(CNN) — The US Coast Guard was searching Lake Erie Friday for a small plane carrying six people who had attended a Cleveland Cavaliers basketball game before flying out of the city late Thursday. Three adults and three children were on board the aircraft, CNN affiliate WEWS reported. Their identities were not immediately known.

A Russian plane has disappeared from radar just minutes after take-off from the Black Sea resort of Sochi, Russian media say. They are quoting a source at the emergency ministry as saying the missing aircraft is a Tu-154. Between 70 and 100 people are reported to be on board the plane. A small town tradition that many animal rights groups have called cruel took place this weekend when six live turkeys were dropped from a plane from 500 feet in the air. One died upon impact. On Friday, one of the turkeys was found dead on the ground after being chucked from the plane. It's unclear how many die each year.
