Riverside County sheriff’s investigators believe a man broke into the county animal shelter in Jurupa Valley last week to steal three dogs that had been quarantined, then created carnage at the shelter as a diversion. Jason Ernest Johnson, 42, was announced Wednesday, Sept. 16, as a suspect in the weekend break-in, which resulted in the deaths of four dogs. He remains at large, and there is a warrant out for his arrest, sheriff’s officials said at a news conference.
