POLICE have arrested nine Iraqi migrants on suspicion of gang raping a 28-year-old German woman, who was subjected to a horrifying four hour assault. The nine men, who are all seeking asylum in Austria, had travelled to Vienna for New Year’s Eve celebrations where the assault took place. France is urging its citizens to take migrants into their homes as official processing centres cannot cope with the huge influx. Housing Minister Emmanuelle Cosse said the government would offer incentives to charities that help individuals house migrants, proposing that charities would receive 1,500 euros for each migrant they manage to place with a family.

There are currently 147 reception centres across France, but these are in massive demand as desperate refugees continue to flee the Middle East. Housing minister Emmanuelle Cosse has pledged to built a further 50 centres before the end of next month in a desperate bid to ease the crisis. A man who threatened to blow himself up on the roof of an asylum seeker and refugee centre in Denmark was arrested on Wednesday. The 22-year-old, who has not been identified, had been standing on the roof of the Nyborg Asylum Centre on the island of Funen making bomb threats. But after a discussion with police negotiators, he allowed himself to be taken into custody at around 1.30pm. Initial reports suggested the outburst was due to some kind of "love problem."
