Singer-songwriter Peter Gabriel says he is not anti-Israel, but that he is “against occupation”. Gabriel, who originally rose to fame with the band Genesis, contributed songs to a new compilation album titled “2 Unite All”, proceeds from which go to humanitarian organizations aiding Palestinian Arabs in Gaza, reports i24news. “I am certain that Israelis and Palestinians will both benefit from a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders,” Gabriel said in a statement quoted by i24news. “We have watched Palestinians suffer for too long, especially in Gaza.” …

As advertisers, affiliates and the general public continue to raise cain over Rush Limbaugh’s inflammatory comments about Sandra Fluke, another party has added his voice to the protest. A rep for singer/songwriter Peter Gabriel posted a message on his Facebook page insisting that the Brit's music no longer be used on Limbaugh’s radio show. Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer” was utilized in the background of Limbaugh’s now-infamous rant, in which he called the Georgetown student a “slut” and a “prostitute.” The Facebook message reads: “Peter was appalled to learn that his music was linked to Rush Limbaugh’s extraordinary attack on Sandra Fluke. It...

A prophet, who now goes by the name “Rael,” once encountered space aliens who told him the secret of life. Later, his followers, “the Raelians,” set up an advocacy group to expose pedophilia in the Roman Catholic Church. But the group’s work was frustrated when Pope Benedict XVI (a.k.a. Joe Ratzinger) covered up the crimes of Catholic priests, in an effort to discredit the Raelians and suppress their message.

The government today announced unemployment is now “officially” over 10%. In Florida, it’s been that way for months. “Jim” was one of the statistics, but is no longer. Not because he’s found work, but because he has exhausted his unemployment benefits and is therefore no longer included when counting the number of unemployed. “Isn’t that something? Now I’m not even considered unemployed!” he says. “For statistics purposes, I guess I no longer exist.”

Olympic ideals still relevant in cynical modern world Alan Kellogg,The Edmonton Journal Published: Sunday, February 12, 2006 It's interesting that John Lennon's Imagine has become a sort of Hallmark card at certain international events. It's a sweet and familiar melody, sure, and the sincerity is unmistakable. Boomers still call the shots in most locales. But its lyrics remain deeply radical decades after its conception. We're also meant to imagine no...
