  • Bryant Gumbel - Who Wrote "Night Before Christmas" - Henry Livingston or Clement Moore

The first interview related to the quest of Vassar Professor Don Foster and myself to prove "Night Before Christmas" was written by Henry Livingston, not Clement Moore. This followed our two page interviews in People Magazine and The New York Times. In 2014, a mock trial in Troy NY came back with a jury verdict that Henry Livingston was, indeed, the author and December 7, 2014 was named Henry Livingston Day in Troy NY, where the poem was first published. In 2016, following years of statistical research, Auckland University Emeritus Professor Mac Jackson came out with his book "Who Wrote...
  • Bob Dylan Brings ‘Never Ending Tour’ To Beacon Theatre For First of Four Shows (SHOW REVIEW)

    Glide Magazine ^ | November 22nd, 2017 | by Shawn Donohue
Every year at the end of November, Bob Dylan pushes pause on the Never Ending Tour to rest his bones for winter before returning to the stage in early April. Most years Dylan tries to end things in his adopted hometown of NYC around Thanksgiving (perhaps he secretly dresses as a clown to wrangle a giant balloon down Fifth Avenue) and on Monday, November, 20th Bob and his steadfast band played the first of four shows on the Upper West Side of Manhattan to wrap up their 2017. The Beacon Theater was a nightmare to enter because of heightened security...
  • device that 'thinks like a murderer' and produces creepy poetry to help crack the [Zodiac] ciphers

A supercomputer programmed to think like the notorious Zodiac killer produced some creepy poetry when fed all the known writings of the elusive criminal, it was learned Thursday. A University of Southern California professor created an artificial intelligence software that was designed to help crack the code of the Z340, the Zodiac killer’s famous cipher. The ciphers, which were sent with letters to the police and newspapers in Northern California during the 1960s and 70s, contain letters and symbols that may hide clues as to the killer’s identity.

Feeling helpless hearing the news of yet another mass shooting, this time in a church in a small town in Texas. Name wasn't Islamic, so my guess is either a plain old fashioned lunatic, or a snowflake in meltdown. Which ever. This is all I can do about it, start a memorial song thread for people to contribute to. Theme is Texas, cowboys, oil wells, whatever Texas means to you, or Baptist hymns, if that's what you want. Songs are best, but poems, anecdotes, whatever moves you. I grabbed one of the best again, with the song Giant.
  • Looks like Antifa (short for anti-American fascists) was a complete and utter dud today.

What the hell was that? November 4 was to be the big day for the anti-Trump fascists, but very few people showed up. And those who did were rather pathetic.

Bryant Gumbel 2000    Mac Jackson's Statistical Results 2016    People Magazine 2000    NY Times 2000    Mac Jackson came out last year with statistical proofs showing the unconscious characteristics of Henry Livingston are consistent with the poet of "Night Before Christmas." Moore's characteristics are statistically not a match. Mac's conclusion: Livingston, not Moore, wrote the poem.

Contribute songs, videos, poems, anecdotes, pictures, anything at all that commemorates New York City, the life there both good and bad, high and low brow, the previous attacks (Such as Osama Step Right Up and Kiss My Rosy Irish Arse [composed by one of the firemen of 9/11]). We did it for the country music festival in Vegas. Let's do it for New York, New York. I started it out with Sinatra for a source URL. Please add your own contributions.

~Young Goodman Brown~ I have yet to hear a finer reading of Hawthorne's classic story than this version recorded by Basil Rathbone. It is moody, chilling, insightful and masterfully dramatic as Rathbone imparts his unique style to each of the voiced characters. Here you will find the essence of true horror. Not the blood and guts of a slasher movie. Nor the melodrama of Vampires and Werewolves. But the real horror that lies in the corruption of sin in the human heart. Listen - and then pray for the coming of the dawn... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPhQCJ6waLI

STATESVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) – Two men were arrested in Iredell County Tuesday after police say one of them shot at passing vehicles while the two were burning a lawnmower and car in their front yard. Deputies were called to a home on the 800 block of Blackwelder Road after someone reported shots being fired at passing motorists. Once on scene, law enforcement found 30-year-old Bobby Lee Messer Jr. and 62-year-old Jimmy Carson Messer in the yard drinking beer. According to the report, the duo was watching a lawnmower and vehicle “fully engulfed in flames burn.” Bobby Messer, they said, admitted...

Had a rather serious MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT on July 4th and haven't been up to my old self for the last three weeks, but am feeling much better now. At birth we boarded the train and met our parents, and we believe they will always travel on our side. However, at some station our parents will step down from the train, leaving us on this journey alone. As time goes by, other people will board the train; and they will be significant i.e our siblings, friends, children, and even the love of your life. Many will step down and leave a permanent vacuum. Others will go so unnoticed that we don't realize they vacated their seats. This train ride will be full of joy, sorrow, fantasy, expectations, hellos, goodbyes,...
