New York’s Guggenheim Museum said it will not include three works in an upcoming exhibition after they sparked the ire of animal rights groups. The exhibition, “Art and China after 1989: Theater of the World,” included three works that critics said promoted cruelty to animals–including one called “Dogs That Cannot Touch Each Other,” which reportedly included footage of pit bulls on treadmills. The museum initially defended showing the works, saying it valued freedom of expression, but it said in a statement yesterday that threats of violence have forced it to reconsider out of concern for the safety of its visitors....

A wildlife photographer and an animal rights group have reached a settlement in perhaps the weirdest lawsuit of the century. David Slater and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) have been at loggerheads for years over who owns the rights to the famous "monkey selfie" taken by a curious macaque in 2011.

Animal control officers in Palm Beach County say they are seeing animal abuse like they’ve never experienced before. Palm Beach County Animal Care reports animal control officers have rescued 49 dogs and two cats in the last 48 hours, according to WPTV. Local animal officials reported finding dozens of dogs chained to trees and parked cars as thousands of people flee the Sunshine State. High winds have now made it impossible for animal control officers to respond to these calls. County Director of Animal Care Diane Suave said she is encouraging anyone to shelter animals they see tethered outside.

Wilber Zarate filed a lawsuit against the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals for taking his 9-year-old daughter’s dog from their mobile park home and then putting the pooch down ahead of the state’s mandatory five-day grace period.... In the suit, Zarate claimed PETA works under a board policy of euthanizing animals because it “considers pet ownership to be a form of involuntary bondage.”

Leading up to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, the radical anti-humans at PETA now advocate for "silent fireworks" because traditional fireworks scar dogs emotionally. According to LA Weekly, they "want to see silent fireworks, or possibly even a Summer Games without fireworks at all, so that animals aren't traumatized by the simulation of artillery." "We have seen success with silent fireworks," says PETA's associate director of online marketing, Kate Tuggle. "Silent fireworks are generally more colorful."

From the same people who declared that milk was a symbol of white supremacy comes this blisteringly-hot take: cheese is the most sexist food there is, cows are regularly raped on farms, and the act of eating cheese is failing to combat sexism. In order to keep producing milk, PETA describes how cows are "raped" to become pregnant again and again and how their calves are treated immediately after birth.
