Fifty years separate us, now, from 1968 and the two momentous legacies of the then soon to ending failed presidency of Lyndon Johnson: The declaring of war on America’s supposed domestic ills in the form of the “Great Society” programs, and the aggressive military intervention in a real war in Vietnam. Both of these “wars” reflected the arrogance and hubris of the social engineer who believes that he has the power and ability to remake and direct society in his own preferred image. The Vietnam War still leaves a searing memory of a military conflict ten thousand miles away from...

China hopes to create a 'mini biosphere' on the dark side of the Moon, with flowers and silkworms sustaining each other as they grow on the lifeless lunar surface. The unprecedented plan to create life in outer space is the most intriguing part of China's lunar probe mission later this year, and could be a major boost for dreams that humans will one day live on the Moon.

Broward County Public Schools will not allow conservative campus activist Charlie Kirk to speak on Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School’s campus about gun rights. Broward School District spokeswoman Cathleen Brennan said Thursday that she has “met with the student organizers and advised them that non-school sponsored, student-initiated guest speaker assemblies/meetings are not permitted to take place on campus,” the Associated Press reports. Kirk, founder and executive director of the conservative student group Turning Point USA, was invited to speak by Parkland student Kyle Kashuv, who supports the Second Amendment. A groundswell of support on Twitter pushed Kirk to accept the...

Drinking will shorten your life, according to a study that suggests every glass of wine or pint of beer over the daily recommended limit will cut half an hour from the expected lifespan of a 40-year-old. Those who think a glass of red wine every evening will help keep the heart healthy will be dismayed. The paper, published in the Lancet medical journal, says five standard 175ml glasses of wine or five pints a week is the upper safe limit – about 100g of alcohol, or 12.5 units in total. More than that raises the risk of stroke, fatal aneurysm...

A new mural calling for the dismantling of “whiteness†has sparked controversy at the University of Southern California. The mural, part of a USC Visions and Voices “Off the Wall†series of multi-media installation, features the images of four women and with the words “Dismantle whiteness and misogyny on this campus†plastered above, The College Fix reported. The controversial mural was erected by the school’s Institute for Diversity and Empowerment (IDEA) and students from a class called “Women: Designing Media for Social Change†in partnership with When Women Disrupt, a self-proclaimed intersectional feminist artist collective and activist group. They define...

Author and media consultant Peter Leyden and political commentator Ruy Teixeira have declared all-out war against conservatives. These regressives (they think they are “progressives” but they are not – they are dragging us backward toward the Dark Ages) argue, quite correctly in my view, that America is currently divided into two camps, and one camp or the other must prevail. In their view, co-existence or bipartisanship is impossible. “At this juncture in our history, there’s no way that a bipartisan path provides the way forward.” In other words, you can forget all that nonsense about crossing the aisle and finding...

Susan Crockford is a polar bear expert with a message that climate alarmists don’t want to hear: polar bear populations are thriving and are certainly in no danger from thinning summer sea ice supposedly caused by ‘man-made global warming.’ That’s why the alarmist establishment is currently trying destroy her. First came a hatchet job in Bioscience, described by climate scientist Judith Curry as “absolutely the stupidest paper I have ever seen published.”

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright is like so many politicians or journalists. She accuses others of doing things they don’t do, while supporting people who do things she claims she doesn’t support. Here is a recent headline and story showing it: Madeleine Albright on fascism and the "most undemocratic president" in U.S. history And here are the money quotes from the story: "I think Trump is the most undemocratic president I have ever seen in American history. And so that's what worries me. But I do think that we all need to pay attention, which is why I'm –...

The Nazis had in their possession a national registry of gun-owners. When they came to power in 1933, they knew exactly who had what kind of gun and how many. And they didn't even have to compile the registry themselves. A few years earlier, the Interior Minister of the German Weimar government had started the gun ownership registry as a way of keeping tabs on extremist groups in Germany, such as the communists...and the Nazis. The national registry was thorough, precise, and extensive. But not public. The Weimar interior minister was wary of it falling into the wrong hands, like...

The women of The View, Tuesday, eagerly promoted the idea that a fascist Donald Trump might bring a dictatorial reign to America. Promoting ex-Secretary of State Madeleine Albright’s new book, the ABC show’s announcer panicked: “Why is former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright warning that President Trump could turn America into a fascist country?” Previewing Albright’s appearance on the show, the announcer hyped: “Still ahead, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright on why she says Donald Trump is the most anti-democratic president in American history.” Co-host Sara Haines uncritically promoted the threat of fascism under Trump: We want to talk...

BUDAPEST: Hungary's nationalist Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Tuesday (Apr 10) that his resounding election win, challenged by the opposition, shows that voters want to stop US billionaire philanthropist George Soros interfering in the country. However the largest opposition party has demanded that the National Elections Office investigate alleged irregularities in the conduct of Sunday's poll. At a news conference with international media two days after cruising to his third straight term, Orban said his government had already drawn up a "Stop Soros" package of legislation. "The reason we submitted this package before the elections is in order to...

A Bank of America executive announced Tuesday that the bank will stop lending money to companies that manufacture "military-style" rifles that are available for civilians to purchase. Anne Finucane, Bank of America’s vice chair, told Bloomberg TV that the bank doesn’t want to “underwrite or finance military-style firearms” and has told a number of gun manufacturers that it will no longer do business with them. The bank has lended to the gun makers Vista Outdoor, Remington and Sturm Ruger, CNBC reported.

51. Delaware Statistics on gun ownership across the U.S. are hard to nail down; the ATF's National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record is not all-inclusive, and some guns go unregistered. But "Injury Prevention," a scholarly journal, has released what may be the closest look yet. Their survey, published in 2015, asked a representative sample of 4,000 adults nationwide whether they own firearms. The findings helped the research group estimate gun ownership rates in each state. Delaware's gun ownership rate is the lowest in the country, at 5.2 percent. That's far below the national average of 29.1 percent.

For the past few weeks, Puerto Rico has been subjected to a multitude of actions by our political class and the oversight board related to the handling of our current debt and fiscal crisis that would make left-wingers such as Nicolás Maduro proud. The actions being undertaken are a response to the current policy clash between the government of Ricardo Rossello and the Fiscal and Oversight Management Board about the host of fiscal plans to be adopted by the commonwealth. As the island heads to its next fiscal year, and the island is still recovering from the disaster of Hurricane...

The appalling way in which Ted Kennedy treated women is currently being exposed in the new film Chappaquiddick. But you wouldn’t know about the sordid legacy of the Kennedy family in the nearly nine minutes CBS spent on Joe Kennedy III. Instead, the network on Friday and Sunday serenaded the “legendary,” storied” Kennedys and hyped Joe Kennedy’s possible presidential run in 2020. Chappaquiddick and the #MeToo movement never came up in the seven minutes Gayle King devoted to the Massachusetts Congressman on Sunday Morning. King, a Democratic donor as well as weekday co-host, cheered: “Joe Kennedy III remains a rising...

Former Vice President Al Gore can't remember a time when our democracy was more directly threatened than today under President Trump. He shared his concerns with CNN's Van Jones over the weekend. With a serious tone and a furrowed brow, Gore recalled the era when President Richard Nixon was "authorizing burglaries, break ins and fire bombings," and still America's resilience proved victorious. With that hopeful history, he thinks we can do it again in the Trump era, when the Constitution is "under assault." "I would bet on American democracy surviving this bleak period, for sure, but the challenge is stiffer...
