A Conservative Case against Capitalism and Industrialism The purpose of this paper will be a critique of capitalism and industrialization which I would call capitalism’s natural offspring. The very nature of this critique will come from a profoundly Catholic and Conservative perspective. Most people who have criticized capitalism and industrialism have often done so from a left-liberal political perspective and outlook. This can be seen from the writings of individuals such as Marx and Engel, as well as from ideas such as Socialism, Communism, and various other modern liberal ideologies. However in presenting this conservative critique of capitalism and industrialism...

The newest video sketch. Libs are already pissed in the comments section. Jehovah’s witnesses come to my house nearly every saturday. At best, they stay too long trying to convince me of their craziness. At worst, they get offended when I tell them that they’re wrong. Still, let’s put it in context. They’re mildly annoying, but they aren’t trying to kill me. Which is more than I can say for Jihadis. Just what would it be like if Jihadi Witnesses took the same tact? Watch below.

A friend of a woman mourning the loss of her three-year-old wrote in to The 700 Club asking what to tell her friend when asked how a good God would let some ill children live but let her child die. In his infinite wisdom, Robertson said that God can see the big picture of life and probably killed her child before he or she could become Adolf Hitler. Don’t believe me? Don’t think Robertson himself would have the gall to say such a thing to a woman grieving her three-year-old? Here’s the full quote: "As far as God’s concerned, He...

"And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness."(2 Thess 2:11-12) "And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the...

Two separate applications for leave to bring petitions challenging the result of the referendum clearing the way for same-sex marriage here will come before the High Court on Friday. Both matters are due to come before the president of the High Court, Mr. Justice Nicholas Kearns, and both applicants, should they get leave to bring their petitions, are seeking injunctions preventing the issuing of a certificate verifying the referendum result pending the outcome of their proceedings. One challenge has been initiated by Gerry Walshe, an electrician from Lisdeen Road, County Clare; while the second is brought by Maurice J. Lyons,...

The Angel of the North is a contemporary sculpture, designed by Antony Gormley, which is located in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, England. Completed in 1998, it is a steel sculpture of an angel, 20 metres (66 ft) tall, with wings measuring 54 metres (177 ft) across.[1] The wings do not stand straight sideways, but are angled 3.5 degrees forward; Gormley did this to create "a sense of embrace". It stands on a hill on the southern edge of Low Fell English Lake District , overlooking the A1 and A167 roads into Tyneside, and the East Coast Main Line rail route,...

Veteran actor and gay rights activist Patrick Stewart has defended a Christian bakery which was found guilty of discrimination for refusing to bake a cake with a pro-gay marriage slogan. Last month, a judge ruled that Ashers Baking Company in Northern Ireland had discriminated against a gay customer by refusing to make a cake with the words “support gay marriage”, along with a picture of Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street. Gareth Lee commissioned the cake for an event to mark International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. The bakery initially accepted the order, but called Mr. Lee two days later...

Amid criticism over Saudi Arabia’s hosting of an international conference on combating intolerance and discrimination based on religion or belief, two U.S. lawmakers have introduced a resolution calling for the global repeal of blasphemy laws, citing the kingdom as an especially egregious offender. The bill, introduced by Reps. Joseph Pitts (R-Pa.) and Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) states that “Saudi Arabia has used criminal charges of blasphemy to suppress discussion and debate and silence dissidents.” […] Less than a mile-and-a-half away from the scene of the flogging (of Raif Badawi), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Wednesday and Thursday this...

Guam has become the first U.S. territory to recognize gay marriage after a federal judge struck down the prohibition. U.S. District Court Chief Judge Frances M. Tydingco-Gatewood issued the decision after a hearing Friday morning local time. It goes into effect at 8 a.m. Tuesday, when gay couples can begin applying for marriage licenses, the Pacific Daily News reported. Attorneys representing the government of Guam said in a May 18 court document that “should a court strike current Guam law, they would respect and follow such a decision.” Loretta M. Pangelinan and Kathleen M. Aguero filed the lawsuit in April...

Saarland’s minister-president stirred anger on Wednesday by comparing the prospect of gay marriage to incest and polygamy. Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservative Christian Democratic Union party (CDU), told the Saarbrücker Zeitung that she was worried about the consequences of changing the definition of marriage—currently narrowly defined as being between a man and a woman in the German Constitution. “If we open up this definition to become a long-term responsible partnership between two adults, then other demands can’t be ruled out, such as a marriage between close relatives or between more than two people,” she opined. …

Catholic and Protestant pastors are still reacting with horror to Ireland’s recent vote in favor of same sex marriage. Fr. George W. Rutler of the Church of Saint Michael on West 34th Street in Manhattan released a strongly worded letter at the weekend claiming that Irish voters have effectively defied their patron St. Patrick and welcomed druidism back to Ireland. “The landslide vote in Eire for legalizing the fictitious form of marriage between persons of the same sex, in contradiction of all laws natural and divine, unearths the pulsating Druidism that Saint Patrick and his fellow saints defied,” Rutler wrote...

Rushed my wife to the hospital yesterday AM. She was experiencing excruciating abdominal pain which quickly escalated to severe chest pain as we entered the ER. After some blood work, they performed a cardiac catheterization which, to my great relief, showed no heart problems. On the other hand, other tests and CAT scans are showing an inflammation of the kidney but no stones show up. More tests today. Meanwhile the abdominal pain continues which they are treating with pain meds. Would appreciate Prayers for my wife. Thanks.

Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Devon Still is asking for prayers for his daughter, Leah, who’s had a setback in her fight against cancer. The 5-year-old girl went into a hospital on May 5 to start the process of getting a stem cell transplant. The 4-to-6-week process involves high doses of chemotherapy at the outset. Still posted on social media late Friday that Leah “hit a pretty serious complication,” with her liver affected by the chemotherapy. “They caught it early so hopefully it gives the doctors a better chance of stopping it from getting aggressive,” Still posted. “As you can imagine our...

Harlan Ellison is still an angry young man, except he'll be 81 on May 27. He has used this anger, fueled by childhood anti-Semitism, throughout his extraordinary career as a writer of speculative fiction. This year saw the publication of his 116th and 117th (so far) books: The Top of the Volcano, a collection of his awardwinning short stories, and a graphic novelization of his original script for "The City on the Edge of Forever," widely considered the best Star Trek episode ever written. Although Ellison's hundreds of published stories contain a wealth of Jewish characters, his most complex creation...
