Sorry Dems, it's not working 80% is a yuge number. In polling terms, that’s almost astronomical. 80% of the American people almost never agree on anything. Yet that’s the number of respondents who want to end sanctuary cities in favor of local law enforcement reporting illegals to the feds. That’s the top line of a new Harvard–Harris Poll, which contains some very good news for Trump and some very bad news for Democrats.

A poll released today found that Americans are overwhelmingly against sanctuary cities. From the Hill: A survey from Harvard–Harris Poll provided exclusively to The Hill found that 80 percent of voters say local authorities should have to comply with the law by reporting to federal agents the illegal immigrants they come into contact with…A majority — 52 percent — say they support Trump’s two executive orders allowing for the construction of a southern border wall, increasing the number of immigration officers by 10,000 and finding a way to revoke federal funds for sanctuary cities. The crackdown on sanctuary cities is the...

Former presidential candidate Carly Fiorina and national radio host Laura Ingraham are polling dead even in the Virginia Senate race, according to a Quinnipiac poll released Friday. The two would face off in a Republican Primary before challenging Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine, who recently concluded his bid for vice president under Hillary Clinton. Both Fiorina and Ingraham are polling at 36 percent in a head-to-head against Kaine. Kaine fared better over Fiorina, earning 57 percent compared to her 36 percent, one percent better than he fared against Ingraham. Kaine earned 56 percent against the conservative radio host. Neither woman was...

The Finger Lakes Times got "freeped" last week… Late Monday afternoon, as always, we put up our online poll question for last week: What kind of grade would you give Donald Trump for the job he's done in his first few weeks as president? The answers were A, B, C, D and F. Simple enough, right? A normal poll for us usually draws 200-300 votes; a really heavily trafficked one about a hot local issue might pull in 400-500. We noticed right away. So did our readers. Managing Editor Chuck Schading, who administers our website, did some research and learned...

Barack Obama has been whisked to a very good table at the club of former presidents, according to a C-SPAN survey of 91 presidential historians published on Friday. Obama’s 12th-place ranking only a month after leaving office is the best for any president since Ronald Reagan, who ranks ninth in the new survey. The list updates previous C-SPAN surveys compiled in 2009 and 2000.

I guess you could call this a win for the Trump White House. From Fox News: By a slim 45-42 percent margin, more voters say they trust the Trump administration to “tell the public the truth” than the reporters who cover the White House. Ten percent say neither… There are the expected partisan differences. Eight in 10 Republicans (81 percent) trust the Trump administration more to tell the truth, while roughly the same portion of Democrats trust the media (79 percent). Independents are twice as likely to put their faith in Trump as the press (52-26 percent), while 16 percent...

A Gallup poll released Monday found clear majorities of Americans believe President Trump "keeps his promises, is a strong and decisive leader, and can bring about changes the country needs." When asked to evaluate whether the phrase "keeps his promises" applies to Trump, 62 percent of respondents responded affirmatively. Fifty-nine percent replied affirmatively when questioned on whether he is a "strong and decisive leader" and 53 percent agreed that he "can bring about the change this country needs." President Trump scored lowest with respondents when asked whether he is "honest and trustworthy," a notable disconnect considering they gave him the...

PPP's new national poll finds that Donald Trump's popularity as President has declined precipitously just over the last two weeks. On our first poll of his Presidency voters were evenly divided on Trump, with 44% approving of him and 44% also disapproving. Now his approval rating is 43%, while his disapproval has gone all the way up to 53%. If voters could choose they'd rather have both Barack Obama (52/44) or Hillary Clinton (49/45) instead of Trump.Just three weeks into his administration, voters are already evenly divided on the issue of impeaching Trump with 46% in favor and 46% opposed....

So much winning How hard a win is this, really? Prevailing over the media is sort of like when you go to the gym and you glance over at the 400-pound guy on the treadmill and think to yourself, “I’m in better shape than him!” Right. You’re Mr. Universe, champ.

Histrionics having no effect whatsoever It bears repeating because it’s easy to forget: The loudest among us are not necessarily the most numerous. In fact, they’re usually not, because if they were in the majority they’d be winning, and they wouldn’t be so hysterical. If that’s true, so is this corollary: The most hysterical have gotten that way precisely because they can’t think of a reasoned method of persuading anyone. They can get lots of attention - hysterics usually can - but just because people are looking at you and talking about you doesn’t mean they have any sympathy for...

All three of President Donald Trump’s recent executive orders have earned majority disapproval ratings among Americans, according to a new Gallup poll released Thursday afternoon. Arguably the most controversial order came on January 27, when Trump banned Syrian refugees and immigrants from seven majority-Muslim countries from entering the United States. Since then, Americans in cities from coast to coast have gathered in airports and streets to protest the ban, while the White House defends the president’s actions. Even some fellow Republicans have publicly criticized the ban. According to the poll, more than half—55 percent—of Americans disapprove of the temporary travel ban, while 42...

Two recent statistics on the performance of the outgoing Obama Administration do not reflect well on his time in office. On the one hand, the Obama years were the only presidential term going all the way back to FDR that failed to meet a 3% GDP annual growth rate for any year of his eight in office. Even the “malaise” of the Carter years did better. So too, did the Great Depression years of FDR’s 12-years at the helm. Despite the media’s portrayal of Obama as “one of the all-time greats,” in the Gallup poll of job approval ratings of...

A majority of Americans disapprove of President Trump's work during his first week in the White House - breaking a record of how long it generally takes the majority of Americans to disapprove of a president. On Saturday, 51 percent of Americans disapproved of Trump, a Gallup poll found. The poll tracks daily approval ratings for Trump by surveying 1,500 Americans. It took just eight days to reach these ratings. It took at least several hundred days for the majority of Americans to disapprove of past presidents.
