in a war over the future of Western civilization has been lost as millions of migrants from the Middle East who largely oppose Judeo-Christian values and have no intention of assimilating flood the United States, Britain, France, Germany and other nations, talk-radio host Michael Savage told his listeners Tuesday. Savage said he received an email from someone he described as "far smarter than I am" and "farseeing." "He said to me, 'It's over.'" Paraphrasing the email, Savage said that what German Chancellor Angela Merkel is "doing to Germany, what the weakling is doing to England, what the...

I occasionally listen to George Noory, on a radio show called Coast to Coast. This program used to be hosted by Art Bell. It features a dialog about paranormal experiences, UFO's, debates about green, evolution and religious issues. Every so often, so often, a guest will come on the air saying we are 'in the last days' before the apocalypse. Most recently, there was talk of The Shemitah; a belief of events starting with the appearance of a Blood Moon, that eventually lead to the end times. The end of the shemitah year was on Sept. 13th. The date passed...

The law in Aceh province stipulates that anyone caught having homosexual sex can face up to 100 strokes of a cane, a fine of up to 1 kilogram (2.2 pounds) of gold (about $37,400) and imprisonment of up to 100 months. Adulterers are also subject to 100 lashes of a cane, but not to the fine or imprisonment.
  • Why NOT having sex may be good for you

Sex. Some of us do it, most of us like it and we all think about it…. A lot. I know I do (though I was told that it’s normal). Gettin’ busy really isn’t the taboo subject that it once was. Whereas once upon a time the conversation was relegated to whispers behind closed doors, nowadays it’s discussed openly and without shame. As a stand-up comedian, I’ve seen hacks openly depict the most depraved, explicit sexual acts they can think of just to get a laugh out of the audience. Clearly, telling wiener jokes is no longer the treading of...

An Astor man was arrested this morning after telling deputies that he was "the creator and owned the world," a Lake County Sheriff's Office arrest affidavit states. While on patrol, a deputy noticed Allen Ramsey, 61, hiding in a bush on the north side of State Road 40, deputies said. The deputy sheriff said Ramsey was watching a worker at the Kangaroo Express, 24421 State Road 40, pick up garbage outside the store, so the deputy asked Ramsey to come out of the bushes, the report states. Ramsey tried to hide himself better, but finally came out of the bush,...

A Buddhist monk successfully finished the "doiri" (entrance into the hall), a ritual of fasting and prayer that is part of the "sennichi kaihogyo" (1,000-day walk) monk training, on Oct. 21 -- becoming the 13th person since the end of World War II to complete the grueling procedure. Kogen Kamahori, 41, chief monk of Zenju-in at Enryaku-ji temple in Otsu, became the first person to successfully complete the doiri since the monk Endo Mitsunaga did so eight years ago. Sennichi kaihogyo refers to the 1,000 days of training that take place over a period of seven years for Buddhist monks...

The titular leader of the Palestinian Arab community in the previous generation, Haj Amin Al Husseini, the Mufti of Jerusalem, forged a pact with Adolf Hitler on November 28, 1941, one week before the Wannasee conference, originally scheduled for December 7, 1941, yet was postponed by one month, due to the attack on Pearl Harbor on that very day. The protocols of the Hitler-Mufti pact that were presented as evidence against the Mufti in the Nuremberg war crimes trials explicitly state that Hitler would exterminate the Jews in Europe, while the Mufti would enlist Nazi aid to exterminate Jews in...

Traces of blood discovered on ancient arrowheads in Guatemala prove the Maya took part in bloody ceremonies to communicate with their gods. Bloodletting ceremonies involved piercing the earlobes, tongues and even genitals of willing participants and using the spilled blood to 'feed' their deities. The arrows were collected from five sites in the central American region, including a temple at Zacpetén where it's thought bloodletting ceremonies took place around 500 years ago.

Sam Harris Gets Morality Wrong Michael Egnor October 21, 2015 10:48 AM | Permalink My colleague David Klinghoffer has a superb post on a TED talk given in 2010 by atheist neuroscientist Sam Harris. Harris insists that moral law can be derived from science: [T]he separation between science and human values is an illusion -- and actually quite a dangerous one at this point in human history. Now, it's often said that science cannot give us a foundation for morality and human values, because science deals with facts, and facts and values seem to belong to different spheres. It's often...

There's a surprising new wrinkle in the story of the celebrated Shroud of Turin. A group of Italian researchers have found that the 14-foot-long garment -- believed by some to be the burial cloth of Jesus Christ, even though science has proven that's not the case -- contains DNA from plants found all over Earth.

In Mauritania, a vast, desert country straddling sub-Saharan Africa and the continent’s Arab north, anywhere from 4 to 20 percent of the population are slaves. There are few statistics, so the exact figures are unclear, but even the lowest estimate makes Mauritania the country with the highest percentage of slaves in the world. While slaves here aren’t physically chained, many remain imprisoned by deep psychological bonds, as well as crippling poverty. Some consider it a sacred duty to serve their masters, tending to the livestock or doing the housework with no pay. Others, like Essatim, grow up knowing nothing else....
