ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Only the Islamic State (ISIS) can “fulfill our ambitions and dreams,” said firebrand Kurdish cleric Mulla Krekar, who was recently freed from a Norwegian jail. “The Islamic State is not something strange; it is the only element that can fulfill our ambitions and dreams,” he said in an Al Jazeera interview. The 58-year-old preacher added that all Muslims calling for resistance to the extremist Sunni ISIS “Caliphate” are “cowards,” and accused them of following orders from the United States and Shiite Iran. MANSFIELD, Ohio — A drone dropped a package of drugs into a prison yard while inmates were outside, sparking a fight, prison officials said. The package was dropped July 29 at the Mansfield Correctional Institution, about 65 miles southwest of Cleveland. EL RENO, Okla. — President Obama, who in recent weeks has shed any reticence to talk about racism and discrimination in American life, suggested inside the walls of a federal prison in Oklahoma on Thursday that under different circumstances, he could have been there as an inmate rather than as president. “That’s what strikes me — there but for the grace of God,” the president said, standing in an empty cellblock with polished concrete floors and gray-and-white walls. Minutes after he had finished meeting with six nonviolent drug offenders in El Reno federal prison, a medium-security facility, Obama said his...

President Obama will use his clemency power to release dozens of inmates from federal custody this week, doubling the commutations he’s granted so far and reassuring advocates that he is serious about using his executive authority to free people serving long decades for nonviolent crimes. If the president grants another 40 or so commutations as expected, he will have shortened the sentences of more prisoners than any president since Gerald Ford, who extended clemency to thousands of Vietnam draft dodgers. (Obama’s record on pardoning ex-convicts outside of prison, however, has remained stingy by historical standards.) The commutations will be granted...

“The president will outline the unfairness in much of our criminal justice system, highlight bipartisan ideas for reform and lay out his ideas to make our country fairer, smarter and more cost effective while keeping the American people safe and secure,” Earnest said. Obama, who views sentencing reform as one of the remaining areas where he may be able to forge a bipartisan compromise before leaving office, will visit El Reno, a medium security prison in El Reno, Oklahoma. Federal Bureau of Prisons Director Charles Samuels, who recently announced he will retire by the end of the year, is expected...

NEW YORK — One of the inmates ended up dead and the second was shot and captured by an alert state trooper, but it looks like heads are rolling at the Clinton Correctional Facility, now that the 23-day hunt for two escaped prisoners has ended. The New York State Department of Corrections is replacing 12 prison employees, including the prison’s superintendent Steven Racette and deputy superintendent Stephen Brown. Racette was seen in a photo (embedded below) with Gov. Andrew Cuomo on June 6, when the daring prison break was discovered. The DOC sent a statement to PIX11 Investigates Tuesday announcing...

President Barack Obama accidentally compared himself to a prisoner stuck in the White House while speaking at a Beverly Hills fundraiser at filmmaker Tyler Perry’s house Thursday. What do you think? “We should be reforming our criminal justice system in such a way that we are not incarcerating nonviolent offenders in ways that renders them incapable of getting a job after they leave office,” Obama said, effectively comparing being in prison to being in office. What do you think? “Little slip of the tongue there. Little Freudian slip,” Obama said

TV reporter has no idea that a man with a bag walks past her in the background... ties it to a rope and someone pulls it over the prison wall. More likely filled with drugs, booze, KFC and a cell phone to call a couple of hookers.

"You REALLY need to see what happens in the BACKGROUND as Fox News reports from outside a prison" (video) This video is making the rounds on Facebook for good reason. A sharp-eyed Fox News viewer caught some elicit goings-ons in the background as a reporter recorded from outside the upstate New York prison where two murderous inmates escaped. And that… is how you sneak in drugs, phones and other illegal stuff into a maximum state prison! Now do you think that’s possible without a guard helping out? Especially in the same prison where a guard is accused of helping two...
