An Ohio woman says she feels like a 'prisoner' in her home because a deer has been attacking her outside. Cindy Frost said that she's called police about the doe and asked for assistance in walking her dogs near her suburban Cleveland home located in Mentor-on-the-Lake. 'I feel like I'm a prisoner,' she told WJW. 'I can't take my dogs out for a walk. 'I can't even walk down to the end of my property and when I go to my car I'm looking all around.'

While millions of birds and bats are dying needlessly, wind and solar power inconsistent energy production cannot replace coal. The world’s economy needs fossil fuels, nuclear energy, and hydro-power that provide a constant source of electricity
  • 101 years ago this week, Teddy Roosevelt made history in Louisiana

It was on an earlier trip to the Mississippi Delta during which Teddy Roosevelt's actions would spawn what would become easily his most well-known legacy -- that would be, for better or worse, the introduction of the Teddy bear -- when he famously refused to shoot a captive black bear while hunting in Mississippi in 1902. But some 13 years later, in June 1915, the then-ex-president made a follow-up trip to Louisiana that, while nowhere nearly as well known, or as oft repeated, as that apocryphal Teddy bear tale, proved him to be ten times the sportsman."He was clad in...

A nationwide blackout that hit Kenya on Tuesday was caused by a monkey tripping a transformer at a hydropower plant, leading to the loss of more than 180 megawatts from the grid, power producer Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) said. Power distributor Kenya Power and KenGen said electricity supply was knocked out at 11.30 a.m. local time after a technical fault at Gitaru Hydro power station. KenGen, the East African country's biggest power producer, runs the station.

GARDINER, Mont. — I met the bison calf that took a ride in an SUV early one evening as I drove west in Yellowstone National Park’s Lamar Valley, past the pullout known as “Picnic.” The late afternoon sun on a stormy landscape provided the light that we photographers dream of for shooting gorgeous mountains in the distance and wild animals on the horizon. I spotted the calf near the road and all alone. It was crying out and seemed to be looking for its mother, but no other bison was anywhere close by. Instantly, I knew three things: The calf...

Tourism chiefs in Southend On Sea have announced that three beaches on the seafront will run a trial this summer where ladies will be asked to cover up while sunbathing. According to an email that has been seen by Southend News Network, these so-called ‘Modesty Beach Areas’ will be set up to attract visitors from all over the UK who may be uncomfortable with the sight of ‘excessive bare female skin’ for a number of either cultural or religious reasons.

What's a cat to do when he just wants to play? Steal a stuffed animal from the neighbors, of course. Well, that was the plan for one clever feline, at least. When the cat in the video above spotted an oversized tiger toy in his neighbors yard he just had to have it. Watch as this stealthy little thief hops over the fence carrying the oversized toy, bringing it with him to his own yard. He then happily cuddles his new toy, more than ready for playtime. Throughout the whole video this little guy seems nonchalant about his thieving ways....

"Let me tell you the story." Kenneth Catania, a biologist at Vanderbilt University, takes a breath. He hasn't known this tale long, but it's quickly become one of his favorites. Alexander von Humboldt, a famous German scientist, was on an expedition to document the geography and ecology of South America. He traveled for the better part of five years, debunking myths about mystical lakes, observing celestial events, naming new creatures, and investigating questions large and small. He once spent three whole months studying bird feces. "And one part of his quest was to get eels to do experiments on electricity,"...

But it was the casting of Olivier Award-winning black actress Noma Dumezweni as grown-up bookworm Hermione Granger that caught most media outlets’ attention; in the films, Granger is played by white actress Emma Watson. “I had a bunch of racists telling me that because Hermione ‘turned white’ — that is, lost color from her face after a shock — that she must be a white woman, which I have a great deal of difficulty with,” Rowling told the Observer in a recent interview. “But I decided not to get too agitated about it and simply state quite firmly that Hermione...

The main concern is that the human cells might migrate to the developing pig's brain and make it, in some way, more human. Pablo Ross says this is unlikely but is a key reason why the research is proceeding with such caution: "We think there is very low potential for a human brain to grow, but this is something we will be investigating."

If you own a cat, you know that they crouch down and pounce while playing. The same thing was caught on tape, but with a much larger cat - a 400 pound lion at a zoo in Chiba, Japan. A two-year-old boy got a very close encounter when the lion lunged, after the boy turned his back. The good news is that a glass wall was separating the two when the lion pounced, smashing his face into the wall. The glass wall is only about a month old, allowing lions to see their human visitors more closely than ever before....

SAND LAKE, Mich. - It's a bizarre twist to a year-old murder in Eastern Michigan. A witness has come forward who will never be able to take the stand — the victim's African grey parrot, Bud. The victim's family shared a video with Wood TV that was taken several weeks after the May 2015 murder. In the video, the parrot appears to say, "Don't f—ing shoot." 45-year-old Martin Duram was shot and killed inside his home in Ensley Township, Mich. in May 2015. Police thought at first that the incident was a double homicide. His wife, Glenna, was found with...

A woman who appears to be a professional protester appeared in the middle of the violent rally against Donald Trump in San Jose, Calif., on Thursday evening. Given the previous appearance of paid-protesters at anti-Trump events, it raises the question of whether the violent mobs have been rented — hence the term “rent-a-mob.” Writing in the Daily Caller in March, Trump supporter Roger Stone said, “I learned most were from MoveOn or the Occupy movement … Several admitted answering a Craig’s list ad paying $16.00 an hour for protesters.” Stone claimed the protesters were “paid for mostly by George Soros...

After three years and 720 miles between them, a New Mexico man and his beloved pooch, Brownie, were reunited in San Diego County. The 7-year-old Labrador retriever was spotted wandering the streets last week in the Otay Mesa area when someone scooped him up and took him to the County Animal Services’ care facility in Bonita. Animal Services workers traced his microchip to the dog’s owner in Santa Teresa, New Mexico: Ricardo Dominguez. Dominguez was alerted to the amazing discovery late last week when his girlfriend called him. “She said, ‘They found Brownie. I say, ‘What? Where is he? San...

The first “Star Wars” spinoff, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” is in crisis, and the movie will have to go into expensive reshoots over the summer, sources exclusively confirmed to Page Six. The much-anticipated “Rogue One” is due for release on Dec. 16, but we’re told bosses at Disney are not fully satisfied with the first cut from director Gareth Edwards. One Hollywood source told us, “The execs at Disney are not happy with the movie, and ‘Rogue One’ will have to go back into four weeks of expensive reshoots in July.”

Only a fraction of the many asylum seekers who came to Sweden last year have got jobs, new figures show. Only a microscopic part of the 162,000 refugees who last year sought asylum in Sweden have so far got jobs. In fact only 494 of the thousands of asylum seekers in the labor market, writes SVT. This corresponds to 0.3 per cent of all asylum seekers that came last year. A valid ID is all that is requires, according to the television channel, for a person who has come to Sweden to be able to work while he is waiting...
