Pray For Our American Heroes and Our Nation I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 (KJV) ----

“Remember, not every being that occupies the unseen world, the spiritual world, is a good guy, is a good spirit.” Mr. Fisher said interfaith gatherings — specifically those that join Christians with Muslims — should be regarded with alarm, Raw Story reported. “No Christian, in space over which he has authority, should ever willingly allow another spiritual leader to invite the presence of demons into his sanctuary,” he said, Raw Story reported. “This is for the simple reason that if they are invited, they will come. Thus any clergyman, whether an evangelical pastor or the pope himself, compromises the spiritual...

A Sudanese judge on Thursday sentenced a Christian woman to hang for apostasy, despite appeals by Western embassies for compassion and respect for religious freedom. Born to a Muslim father, the woman was convicted under the Islamic sharia law that has been in force in Sudan since 1983 and outlaws conversions on pain of death. Meriam Yahia Ibrahim Ishag, 27, is eight months pregnant and married to a Christian national of South Sudan which broke away in 2011, human rights activists say. "We gave you three days to recant but you insist on not returning to Islam. I sentence you...

The Supreme Court has upheld the right of local officials to open town council meetings with prayer, ruling that this does not violate the Constitution even if the prayers routinely stress Christianity. The court said in a 5-4 decision Monday that the content of the prayers is not critical as long as officials make a good-faith effort at inclusion.

Yesterday’s culture-war-food-fight post seems to have achieved the desired effect. Let’s double down.We haven’t covered it (I think) but there’s a case pending before SCOTUS right now that will decide the future of this subject. Like many legislatures (including Congress), a town in upstate New York begins every meeting of the city council with a prayer. It used to be that those prayers were overwhelmingly Christian, replete with invocations of Jesus. After a few locals complained, the town decided to keep the daily blessing but to start rotating in ministers from other faiths too to deliver it. Question for the...

A small, coastal town in central California has settled a lawsuit regarding prayer at City Council meetings, ultimately agreeing to no longer hold any form of prayer, whether sectarian or non-sectarian, ahead of the local government meetings. City officials say they decided to settle the lawsuit to avoid further legal costs paid by taxpayer money. Pismo Beach city officials announced their settlement earlier this week, nearly six months after the Freedom From Religion Foundation [FFRF] and the local chapter of Atheists United San Luis Obispo filed a lawsuit against the city, arguing that it had violated the U.S. Constitution's separation...

An atheist organization has sent a letter of complaint to a city council in Michigan over the local government's usage of prayer at council meetings. The Madison, Wis.-based Freedom From Religion Foundation has threatened legal action against the Saginaw City Council. In a letter sent to Saginaw City Manager Tim Morales, FFRF staff attorney Rebecca S. Markert wrote that Saginaw "should drop these prayers altogether." "Government prayers exclude a significant portion of Americans from the democratic process, are of dubious legality, and are a repudiation of our secular history," wrote Markert. "City Council members are free to pray privately or...

Today my 91 year old Grandma fell. My Mom and Aunt went to her house as she was able to get to the phone (they'll probably get her a Life Alert bracelet now even though she has been vocal about not wanting one). She said it was her thigh that hurt, and she had no hip pain. However, she couldn't put weight on it. They called a life squad, and she was taken to the ER. The doctor surprised everyone when they said she had broken her hip. That's one thing you don't want on an elderly person. The doctor...

I'm not sure how to post this personal thread but here goes. Our daughter is in the ICU with pneumonia and the doctors say the next 24 hours are crucial to her recovery. She hasn't shown any improvement with the treatment she's received for the past three days. She went in the hospital the day after Christmas, spent her 40th birthday there on Friday and was moved to the ICU today. So we are praying that the Good Lord will surround her with his blessings and protect her. Her just turned five year old son wasn't allowed to see her...

Hello again FReepers. Yet again another medical issue, undoubtedly related to my cancer surgery a month ago. This time I did not have any time to post before discovering the issue, so after many days of being in the hospital I can give more information than guessing and ask for continued prayers.

Please pray for my mother, she is in the hospital and the doctors are saying things are not looking good. She has a number of issues hitting at once. Poor circulation in her legs, pnemonia, an irregular heart beat and pain in her stomach. I will be enroute. Your prayers are appreciated. God Bless.

On Thursday, Fox News’ Ed Henry tweeted that MSNBC hosts Ed Schultz and Lawrence O’Donnell, as well as Ezra Klein of the Washington Post and Fox News’ Juan Williams, had been invited for a private off-the-record chat with President Obama. Obama’s signature program, Obamacare, has been flailing in the press for weeks, and Obama apparently believes that it is about time to reshift the narrative:
