This is a shameless vanity. As this is the last day of February, I would like to offer my freshly published ebook for free to my fellow members of the forum. Please go to:https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/413324 and use this download code to receive the book for FREE!: ZV87U The code is good until March 27. The story, while suitable for all humans, was written for children between the ages of 8-14. It is not political, or agenda driven story. Unless, one considers wholesomeness an agenda. All that is asked is that if you download the book and read it and like the...

PHOENIX (AP) — The most popular member of the Milwaukee Brewers at spring training is a rookie who comes with pedigree, an excellent clubhouse presence and good legs. Four legs, in fact. Along with a button nose and scruffy, white fur. Hank the dog may be the early lock for camp MVP — Most Valuable Pet. "Yeah, he's making a pretty big impact, which I've got to say is pretty cool," pitcher Yovani Gallardo said. "It's getting a lot of attention, for sure. I think he likes it, too."

Jose Ochoa died after a rooster stabbed him in the leg during an illegal cockfight near Tulare County, Calif. The rooster had a razor-like knife attached to its leg, which the birds use to fight each other to the death, notes LA Weekly. Ochoa may have lost too much blood by fleeing the police and waiting to be taken to the Delano Regional Medical Center.

SANTA ANA – Police found about 350 pythons – many of them dead – at a home Tuesday morning. Officers served a search warrant at the house on the 2900 block of North Fernwood Drive around 7 a.m., said Cpl. Anthony Bertagna of the Santa Ana Police Department. Humans love owning pets. But life gets in the way sometimes and, sadly, we have to give our furry friends up to someone who can take better care of them. Though it’s tough, it’s the right thing to do. Florida woman Shelley Bezanson isn’t concerned about doing the right thing. Bezanson, 28, lives in an apartment in Osprey, Florida. Her landlord recently told her that dogs were prohibited in her apartment and that she would be evicted if she didn’t get rid of Diamond, her pit bull mix. Rather than give Diamond to a local rescue shelter that would find...

The man in the photo to the left isn't a Ranger in Afghanistan's Korengal Valley. He's a Texas game warden, kitted out to check your deer tags or lead a paramilitary, kick-the-door-in assault on your tent. The militarization of every possible law enforcement entity in America is complete: Texas Parks and Wildlife now has a SWAT team. The 25-man unit can deploy anywhere in the state within four hours, TPWD boasts, and is modeled after what military types call a "force multiplier," which basically means that these guys can shoot a bunch of bullets. At what, you ask? In this...

Reports that North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un had his uncle Jang Song Thaek executed by feeding him to a pack of 120 ravenous dogs was met with mixed reactions in the US. On the one hand, some environmental activists expressed relief that the traditional “bullet-to-the-back-of-the-head” method previously used by North Korea had been avoided. “Lead shot is a major factor in environmental pollution,” said Global Advocates for Environmental Awareness spokesperson, Laura Looney. “Granted, the absolute impact of one bullet is tiny. However, the turn toward a more organic method of disposal of unwanted criminals is a powerful symbolic statement...

There's even an old Korean name for such an 'execution by dogs' -quan jue- so I reckon it's not the first time it's happened over yonder. Yet if the ruthlessly swift arrest and conviction of the Norks' #2 shocked you last month, the execution method now said to have been employed is unlikely to make you feel any better about it: despite the fact that his uncle Jang Song Thaek wasn't the nicest guy in the world, it's hard to imagine anyone deserving to be stripped naked and torn to ribbons by a pack of 120 vicious dogs... who had...

When the floats begin rolling down the streets of Pasadena, Calif., on New Year's Day, K9s4COPS will be among the 45 entries in the 125th annual Rose Parade. It will be the only Texas non-profit represented along the 5.5 mile course. The coup was the brainchild of K9s4COPS founder Kristi Schiller, who felt that the parade with an estimated one billion viewers would be an effective way to expand the K9 audience nationally and internationally. Financed through private donations, the float featuring a larger-than-life German shepherd is designed by Tim Estes, owner of Fiesta Parade Floats. That company has won...
