THE WIZ! As long as it is from the Broadway play and not that piece of dreck movie!
The Wiz - Ease on down the road maddening ear worm.
Worst movie Ever!
THE WIZ-worst black musical movie ever!
SONG OF NORWAY-worst white musical movie ever!
Piss on the Wiz.
I liked the parade more when it was about balloons and marching bands. I hate the Broadway crap. Not always kid/family friendly.
It’s not what I remember watching as a kid in the 80’s.
Only one worth watching anymore is the Rose bowl parade.
I remember watching The Wiz all those years ago - don’t think a remake will be any better. I don’t care that much for the Wizard of Oz either.
I love Broadway. I was raised in New York going to shows a lot.
The Broadway highlights at Herald Square are highlights. (They do that to promote Broadway, but also because Herald Square, where Macy’s is (and Penn Station), is the end point of the parade, so they’re keeping the crowd at Herald Square entertained.)
Why didn’t you like The Wizard of Oz? I love the movie. The Wiz is a product of that era when we had to make “all black” versions of EVERYTHING, but it’s not bad. “Ease on Down That Road” is a catchy song. (Hopefully, that’s the one they’ll do.)
“America” was right — “Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man that he didn’t/Didn’t already have.”
I LOVE the Thanksgiving Day Parade. AND the Rose Parade.
My niece usually takes her kids to NY for the parade each year. They get a hotel room (street side) somewhere in Midtown, and they watch the parade either from the balcony of from in front of their hotel. I might suggest to her that one year, she should try the Pennsylvania Hotel (across from Penn Station and catty-cornered from Macy’s).
The Pennsylvania, BTW, is where Glenn Miller and His Orchestra used to play in New York. That’s the genesis of their song, “Pennsylvania 6-5000.” It’s still hte hotel’s phone number.
Until "Annie."
