SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — Black Lives Matter Bay Area organizers Friday said they were withdrawing as Grand Marshals for the weekend San Francisco Pride Parade in response to an increased police presence and security measures announced in the wake of a mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando. Black Lives Matter was chosen as an organizational grand marshal for the parade in honor of its theme, “For Racial and Economic Justice.”

Early Sunday, there was a call into Santa Monica police of a suspected prowler near Olympic Boulevard and 11th Street. Patrol officers responded and encountered an individual who told officers he was waiting for a friend. That led officers to inspect the car and found several weapons a lot of ammunition as well as tannerite, an ingredient that could be used to create a pipe bomb. The car had Indiana plates. Black Heritage Society's 37th Annual Original MLK Birthday Parade will begin at Crawford and Texas near Minute Maid Park, and end at Hamilton and Preston. In Midtown, the MLK Grande Parade will be on San Jacinto Street and Elgin Street. People will enjoy a mile of 15 floats and 30 bands. The grand marshal is Rushion McDonald who is the executive producer of The Steve Harvey Show. He's a Houston native and University of Houston graduate. Both parades begin at 10 a.m.
