Hillary Clinton won today's Democratic primary in Puerto Rico, according to the Associated Press. With about a quarter of precincts reporting, Clinton had about two-thirds of the vote. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders had about one-third. Delegates from Puerto Rico put Clinton just shy of the 2,383 delegates she needs to clinch the Democratic nomination — and become the first woman to win the nomination of a major party in American politics. The Associated Press puts her less than 30 delegates from that threshold.

California is shaping up as a showdown between Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders, with Tuesday’s primary threatening to prevent Mrs. Clinton from a strong finish to the long primary season that would make it easier for her to unify the party ahead of the general election.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign had once hoped the California primary could be a coronation for the former secretary of State, the last major stop en route to claiming the Democratic presidential nomination. Hypocrisy. As you probably have heard, Hillary has changed her mind and is now opting not to debate Bernie Sander ahead of the California primary. The event was to be held by Fox News, sometime between now and June 7th. Fox is none too pleased, and they issued the following statement: “Naturally, Fox News is disappointed that Secretary Clinton has declined our debate invitation, especially given that the race is still contested and she had previously agreed to a final debate before the California primary.”

Donald Trump didn't just outlast a long list of Republican challengers to be the last man standing for the presidential nomination. He won by remaking the Republican Primary electorate itself. About 25.7 million people have voted in the 2016 Republican primaries and caucuses so far. That's about seven million more votes than were cast in the entire 2012 GOP presidential primary - and there are likely still well over two million votes yet to be cast in nine states this year, including in the nation's most populous state, California.
